U.S. revokes Iran oil sales authorization after tanker attacks

TUE, JUL 7 2026

KEY POINTS

The U.S. Treasury Department revoked a license that allowed Iran to sell its oil around the world.

• The decision to revoke the license came after a series of attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

• Tehran has attacked ships that use a U.S. Navy protected route. It wants vessels to transit a corridor that it controls.

• The U.S. Treasury Department on Tuesday revoked its authorization of Iranian oil sales after a series of attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz this week.

“Iran will only reap benefits if they exhibit good behavior,” a U.S. official told CNBC, speaking on condition of anonymity to talk about private discussions. “Iran’s actions in the Strait were wholly unacceptable to the United States and will be met with consequences.”

A liquefied natural gas tanker, an oil supertanker and an unspecified third tanker came under attack in or near Hormuz on Tuesday, according to the Joint Maritime Information Center, a naval group led by the U.S. that provides security updates to merchant vessels in the Middle East.

The threat to ships crossing Hormuz has increased to “severe” as hostile action by Iran is likely, the center warned mariners in a notice.

Treasury had waived sanctions on Iranian oil through Aug. 21 after Washington and Tehran inked an interim deal to reopen Hormuz last month. The waiver allowed the import of Iranian crude to the U.S. and payment to Tehran in dollars among other provisions. Critics had slammed the waiver as major concession to the Islamic Republic.

Iran, for its part, promised ships safe passage through Hormuz under the deal with the U.S. But Tehran has subsequently insisted that vessels must use a northern route under its control. It has attacked ships that use a U.S. Navy protected route along Oman’s coast.

“This is part of this sporadic targeted campaign by Iran to destabilize that southern corridor and send a message to Gulf state producers that are not sending their oil via that northern corridor,” said Michelle Wiese Bockmann, senior maritime intelligence analyst at Windward.

Ships are avoiding the traditional route through the center of Hormuz because Iran mined it.

Von der Leyen seeking to tighten grip on EU foreign policy – Politico

A reported overhaul could strip powers from Kaja Kallas’ diplomatic service

Published 7 Jul, 2026 09:21 | Updated

The European Commission is considering creating a new foreign affairs department in a movethat would strip powers from the EU’s diplomatic service headed by Kaja Kallas, according to Politico. The reported plans are the latest sign of European Commission President Ursulavon der Leyen’s push to tighten her grip on the bloc’s foreign policy apparatus.

The proposal isone of several options under review as the commission reassesses how it manages the bloc’s external relations, Politico reported on Monday. Officials told the outlet itcould involve merging departments responsible for trade and regional policy into one “supercharged” body.

The reported overhaul comes less than a month after the Financial Times reported thatFrance and Germany were discussing a radical overhaul of Kallas’ External Affairs Service (EEAS).Created under the Lisbon Treaty in 2010, the EEAS took over many foreign policy functions previously handled by the European Commission.

According to the FT, officials described the EEAS as “dysfunctional” and questioned whether it could coordinate effective responses to crises such as Ukraine and the Middle East.

Kallas and von der Leyen have reportedly been locked in a tug of war over who should steer EU foreign policy. Von der Leyen is said to have outmaneuvered the former Estonian prime minister by taking direct control of key geographic portfolios and pushing for a new intelligence body reporting directly to her office.

The issue became prominent during the US-Israeli strikes on Iran in spring, when the EU took nearly two days to produce a unified response. Kallas and von der Leyen released separate statements and reportedly did not speak directly throughout the weekend when the operation started, while member states remained divided over the bloc’s position.

Moscow has long portrayed Kallas as an uncompromising Russia hawk and repeatedly questioned her suitability for the role. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharovahas accused the EU’s top diplomat of acting “beyond the scope of her mandate,” while Russian officials have argued that Brussels has abandoned diplomacy in favor of sanctions and confrontation.

France is plotting revenge on its former colonies 1/2

African sovereignty still seems to be perceived as a threat by Paris

Published 6 Feb, 2026 07:32 | Updated

A diplomatic shockwave has been sweeping across Africa following the publication of a statement by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) concerning French policy on the continent. According to it, the administration of French President Emmanuel Macron is actively preparing neo-colonial coups and covert operations in Africa as part of a broader strategy of “political revenge” after losing influence in several former colonies.

Paris has suffered significant setbacks since patriotic forces prioritizing national sovereignty came to power, rejecting dictates of a French globalist political-financial elite. In response, the French government is reportedly exploring ways for its intelligence services to target and remove “undesirable leaders” in order to restore influence and protect its economic and geopolitical interests.

