Yulia Svyrydenko to Resign as Prime Minister in Government Reshuffle

By News Desk

Last updated: July 12, 2026

In a significant shift in Ukraine’s political landscape, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a government reshuffle, which includes the replacement of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenkoas part of a strategy to enhance foreign policy and security objectives. The announcement came through a detailed social media post, where Zelenskyy emphasized the need for a fresh approach to meet the evolving challenges facing the nation.

Zelenskyy explained that Ukraine is restructuringits political framework to ensure that each foreign policy priority is managed by experienced individuals capable of executing high-level agreementsand addressing the expectations of the Ukrainian populace. He stated, “I discussed the details with Ukraine’s Prime Minister, Yulia Svyrydenko. We agreed that implementing these changes requires a renewal of the Cabinet of Ministers.”

Prime Minister Svyrydenko, who took office a year ago after the resignation of Denys Shmyhal, expressed pride in her tenure, which occurred during one of the most challenging periods in Ukraine’s recent history. In her farewell message on social media platform X,she thanked the Ukrainian defenders, stating, “Our warriors are our strength and the foundation of our independence.”

During her time in office, Svyrydenko held crucial roles as first deputy prime minister and economy minister, gaining recognition for her influence in fostering critical agreements with the United States.Notably, she was instrumental in negotiating a minerals agreement that improved relations between Kyiv and Washington, helping to navigate a complex diplomatic landscape during the Trump administration.

Alongside the prime ministerial change, Zelenskyy indicated broader shifts within law enforcement leadership, reflecting a comprehensive strategy aimed at addressing Ukraine’s pressing foreign policy objectives. These objectives include the production of Patriot air defense systems under license, advancing Ukraine’s European Union membership aspirations, and strengthening ties with Gulf nations—regions identified by Zelenskyy as pivotal for security and economic collaboration.

As the country prepares for these significant leadership transitions, the focus will remain on ensuring the alignment of government actions with the strategic goals vital for Ukraine’s stability and growth in the face of ongoing challenges. Zelenskyy commended Svyrydenko for her willingness to lead a new, meaningful direction in relations with Ukraine’s key partners, underlining the importance of these relationships moving forward.

Five Years After the July 11 Demonstrations, Cubans Deserve A Better Future

PRESS STATEMENT

MARCO RUBIO, SECRETARY OF STATE

JULY 11, 2026

Five years ago, thousands of Cubans took to the streets to demand a better future for themselves and their families, seeking change after decades of repression and economic incompetence by the Communist regime. True to form, the regime responded with brutality, beating peaceful demonstrators in the streets and arresting thousands of everyday Cubans. To this day, hundreds of Cubans remain unjustly detained for the simple sin of asking for basic rights, opportunities, and dignity. We reiterate our call for the immediate release of these, and all, political prisoners in Cuba.

President Trump and I want a better future for Cuba and its long-suffering people. After decades of repression and gross mismanagement, Cuba’s economy is in freefall, and its people continue to suffer blackouts, hunger, and deprivation. The United States has always supported the Cuban people with humanitarian assistance and exports of food, medicine, and critical goods. In this Administration, we have offered Cuba aid, assistance with reconstruction, and the promise of a new relationship between our two countries, if the regime will only agree to make political and economic reforms to allow the country a chance at prosperity.

Sadly, the regime and its corrupt elites continue to refuse any efforts at meaningful reform, instead continuing to prioritize perpetuating their own total control over the Cuban people, and their dogmatic adherence to their failed and morally bankrupt Marxist ideology. While the people cry out for reform, Cuba’s Communist overlords continue to consolidate economic control, steal and squirrel away overseas what few resources remain, and blame others for their failures. They continue to ally themselves with America’s enemies, presenting a serious national security threat to our nation by hosting hostile foreign military, intelligence, terror, and operations less than 100 miles from our homeland and supporting dangerous subversive and terror networks in the United States itself.

The United States will continue to use every tool at our disposal to both address the national security threats posed by the Cuban Communist regime, and to drive the economic and political reforms to give Cuba a better future.Cuba’s leaders must simply choose to commit themselves to real reforms, peace and prosperity—before it is too late.

The spokesperson for the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee on Sunday praised Iran’s attack on a US base in Qatar as “right, logical and timely,” accusing Doha and Muscat of challenging Tehran’s efforts to establish sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.

“They have done more than anyone else to obstruct and undermine the establishment of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz,” Ebrahim Rezaei wrote on X, referring to Qatar.

