A hospital in South Texas is under fire for trying to profit from America’s ridiculous birthright citizenship policy, which was upheld by the Supreme Court last week.
As Fox News reported on Tuesday, Mission Regional Medical Center has been caught red-handed advertising a birth packages campaign in billboards in Mexico. The purpose was to convince foreign nationals to give birth across the border so their babies could obtain U.S. citizenship.
The hospital promoted deliveries starting at $3,950 for a natural birth and $5,525 for a C-section, and directed viewers to a website, havemybabyinTEXAS.com. The website has since been taken down.
Moreover, the billboards also displayed a telephone number beginning with “001.” This is the country code used to place calls to the United States from Mexico.
Mission Regional Medical Center later claimed this was all a “misunderstanding” and claimed they had backed off.
“The marketing materials regarding maternity services are no longer in use due to any unintended misunderstanding,” a hospital spokesperson told Fox News. “We do not support or facilitate any unlawful activity and work to comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.”

A Ukrainian drone has struck a passenger bus in Russia’s Zaporozhye Region, setting the vehicle ablaze, Governor Evgeny Balitsky has said, adding that all 11 people on board escaped unharmed.
In a post on Telegram, Balitsky said that the attack took place on a road in the Primorsky district on the Black Sea coast, noting that all passengers and two drivers had been evacuated safely. He described the attack as a “targeted strike on a scheduled passenger bus with civilians on board”, “a gross violation of international humanitarian law,” and “another war crime by the rabid Kiev terrorists.”
Rodion Miroshnik, who leads the Russian Foreign Ministry mission responsible for tracking Kiev’s war crimes, suggested that the “terrorist acts” are aimed at intimidating the local population and undermining connectivity in the region.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth canceled a planned visit to Israel on Wednesday, amid renewed hostilities between Washington and Tehran and Israeli concerns over the possible sale of American F-35 stealth fighter jets to Turkey.
An Israeli official confirmed the planned visit and its cancellation to The Times of Israel following reports on the matter.
Hegseth was expected to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the trip, the official confirmed, but did not specify what the meeting was set to focus on or provide a reason for the cancellation.
Axios and CNN reported Tuesday that Hegseth was likely to meet on Wednesday with Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, partly to ease Israeli concerns over the possible F-35 sale to Turkey. However, Hebrew-language media reports, citing sources with knowledge of the matter, said late Wednesday morning that the visit, which would have been Hegseth’s first as Pentagon chief, had been cancelled.
The Ynet news site said that Israel had been informed of the cancellation against the backdrop of rising tensions between the US and Iran.
The reports came soon after US President Donald Trump said he thought the US-Iran memorandum of understanding “is over.”
The US military unleashed a new wave of strikes Tuesday against the Iranian regime after three tankers were hit by projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz, putting further pressure on the already fragile ceasefire.

Investigators traced the suspect and coordinated with Moked 105, the national child online protection bureau, to match his identity against a backlog of unindicted harassment complaints spanning the last two years. Authorities have so far linked the suspect to eight victims.
According to police, the suspect presented himself as a 15-year-old boy on TikTok to strike up a conversation with a 9-year-old girl. After moving the conversation to WhatsApp, the girl mentioned she was part of a 70-member group chat dedicated to "Squishies"—collectible foam toys popular with children. The suspect asked to be added to the group, and the girl complied.

The proposal claims that America is witnessing a “tobacco moment,” this time for social media and AI companies, and the government must intervene as it did with the tobacco industry to prevent harm. But this is a fraught comparison, as Reason has pointed out, because tobacco is a physical product with measurable side effects, and social media is a vehicle for speech. The distinction matters because any policy regulating speech should be evaluated based on First Amendment grounds, not on its potential to reduce harm.

'Make them yourself': Trump gives Ukraine Patriot missile license during Zelensky NATO meeting
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly pleaded for the US-made interceptors - the only weapon in Ukraine's arsenal that can shoot down ballistic projectiles.
US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the United States will give a license to Ukraine for Patriot missiles, as he said both Russia and Ukraine want to see the war settled.
"We're going to give a license to you to make Patriots. That's pretty cool. This way, you can't complain that we're not giving 'em enough," Trump said at a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the NATO summit in Ankara.
"It's a defensive weapon, which I like better than an offensive weapon," Trump said.
Zelensky has repeatedly pleaded for the US-made interceptors - the only weapon in Ukraine's arsenal that can shoot down ballistic projectiles, whose high velocity and steep flight path make them difficult to stop.
He was expected to raise the issue with Trump during their meeting.
Trump said pressure could be applied to companies to produce Patriot missiles. "We have great power over the companies, those companies that make the Patriot," he said.
"We haven't informed the company of that yet, but that'll work out all right. I'm sure they will be thrilled," he said.
Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor for the interceptor missiles that go in the Patriot system.
Russia launches third assault on Kyiv in one week
Russia fired ballistic missiles at Kyiv again overnight, officials said on Wednesday, a third attack on the Ukrainian capital in less than a week exploiting Ukraine's critical shortage of US-made air-defense interceptors.
While Ukraine's air defenses intercepted 139 of the 169 drones during the overnight strikes on the country, they were again unable to down any of the five ballistic missiles used by Russia, air force data showed.
Trump said both sides in the war would like to see it end, but Russia's Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky have both been "difficult."