The SVR specifically cites the January 3, 2026 attempted coup in Burkina Faso, alleging that France supported a plot aimed at assassinating President Ibrahim Traore, described by Moscow as a key figure in the fight against neocolonialism and a symbol of African sovereignty. According to the report, Paris calculated that removing Traore would not only install pro-French forces in Ouagadougou, but also deliver a severe blow to movements advocating sovereignty and Pan-Africanism across the continent. Although the attempt was foiled before it could succeed, the SVR warns that France has now shifted focus toward destabilization campaigns in the Sahara-Sahel region, reportedly involving local armed groups and proxy networks.

Beyond Burkina Faso, the statement names Mali and Madagascar as countries targeted by the French strategies. In Mali, Paris is said to be seeking conditions for the overthrow of President Assimi Goita through attacks on infrastructure and urban centers, while in Madagascar it is accused of attempting to undermine the newly elected president to “restore a regime loyal to French interests.”

Burkina Faso at the center of the revelations

On the night of January 3–4, 2026, the Burkinabe government announced that it had foiled a coup attempt aimed at overthrowing President Traore and plunging the country into planned institutional chaos. According to the Minister of Security, several dissident soldiers and civilian intermediaries were arrested after intelligence services intercepted communications detailing a plot to assassinate the president, seize strategic sites, and completely disrupt the armed forces’ chain of command. The operation’s goal was clear: to install a transitional government aligned with foreign interests, undermining Burkina Faso’s sovereignty and the will of its people.

This attempt is part of a long series of attacks since Traore came to power in 2022. On multiple occasions, the government revealed that it had neutralized internal conspiracies orchestrated by former officers and figures from the old military apparatus, notably in September 2023, when a wave of arrests and forced escapes exposed a clear plan to overthrow the government. Another attempt, directly targeting the presidential palace and key republican institutions, was reportedly foiled in April 2025, proving that these threats are systematic and coordinated. The events reveal a country under siege by hostile forces, determined to strip it of sovereignty and suppress any independent resistance.

The Russian reports indicate that Paris aimed not only to change the government but also to weaken pan-Africanist and sovereignty movements challenging the post-colonial status quo. Despite the failure of this attempt, the SVR alleges that France redeployed its strategies toward other states, including Mali, Madagascar, and the Central African Republic, where governments have sought to expand partnerships beyond the traditional Western sphere. Furthermore, the SVR statement comes just days after Niger’s transitional leader, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, accused France and neighboring countries of sponsoring mercenaries behind an attack on the international airport in Niamey.

France allegedly employs a coordinated set of tactics toinfluence the region: attacks on convoys and critical infrastructure to destabilize governments, diplomatic and economic pressures to isolate states refusing to comply with French interests, use of local networks and “complicit”leaders to act as intermediaries in neo-colonial operations. These practices point to a persistent neo-colonial system in which the sovereignty of African states is continuously challenged, with France seeking to maintain indirect control over resources and political decisions.

Towards a more sovereign and diversified Africa

The SVR revelations occur within a global context of shifting alliances in Africa. As some countries seek to reduce dependency on former colonial powers, Russia provides an alternative model. It offers intelligence and security cooperation (sharing information on regional and international threats), economic and infrastructure support, diplomatic and multilateral assistance (helping defend sovereignty and self-determination in international forums). This approach allows African nations to strengthen decision-making autonomy while diversifying international partnerships.

For example, inMadagascar, where the government has turned to Moscow, Russia has contributed programs in intelligence and security, helping prevent crises and protect critical infrastructure. Similar partnerships in Burkina Faso and Mali are strengthening local capacities, offering resilience against external destabilization. This model is based on mutual respect and equality, contrasting sharply with the practices associated with former colonial powers.Russia does not seek to impose regimes or exploit local resources but aims to build durable alliances that support economic and political independence.

In Paris’s view, African sovereignty can still be perceived as a threat. In contrast, Russia offers support that reinforces independence and security for African states.

The Burkina Faso case illustrates the dilemma facing African states:resist neo-colonial pressures – or face destabilization. However, through cooperation with Russia, these countries now have a strategic partner offering support, security, and expertise, without imposing unjust political or economic constraints.

Trump has ‘consistent position’ on Ukraine conflict – Moscow

The US president is open to dialogue with Russia and contacts with Vladimir Putin will continue, the Kremlin has said

Published 6 Jul, 2026 20:23 |

US President Donald Trump has a consistent understanding of the Ukraine conflict and is receptive of what Moscow has to say on it, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists. The official also confirmed that Russia expects Trump to resume contacts with Russian President Vladimir Putin soon.

