For years, Israel conducted a covert operation aimed at recruiting former Iranian president Ahmadinejad as an intelligence asset and, at a later stage, even planned to install him as Iran’s leader.
Former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is under house arrest by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ intelligence arm after Iranian authorities uncovered a significant portion of his contacts with Israel, The New York Times reported on Monday, citing four senior Iranian officials.
For years, Israel conducted a covert operation aimed at recruiting Ahmadinejad as an intelligence asset and, at a later stage, even planned to install him as Iran’s leader following the overthrow of the regime, according to an extensive New York Times investigation.
According to the report, one of the operation’s more unusual stages took place in early 2024, when a senior Hungarian government official asked Gergely Deli, rector of the Ludovika University of Public Service in Budapest, to invite Ahmadinejad to a conference on climate change.
Deli said he was told that the conference would in fact serve as cover for secret talks between Ahmadinejad and Israeli intelligence officials. Despite concerns about potential damage to his own reputation and that of the university, he agreed to invite Ahmadinejad because he believed that if "you have two enemies, and if these enemies want to talk with each other, then it’s best to do what you can to make them talk."
Former American officials said that former Mossad head David Barnea personally traveled to Budapest in order to meet with Ahmadinejad.

The IRGC says it targeted “several weapons storage depots, a satellite communications center, and a building housing US personnel” at the Naval Support Activity (NSA) facility in Bahrain, the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet.
“This strike comes in response to last night’s confrontation in the Strait of Hormuz,” the IRGC said, adding that the “retaliatory operation” against the latest US attacks “remains ongoing.”

The US Central Command says it has completed its latest wave of strikes against Iran, which lasted more than five hours.

The IRGC claimed that the vessels had switched off their navigation systems after being “deceived” by the US military into using what it described as an illegal route. It warned that cooperation with Washington and attempts to navigate the mined passage would lead to further damage, delays in reopening the strait, and a worsening global energy crisis.

Rep. Paul Gosar Requests HHS and NIH Close Down Fauci’s Rocky Mountain Lab
Republican Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) is asking Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Jayanta Bhattacharya to shut down former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Chief Anthony Fauci’s Rocky Mountain Lab in Montana after White Coat Waste Project (WCW) exposed scandals including virus smuggling as well as monkey bite incidents, Breitbart News exclusively learned.
Watchdog WCW blew the lid off the lab in May, pointing to a whistleblower letter alleging that the lab is in “full coverup mode” following the allegations, which led to charges against Vincent Munster, the former chief of the virus ecology section at Rocky Mountain Laboratories, as well as associate Claude Kwe. The Department of Justice (DOJ) charged them with smuggling vials of deactivated mpox virus into the country.
The whistleblower letter detailed the smuggling and also alleged “that a monkey bite was the cause of an incident first uncovered by WCW in January that exposed an RML lab staffer to Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever — a deadly, foreign virus used by NIH for maximum-pain experiments on monkeys,” according to WCW.
Now, Gosar is demanding that the controversial lab close for good.
“As a follow-up to the letter Senator Joni Ernst and I sent in January of this year concerning dangerous bat virus research at the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML) in Hamilton, Montana, I am writing again regarding the alarming U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) charge, whistleblower allegations, and media reports about recent international pathogen smuggling, biosafety breaches, and related cover-ups associated with dangerous animal research tied to Dr. Anthony Fauci’s RML,” Gosar begins in the letter, ultimately calling on HHS and the NIH to “conduct an immediate safety stand-down at RML to pause all research activities and permanently wind down this facility’s operations.”
Gosar pointed out that while Fauci is no longer at the NIH, his “shameful legacy lives on,” detailing the DOJ charges of Munster and Kwe. He referenced the whistleblower letter received by WCW, noting that this whistleblower alleged that NIH was “aware of this smuggling for months prior to the DOJ’s investigation and proceeded to cover it up.” The lawmaker also pointed to the monkey-bite incident, leading to a staffer being exposed to an “Ebola-like virus.” That, too, was covered up.
Further, Gosar reminded the leaders that he warned about Ebola and this lab in January.
“This lab is breeding and experimenting on bats with Zoonotic viruses, including SARS, coronavirus, and Ebola. Specifically, Dr. Munster and Dr. Kwe’s research included how monkeypox can ‘cross the species barrier,'” he said, ultimately concluding that these “Fauci-connected individuals’ malfeasance proves a dangerous pattern of rogue scientists abusing taxpayer dollars for heinous animal experimentation. ”
“I urge you to reject Fauci’s corruption and deliver on President Donald J. Trump’s promises for ‘radical transparency.’ Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he said.
Gosar said in a statement first obtained by Breitbart News, “Americans have had enough of Fauci-era secrecy and reckless animal experiments with deadly pathogens.”
“If the federal government cannot safely handle some of the world’s deadliest viruses, it has no business conducting this research. The serious virus smuggling and monkey bite allegations surrounding Rocky Mountain Laboratories demand immediate action. I am calling on Secretary Kennedy and Director Bhattacharya to halt and wind-down RML’s dangerous experiments, investigate what went wrong, and hold those responsible fully accountable,” he said, declaring that “taxpayers should never be forced to bankroll research that jeopardizes public safety while bureaucrats hide the truth from the American people.”
WCW’s senior Vice President Justin Goodman also commended Gosar for tackling the issue with this lab, which they refer to as “Wuhan West.”