28 arrests in international strike against child sexual exploitation
Authorities from seven countries, supported by Europol, have carried out a major operation against child sexual exploitation, leading to the arrest of 28 individuals. As a result, three children have been safeguarded.
The operation, conducted from late May to mid-June 2026, took place in Canada, Czechia, Germany, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and Switzerland. It also led to the seizure of more than 460 items, including electronic devices, crypto wallets, drugs and large quantities of doping substances. The operation is ongoing and further arrests are expected.
Cryptocurrency to access the dark web
All suspects are men aged between 22 and 54. One of them was extensively using artificial intelligence in order to generate illegal material. Some of the victims were part of another suspect’s immediate family.
Investigators believe the suspects used cryptocurrency to pay for access to dark web forums, where they could download or view videos of children being abused. They will face charges for storing, acquiring, and sharing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
The investigation was led by Norwegian law enforcement, which in 2025 developed an innovative method to trace cryptocurrency transactions. This method helped investigators identify individuals paying for CSAM access in this operation. Two sellers of such material were also identified thanks to the tracing method.
Europol’s role in the operation
Europol provided crucial operational support and coordination throughout the investigation. Its experts cross-checked and enriched data with operational intelligence, producing key analytical products. Europol also assisted Norwegian authorities in distributing evidence packages to all participating countries and agencies.
The fight against child sexual exploitation remains a key priority for Europol. In addition to its support in preventing and detecting crimes related to the sexual abuse and exploitation of children, Europol is currently running two major initiatives in this field.

According to the report, his tax withholding approvals were issued in December 2024 under his previous name, Yair Netanyahu. This year, the same identifying details, including a fictional address listed as Balfour 0, appeared under the new name.
The report follows past cases in which members of the Netanyahu family used different names abroad.
Only a day earlier, Prime Minister Netanyahu was asked during an interview on Ben Ben Baruch’s podcast why he and his wife, Sara, had not named one of their sons after his brother, Yoni, or Yonatan Netanyahu, who was killed during Operation Entebbe. The operation was later renamed Operation Yonatan in his memory.
“On purpose,” Netanyahu said. “Sara and I decided not to do that, because you place a very heavy burden on a child. We definitely did not want that to happen. He fell 50 years ago, and there is not a day that I do not think of him.”
The prime minister’s other son, Avner Netanyahu, also changed his name in recent years. When he purchased an apartment in England near London, he did so under the name Avi Avner Segal.
The apartment was bought in 2022, and according to Britain’s land registry, the purchase price was 502,500 pounds. The sum was transferred to the seller in full, with no charge registered against the property, meaning no loan or mortgage was taken for the purchase.
Around the time of the purchase, Avner Netanyahu began studying for a master’s degree at Regent’s Park College in Oxford. He also registered for the degree, in the history of the Near East and archaeology, under his new identity, obscuring his connection to his father.
On an internal profile page at the institution, his name appeared as Avi Segal, and the same name also appeared in his college email address.
Yair Netanyahu has previously used different names on social media accounts, including Jesse Nathan, Yair Nathan and Yair Hon. Haaretz noted that Hon was the original family name of Sara Netanyahu’s father, Shmuel, before he Hebraized it to Ben-Artzi.
Similarly, Segal was the original family name of Tzila, the prime minister’s mother, before she married Benzion Netanyahu.
Prime Minister Netanyahu himself also changed his name in the past. During his years living in the United States, he identified himself as Ben Nitai.
Under Israeli law, a person may change their name once every seven years. Anyone seeking another name change before that period ends must submit a written request to the Population and Immigration Authority.
If the requested change is a return to a previous name, or the addition of a previous name to the current one, the request is sent to the office director, who may approve the change even if seven years have not passed. During that period, the previous name appears on the appendix to the person’s ID card and in parentheses in the passport.

German doctor suspected of killing up to 91 patients gets life sentence
A Berlin court on Wednesday sentenced a palliative care physician to life in prison after convicting him of murdering at least 15 of his patients. Johannes M., 41, whose full name has not been released due to Germany’s strict privacy laws, was convicted of injecting his patients with a lethal combination of drugs. He remains under investigation on suspicion of involvement in 76 additional cases in which his patients died and suspicions were raised.
According to the indictment, Johannes injected the patients, without their knowledge or consent, with a lethal combination of anesthetics and a muscle relaxant during home visits. In July 2024, shortly before his arrest, prosecutors said he killed two patients in a single day: a 75-year-old man at his home in central Berlin and several hours later a 76-year-old woman in a nearby neighborhood. In at least four of the murder cases, he was also accused of attempting to set fire to the victims’ apartments in order to conceal his actions. The investigation into him began following those arson attempts.
Throughout the trial, the doctor remained silent, but last month he admitted to killing at least 12 of his patients. In testimony before the court, he said he had convinced himself that he was doing the right thing and sparing the patients suffering.
“Throughout it all, I thought it was the best thing for everyone,” he said, apologizing to the victims’ families. In its sentencing, the court ruled that the doctor was guilty of murder under aggravated circumstances, a designation expected to prevent the possibility of early release. His medical license was permanently revoked.
Several relatives of the victims testified during the trial. The mother of the youngest victim, a 25-year-old woman killed in 2021, broke down in tears on the witness stand.
“She never said she didn’t want to live anymore,” the mother said.
The son of a 72-year-old woman killed in 2024 said his mother had plans to travel to the Baltic Sea with her sister.
“My mother wanted to keep living,” he said.