Just days earlier, the two presidents spoke by phone on the 250th anniversary of US independence. According to the Kremlin, Putin and Trump spoke for nearly 1.5 hours on Saturday and discussed awide range of topics, including Ukraine, Iran, and bilateral ties. The Trump administration has sought to play the role of a mediator in the Ukraine conflict.

“President Trump has a consistent position [on the Ukraine conflict],” Peskov told journalists on Monday, commenting on the US president’s role in the peace process. “He is consistent and confident in his understanding of what is happening. Most importantly, he is open to hearing the information that President Putin conveys to him.”

The Kremlin spokesman alsodismissed what he called “speculation” about Trump constantly shiftinghis position on the Ukraine conflict, calling it “not consistent with reality.”

Washington resumed direct contact with Moscow in early 2025 after Trump returned to the White House following years of diplomatic freeze under his predecessor, Joe Biden.

Several rounds of US-mediated talks, as well as direct meetings between Russian and Ukrainian delegations, have yielded some tangible results, including major prisoner exchanges, the repatriation of fallen soldiers, and the exchange of peace memorandums, but have failed to produce a peace deal.

The process slowed down earlier this year as the US shifted its focus to Iran, but Trump signaled last month that Washington will resume efforts to end the Ukraine conflict.

On Monday, Peskov confirmedthat both presidents “have an understanding” that “their contacts will continue in the near future.” Reuters reported that the US president could call his Russian counterpart later this week after meeting Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Türkiye.

Nolte: The Nazi Tattoo Wasn’t Disqualifying Enough for Amoral Democrats

John Nolte7 Jul1/2

Democrats support the permanent mutilation and sterilization of children to appease their transsexual supporters.

Democrats support allowing men to enter women’s bathrooms and locker rooms.

Democrats supportallowing men to destroy women’s sports, which means stealing their scholarships, their trophies, and even their gold medals after beating the shit out of them on worldwide TV.

Democrats supportallowing male criminals to share jail cells with women.

Democrats support exposing little kids to the drag queens who desperately want access to little kids.

Democrats support queering little kids with gay porn in elementary schools.

For decades,Democrats (and the corporate media) reelected and then canonized the late Sen. Ted Kennedy(D-MA)decades after he literally left an innocent woman in a car to slowly drown overnight.

We’ve known Democrats have no bottom since Chappaquiddick in 1969, so no one should be surprised that the corporate media andDemocrats allowed U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner (D-ME) to slide. ==No one should be surprised that even after all this from Platner…

• Wore a Nazi SS (Death’s Head) tattoo for 18 years

• Had (and maybe still has) an account on the alleged predator sex-site Kik (he’s married)

• Explicit sexts with half a dozen women in 2023 (he’s married)

• Disparaged all black people as a population that doesn’t tip

• Blamed sexual assault victims for being sexually assaulted

• Smeared rural Maine population as racist

• Anti-gay posts on Reddit

• Promoted an alleged Holocaust denier on social media

• Bragged about masturbating in public porta-potties

• Mocked Purple Heart recipient as a “Dumb motherfucker didn’t deserve to live”

• Encouraged military contractors to “bang hookers in Thailand”

• Called the Virgin Mary a “skank”

• DUI

• Appeared on an antisemite’s podcast who says the Jews killed Kennedy

• Credibly accused of assaulting an ex-girlfriend

…Democrats had no moral misgivings about supporting him.

You see, when Democrats believe morality and decency get in the way of power, they cast aside all morality and decency.

Keep in mind that this latest allegation against Platnerof a full-blown rape is not why Democrats are abandoning him. The fact that this latest accuser is a Democrat is not even why Democrats are abandoning Platner.

No, it’s the polls showing that he is losing groundand outright losing against sitting Republican Sen. Susan Collins. If polling still showed Platner coasting to victory, no number of sexual assault allegations would kill the support from his party (and the corporate media).

Still, what I can’t get over is how politically stupidthe likes of the New York Times and Democrat Sens. Bernie Sanders, Chuck Schumer, Elizabeth Warren, and many more were in defending this guy.

Graham Platner ran around with a Nazi tattoo for 17 years.

Think about that.

A Nazi tattoo.

Forget the morality of such an obscenity. How did supposedly intelligent Democrats not understand that in 100 percent of cases, a Nazi tattoo is merely the tip of a troubling and deeply disturbed iceberg?

If your daughter dates a guy with a Nazi tattoo, no parent believes for a moment that the only problem with the guy is the tattoo, or that he doesn’t like Jews.Everyone knows that a Nazi tattoo is merely a symptom of a deeply troubled individual harboring the most anti-social, violent, and narcissistic values.