The US has "completed the latest wave of strikes against Iran" early Tuesday morning, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced in a post on X/Twitter.

CENTCOM added that "More than 50,000 US service members are currently deployed across the Middle East. American forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready."
On Monday evening, US President Donald Trump had vowed that the US would "hit Iran hard tonight and tomorrow," in a radio interview on the Hugh Hewitt show.
"We’re going to hit them very hard tonight, and we’re going to hit them hard tomorrow. And there’s not a damn thing they can do about it. They have nothing," he said.
Shortly after Trump's interview, CENTCOM announced on X that "US Central Command began launching the third consecutive night of strikes against Iran, at the Commander in Chief's direction."
Trump says US could target Iranian nuclear sites
Iranian semi-official news agency Mehr News reported explosions in southern Iranian cities of Kish Island, Sirik Island, Qeshm Island, Bushehr, and Bandar Abbas.
Several areas in southwestern Iranian city of Omidiyeh were hit by US projectiles, Mehr reported.
Speaking about Iran's nuclear power, Trump explained that Pickaxe Mountain, a highly fortified nuclear site one mile south of the Natanz nuclear complex in Iran, "could be the target of a nice, big, fat, shot."
He added that Iran "is not doing well with its nuclear situation. Every time we hear about it, we blow it up. But we'll probably give Pickaxe a shot relatively soon."
Pickaxe Mountain is a heavily fortified site that hosts two deeply buried tunnel complexes that experts assess as beyond the reach of the most powerful bunker-buster bombs in the US arsenal.
Trump also said that "the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was a test, and Tehran didn't honor it," adding that current US military action in Iran could last for two to three weeks.
Despite the escalation, Trump claimed a deal could still be reached, saying "they have been stalling for 47 years, but I still think an agreement is possible."
The president said that he "was not interested in answering" a question about whether Israel will intervene in the strikes tonight. He added that he has a good relationship with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and stated that without the US, "Israel would not be around today."

The proliferation of low-cost suicide drones and interceptor drones appears to be accelerating as nation-states begin stockpiling these expendable platforms, reflecting a rapid and structural shift in modern warfare toward mass, attritable weapons.
More concerning is that some of these drones appear to be marketed far beyond traditional military channels and potentially sold to the highest bidder.
We have already identified what appear to be Chinese companies advertising advanced dual-use drone systems on Facebook, suggesting that drone warfare technologies could soon be easily accessible on the commercial market.
Various companies on Facebook appear to be marketing low-cost suicide drones and interceptor drones that look on par with those seen in Ukraine, as shown on Reels.
The central question is whether these exporters are complying with China’s Export Control Law and the 2024 regulations governing dual-use items. The potential national security risk is clear: low-cost drone systems could be acquired by criminal groups, terrorist networks, or other non-state threat actors with limited technical or financial barriers.
A possible early warning came from Mexico, where authorities recovered a fiber-optic drone. The discovery suggests that technologies refined on modern battlefields, such as in Ukraine, may already be migrating toward the US homeland and other allied countries.

About 2,040 Pounds Of Cocaine, 5,800 Pounds Of Marijuana Seized At Sea
U.S. authorities have seized about 2,040 pounds of cocaine and almost 5,800 pounds of marijuana in three separate maritime interdictions carried out with international partners.
The most recent interdiction involved the Joint Interagency Task Force (JIATF) South and Panama's National Aeronaval Service intercepting a go-fast vessel following a rapid aerial and surface pursuit, JIATF South said in a July 10 post on X. The operation led to the seizure of roughly 2,010 pounds of cocaine.
JIATF South, based in Key West, Florida, is an international alliance that monitors and facilitates the interdiction of drug traffickers in maritime and air domains. Operating across a 42-million-square-mile area, JIATF South involves cooperation from 13 domestic and 20 international partners. The task force seeks to disrupt the flow of illegal drugs and dismantle transnational criminal organizations.
In a second interdiction, JIATF South and authorities from Costa Rica cooperated to intercept a drug smuggling vessel and capture a pick-up boat that was fleeing, according to a July 9 X post. The operation led to the seizure of 3,672 pounds of marijuana, with four suspects arrested.
The third interdiction was a joint operation between JIATF South, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Dominican Republic partners that intercepted a vessel in the Caribbean Sea attempting to transport illicit cargo, the task force said in a July 8 X post.
Authorities seized 2,124 pounds of marijuana and about 30 pounds of cocaine, and detained two smugglers in this incident. A smuggling route operated by a major transnational criminal organization was disrupted.
Drug seizures have risen under the Trump administration.
In a June 18 statement, the CBP said it had seized 56 percent more drugs in the current fiscal year through May than during the same period in fiscal year 2024 under the previous administration.
In the four months between February and May, marijuana seizures averaged 37,033 pounds per month, which is 61 percent higher than the same period in the 2024 fiscal year.
For the month of May, the nationwide seizure of cocaine, marijuana, fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine was 32 percent higher than in May 2024.
"CBP remains on the frontline against drug smuggling, seizing dangerous narcotics before they reach American communities," the agency said.
