Anon's opinion is his right to have but this Anon differs on certain points. Progressivism as a word has been taken hostage in the modern age. Who in their right mind wouldn't want to make progress, right? The devil is in the details; as in what a political movement wants to move from and what it wants to move to.
Although Teddy had many questionable proposals when reading what he had objections to and where he wanted to get to were (imho) noble and worthy motivations that truly wanted to move our country to a better place from struggles we faced.
The progressive movement in todays political state are to destroy the good things, calling them bad, and remake our culture into everything opposed to the very foundational parts of our society. Do we have problems today? Sure, but many of the problems we have are creations of the ongoing pull of movements, civil and political, trying to impose social/Marxist/communist ideas into our culture.
Listen to todays progressive voices, a study of Marxist/Lenin/CCP/Soviet ideas will reveal an intentional effort destroy everything good and replace it with what US society has long held as bad.
Theodore Roosevelt had many contrarian positions that make Anon SMDH but he did make huge contributions to the country that were a part of what makes us great and make "progress" to a better future. Although it was the right thing to do, not running a second election for a third term (first term was due to replacing McKinley) allowed a far more devastating event.
Stepping aside for a more conservative Taft whom he was disappointed with greatly and ran against as a "Progressive" allowed Democrat Woodrow Wilson to become President. Wilson's policies led to many of the woes facing our country to this day.
Many of Teddy's thoughts were evolutionary thoughts based on what he was experiencing at moments in time. There are many writings that had nothing to do with his time in office.
Theodore Roosevelt is probably the president most like Donald J. Trump of any other we've had. Although DJT, Anon feels, likes to think himself more like JFK.
Just a few random thoughts from Anon.