Up and down, right to left, and from zig to zag, this guy is Trouble with a capital “T,” and your daughter is going to get hurt, or worse.

If your neighbor has a Nazi tattoo, a smart person keeps a polite, shallow, and friendly distance.

A psychology degree is not requiredto understand the selfish recklessness and danger inherent in a person who sports a Nazi tattoo. All you need do is trust your instincts, which will ring like crazy in that situation.

And yet, Democrats not only stood by a U.S. Senate candidate with the mark of the devil, but they stood by him after each of the 15 scandals listed above, as though number nine and then 13 and then 15 must be the last one. As though a guy with a Nazi tattoo will tell the truth when asked if there are any more potential scandals out there.

And now, thanks to their undying support for the guy with the Nazi tattoo and the Kik account and on and on…Democrats have lost even the pretense of the moral high ground. This will be (and should be) thrown in their faces forever.

Going back to starting a civil war to hold on to their slaves,Democrats have always been amoral; now they’re stupid as well.

Leftist Group Reveals Troubling Allegation Against Potential Platner Replacement

Hannah Knudsen7 Jul 2026

The far-left group Progressive Victory is unveiling a troubling allegation against a potential candidate to replace Democrat Graham Platner in Maine’s U.S. Senate race, alleging that this individual “struck a female colleague with a bottle he threw at her” during a disagreement, corroborated by several witnesses.

Platner is facing more than an uphill battle after yet another controversy bubbled up.This time, a woman alleges that Platner broke into her home and sexually assaulted her. Jenny Racicot, 41, the alleged victim, told Politico that she was dating Platner on and off. In 2021, she alleges, he came into her home “uninvited” and reportedly “forced himself on her while she repeatedly told him to stop.”

When asked during an appearance on CNN’s The Lead if Platner raped her, Racicot said, “By definition? Yes, Absolutely.”

She added, “He violated multiple layers of consent that night by coming into my home, when I asked him not to. And by advancing on me when I told him not to. And — and furthermore, another incident that I had told him not to do.”

Platner – who already has a host of other controversies under his belt – said he is considering the future of his campaign.

“So, regardless of the inaccuracy of the reporting, but mindful of the political reality it will inflict, we are taking the time to reflect on the best path forward for the state that I love, the people that I love, the movement I belong to,and the goal of defeating Susan Collins,” Platner said in a video. “Those were the goals when we launched this campaign, and they remain my goals today.”

Given this, the far-left group Progressive Victory is seeking out other candidates. However, they have run into some trouble with one possibility, Troy Jackson, former president of the Maine Senate.

“We began asking our contacts on the ground in Maine about Troy Jackson earlier today after seeing many suggestions that he should replace Graham Platner against Susan Collins,” Progressive Victory said.

“In our discussions we have received troubling information about not only Jackson’s behavior, but the behavior of many prominent Maine Democrats toward women more broadly,”it continued, revealing that Jacksonallegedly struck a female colleague with a bottle. “Both as a result of the credibility of the sourcesand in the interest of not seeing our movement make the same mistake twice, we are choosing to share some of this now.”

“As Maine Senate President in a state senate caucus meeting several years ago,Troy Jackson in a heated disagreement struck a female colleague with a bottle he threw at her,” the group said. “There are many witnesses, and it appears this is a widespread open secret within Maine politics and not an isolated incident. This information is still developing and we will provide updates in a thread in the comments of this post as we receive it.”

The group added that individuals from Jackson’s team are denying the claim, but they added, “It is not a credible refutation on its own. We are continuing to investigate.”

As a result of the latest allegations against Platner, many prominent Democrats who originally backed him are withdrawing their support.

Bernie Sanders Recommends Graham Platner ‘Step Aside’ from Maine Senate Race After Rape Allegation

Elizabeth Weibel7 Jul 2026

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has recommended that Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner (D) “step aside” from the race after Platner faced a new rape allegation.

“I have spoken with Graham Platner about the best path forward for Maine,” Sanders said in a post on X. “In light of these very serious allegations, I have recommended that he step aside.”

Sanders’s post comes after a Politicoreport revealed that Jenny Racicot told the outlet that one evening in 2021, Platner showed up at her home “uninvited” and sexually assaulted her.

“I remember him grabbing my pelvis and being really forceful of me,” Racicot told the outlet. “I remember the specific moment where I thought to myself, like, ‘This is no longer my choice.'”

Sanders has previously defended Platner as he has faced other scandals, stating that Platner has “the guts to stand up to the big money interests.”

“The reason that they do not want him in the Senate is he has had the guts to stand up to the big money interests, to fight for healthcare as a human right, to demand the billionaires start paying their fair share of taxes,” Sanders said.