“Oman, too, should have understood who the region’s leading power is and should not leave its mark on the devil’s wall,”Rezaei added, before praising “the brave men of the IRGC and the army.”

(4)Iran to retain management of Strait of Hormuz, MP says

Management of the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its pre-war status and remains in the hands of the Islamic Republic, Hassan Ghashghavi, a member of the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee, said on Sunday.

(5)US envoy rejects claim Iran targeted ships by mistake

US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz on Sunday rejected a claim by an unnamed US official cited by CNN that Iran had mistakenly targeted commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, saying the latest attack showed otherwise.

“Are we supposed to believe that some junior officers are going rogue and firing on ships, but yet face no consequences from a dictatorial hierarchy-based entity like the IRGC?I don’t buy it,” Waltz told ABC.

The unnamed US official told CNN on Fridaythat Iran had acknowledged in communications with Washington that earlier strikes on merchant ships were a mistake. US Central Command said, however, that Iran “blatantly attacked” another vessel in the Strait on Saturday.

Waltz accused Iran of violating international law by attacking neighboring countries, civilian shipping and infrastructure, but said technical talks between Tehran and Washington were continuing despite Iran’s leadership being “incredibly difficult to deal with.”

Mitch McConnell Releases Image and Statement

July 12, 2026 | Sundance |

The Office of Senator Mitch McConnell has released a picture and statement intended to answer questions about the status of the Kentucky senator. However, many are questioning the content.

Personally, the accompanying image doesn’t really matter much – it is reported to be AI enhanced, but who can tell. However, the message that accompanies the picture? Well, that text is total BS and did not come from McConnell.

You can tell McConnell did not write it by the way it is written (particularly paragraph #2), and more importantly, there is no mention of condolence following Senator Lindsey Graham’s death.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following note to constituents regarding his hospitalization and recovery:

“To my fellow Kentuckians –

“When you elected me to a seventh term and made me our Commonwealth’s longest serving Senator, you did so trusting that I’d keep showing up to fight for you every day. And over the past several weeks, Elaine and I have appreciated both your well wishes and your honest questions about what was keeping me away from the Senate.

“You all know how folks of my generation often hesitate to share the vulnerability that comes with growing older. Even in the public eye, I feel that same instinct – I can’t help it.

“But at the same time, I’ve had more than my share of experience with physical vulnerabilities. Surviving childhood polio meant spending my entire life with mobility challenges. They haven’t exactly gotten easier to manage with age. And last month, I took a fall which landed me in the hospital.

“My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion. I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I’ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia.

“I can assure you that I’ve been a good patient. At my age, I tend to do what my doctors tell me to do. I’ve submitted to every test they can think of to help figure out what caused this incident. And I’m continuing to do everything they ask to speed my recovery. In fact, with signs of continued progress, I’ve been able to move from hospital care to a rehabilitation center where I’ll keep regaining my strength.

“As much as it frustrates me, this process takes time. And on the advice of my doctors, I won’t be able to return to the Senate floor to vote quite yet. But rest assured that, in the meantime, I’m not taking a break from the Senate business that matters to you. I’ve been working closely with my legislative staff on current issues, and with my Kentucky team who help me provide timely constituent services across our Commonwealth. I’ve also been keeping in touch with my Senate colleagues on the appropriations process, midterm politics, and everything in between.

“You’re right to expect your representatives to work hard for you. And part of my decision to retire at the end of my term this coming January was being honest about the demands of Senate work. But I still have unfinished business to complete on your behalf, and I have every intention of finishing the job you elected me to do.

“I’ll keep working hard to get back on the Senate floor as soon as possible. And I’ll keep you posted on the progress of my recovery. Until then, I’m so grateful for your prayers and well wishes.”

###

From the Office of the Attending Physician:

“Senator McConnell has experienced several falls throughout the year that have been attributed to his post-polio condition. He was admitted to the hospital four weeks ago after falling at home and sustaining minor injuries.

“A comprehensive evaluation by a multidisciplinary team determined that he had no fractures, cardiac abnormalities, stroke, tumor, or hemorrhage. Early in his hospitalization, he developed pneumonia, which responded rapidly to antibiotic treatment.

“The remainder of his hospital stay focused on physical therapy and strategies to reduce his risk of future falls. He has been medically cleared to continue fully participating in his intensive physical therapy program.”

Comrade Suspicious Cat remains, well, increasingly suspicious.