Platner has been criticized for his Nazi tattoo, and has faced scandals related to sending sexually explicit texts to women early on in his marriage.

EMILY’s List has also brought attention to how Platner has made “disturbing comments about sexual assault victims”:

Maine U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner made disturbing comments about sexual assault victims in Reddit posts that were deleted shortly before he launched his campaign — saying assault victims should “just take some responsibility for themselves” to avoid attacks and “act like an adult for f-cks sake.” He said people should avoid alcohol so they don’t end up in a “compromising situation” and downplayed the challenges servicemembers face in reporting sexual assault.

After the report from Politico, Democrats such asRep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) withdrew their endorsements of Platner. In a statementfrom theDemocratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) called the allegations “incredibly disturbing” and called for Platner to “immediately withdraw” from the race.

Report: Cybersecurity Agency CISA Deploys Anthropic’s Mythos AI to Scan Government Code for Weaknesses

Lucas Nolan7 Jul 20261/2

The United States Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is utilizing Anthropic’s AI model Mythos to conduct security audits of government software repositories, according to three sources familiar with the initiative. Anthropic has a stormy relationship with the federal government, including a contentious lawsuit with the Pentagon.

Reuters reports that CISA has begun using Anthropic’s AI model Mythos to scan government code repositories for security vulnerabilities that could potentially be exploited by foreign intelligence services and cybercriminals, sources revealed on Monday. This development represents another indication of government interest in adopting the AI startup’s technology despite ongoing tensions between Anthropic and the White House.

According to one source, the scanning operations are being conducted by CISA’s Attack Surface Evaluation team, a specialized group within the agency responsible for performing digital security assessments and conducting hacking exercises across government systems. The initiative aims to identify bugs and weaknesses in government software that could create security risks.

Two sources indicated that the audits have already identified a substantial number of vulnerabilities, though they did not provide specific details about the findings. The exact scope of the code review, including how much government software has been examined and the specific nature or severity of the discovered bugs, could not be determined.

Anthropic declined to respond to inquiries about the initiative. A CISA representative stated last month that they would investigate whether information could be shared about the matter but subsequently did not respond to additional email requests.

The relationship between Anthropic and the United States government has been marked by significant conflict. The San Francisco-based company, which has confidentially filed for an initial public offering in the United States, has experienced a turbulent relationship with federal authorities. The conflict became especially serious when Anthropic filed a lawsuit against the Trump Administration over the Pentagon blacklisting the company as a supply chain risk:

The company’s complaint states that federal government contracts are already being terminated, while both current and prospective private sector agreements face uncertainty. According to the filing, these actions jeopardize hundreds of millions of dollars in near-term revenue.Anthropic CFO Krishna Rao provided additional context in a related filing, suggesting the financial impact could be far more substantial. “Across Anthropic’s entire business, and adjusting for how likely any given customer is to take a maximal reading, the government’s actions could reduce Anthropic’s 2026 revenue by multiple billions of dollars,” Rao said.

The supply chain risk designation, which was officially confirmed last week, represents an extraordinary measure historically reserved for foreign adversaries. Under this classification, defense vendors and contractors must certify they do not utilize Anthropic’s AI models, known as Claude, in any work performed for the Pentagon. This requirement effectively blocks the company from participating in defense-related contracts and projects.

More recently, the Trump Administration imposed an export ban on its Fable and Mythos AI models, which was lifted after the company sent a negotiation team to the White House:

The Trump administration implemented a ban on Friday that prohibited foreign governments, companies, and individuals from accessing Anthropic’s Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models. In response to the restrictions, Anthropic shut down access to the models entirely to ensure compliance with the new regulations. The company stated that the ban affected numerous foreign governments, companies, individuals, and even some of its own foreign-born employees.

High-level discussions took place on Saturday between administration officials and Anthropic leadership regarding Fable 5, a streamlined version of the company’s powerful Mythos model designed for public use. According to sources familiar with the talks, participants included Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, National Cyber Director Sean Cairncross, Anthropic co-founder and chief compute officer Tom Brown, and Sarah Heck, the company’s head of public policy.

Breitbart News social media director Wynton Hall describes AI as having great potential on the positive side, but also having the same danger as a landmine for America’s future. An AI review of government code is exactly the sort of beneficial application that Hall supports, but even such positive applications of AI may present hidden landmines. Hall has written his instant bestseller Code Red: The Left, the Right, China, and the Race to Control AI toserve as the definitive guide on how the MAGA movement can create positions on AI that benefit humanity without handing control of our nation to the leftists of Silicon Valley or allowing the Chinese to take over the world.
