Israel Continues to Shoot Children in the Head During the Gaza Ceasefire
Bahaa Abu Al-Ajeen, 32, set out with his 3-year-old son Rayan to check on their family home east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza at approximately 5:00 pm on June 14. According to Bahaa, the area appeared safe and deserted. He said there were no visible soldiers, no gunfire, and no drones overhead.
“The area was safe. If I had felt any danger, I would never have gone there,” he said.
After inspecting the house and leaving the area, Bahaa said he was shocked to see Israeli soldiers emerging from a nearby building.
“My son was in my arms and crying intensely from fear,” he recalled. “It was the first time I had ever seen him so frightened.”
According to his account, he decided to move away from the soldiers in an attempt to calm Rayan and walked approximately 500 meters from the area. Bahaa said that after he had distanced himself, the soldiers began shouting at him to stop. He stated that two shots were fired in his direction but did not hit either him or his son, prompting him to stop out of fear for their lives.
“After I stopped, one of the soldiers knelt down and fired directly at my son,” Bahaa said. “The bullet entered the back of Rayan’s head and exited through his left eye. Moments later, another bullet struck my left leg. When I saw them kill my son, I screamed and asked them, ‘He is a child. Why did you kill him?’”
Bahaa said he attempted to call an ambulance using his mobile phone, but the soldiers confiscated it and prevented him from seeking medical assistance. According to Bahaa’s testimony, Rayan bled for approximately seven minutes before dying from his injuries. He said he pleaded with the soldiers to save his son, but they refused.
Hours of Pain
Bahaa stated that after he was wounded and his son was killed, soldiers dragged him while he was still holding Rayan and took him to what he described as a military-controlled area near the Kissufim crossing. Upon arrival, he said, the soldiers took Rayan away from him and left him bleeding on the ground.
By that point, Bahaa said his left leg had been nearly severed. He recalled hearing soldiers discussing whether his leg should be amputated.
“I heard one of them speaking Arabic and saying that my leg was beyond saving and should be amputated,” he said.
The discussion left him terrified. Later, according to Bahaa, soldiers loaded him into an Israeli military vehicle. During the journey, he asked about his son.
“They told me that Rayan was dead,” he said.
Bahaa stated that soldiers then placed Rayan’s body in a black plastic bag and handed it to him.
“At that moment, I wished they had killed me and let my son live,” he said.

Largest US Power Grid Is 6.8 Gigawatts Short To Ensure Reliability On Historic Data Center Boom
The largest US power grid failed for a third straight year to secure enough future supply commitments to ensure reliability for the future amid a historic boom in data center demand.
PJM Interconnection, the largest US power grid (Regional Transmission Organization), which serves 67 million customers in 13 states and Washington, DC, said its auction to procure power for the year starting June 2028 fell 6.8 gigawatts short of what it will need to guarantee system reliability during demand spikes, in a statement released Tuesday. The shortfall is equivalent to almost seven traditional nuclear reactors.
The result ramps up pressure on a grid that’s home to Virginia’s Data Center Alley, the biggest concentration of data centers in the US, and has borne the brunt of criticism for the struggle to manage the AI boom and sufficiently protect customers from soaring costs. Attention now shifts to an emergency procurement mechanism later this year that aims to shift the burden of ramping up power generation to hyperscalers.

PJM Interconnection today announced the results of its 2028/2029 Base Residual Auction (BRA), which secured 138,318 MW of unforced capacity generation (UCAP) and demand response to meet projected electricity needs for the more than 67 million people across 13 states and the District of Columbia, which fall under the RTO's umbrella.
Regions under the Fixed Resource Requirement (FRR) acquired an additional 10,864 MW in UCAP, for a total of 149,182 MW in UCAP available to serve forecasted peak electricity demand, plus a reserve margin. UCAP represents a generation resource’s maximum output adjusted for its estimated ability to reliably perform at times of highest system risk. The capacity of the resources procured in the auction, plus FRR resources, is short of PJM’s reliability requirement by 6,831 MW, meaning that the committed supply is less than what would be required to meet the one-event-in-10-year reliability standard (and with electricity-guzzling data centers popping up almost daily these days, the one-event-in-10-year has become a daily occurrence).

The New Israel-Backed Nonprofit Feeding Lawmakers Model Legislation
The State Legislator Israel Caucus says it’s an independent nonprofit. The Israeli government discreetly paid for its first D.C. junket.
On June 2, politicians from around America, including Trump administration official Leo Terrell, met at the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C. for a glitzy reception. The next day, they met Sen. John Fetterman (D–Pa.) in his office. The event celebrated the launch of a little-known nonprofit—the State Legislator Israel Caucus.
Little public information exists about SLIC, which grew out of an earlier Israeli government-funded junket for American politicians. The group’s website has only a basic contact form, and its nonprofit registration has not yet appeared in the official database, which usually takes a few months. The June 2 event was not reported anywhere except for a Facebook post (and identical Instagram post) by SLIC cofounder Michael Gottlieb, a Democratic state legislator in Florida.
Documents obtained by Drop Site News under the Florida Sunshine Law outline SLIC’s aims: to set up a system to distribute pro-Israel “model legislation” to state lawmakers around the country. When reached by phone, Gottlieb insisted that the organization was entirely his own initiative, though he acknowledged that the Israeli government funded the launch event.
SLIC is maintaining a Dropbox account to share language for bills, according to the launch event invitation obtained under the Florida Sunshine Law. The linked account is not available for members of the public to view.
“I believe I’m the only person who has contributed so far,” Gottlieb said, referring to the draft legislation his organization is pitching lawmakers. Gottlieb mentioned two specific examples of future proposals he had in mind: “Some states have had Shari’a law bans, so somebody could put that there if they wanted, and there are Judea and Samaria bills.”
Earlier this year, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill against applying Islamic law in Florida, stating that “we shouldn’t have people in this country that hate this country.” The state legislature is currently considering a bill to ban calling the West Bank by anything other than the Israeli nationalist term “Judea and Samaria,” which Gottlieb insists is the correct name.
“Anybody could contribute anything to it,” Gottlieb added, referring to the Dropbox account. “It wouldn’t necessarily have to be Israel-focused or Jewish-focused or antisemitism-focused. You could put it in there for anybody to see.”
Gottlieb’s Facebook post claims that 75 lawmakers from 35 states have joined SLIC so far,and the launch event invitation promises to release a directory, with the option for members to remain anonymous due to “antisemitism and doxxing issues.” Emily Gise, a Republican state legislator from Oklahoma, is listed as vice chair on the invitation. Jeremy England, a Republican state legislator from Mississippi, is listed as treasurer. Neither responded to requests for comment. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the invitation explains, “SLIC will not as an organization take a role in lobbying for candidates or legislation, instead we will serve as a vault so that members can access this information and utilize it for their states, as they deem appropriate.”
The U.S. tax code limits the political lobbying that 501(c)(3) organizations can engage in. While nonprofits are absolutely forbidden from campaigning in elections, they are allowed to attempt “to influence legislation” by contacting lawmakers, as long as it is not a “substantial” part of their activities, according to the Internal Revenue Service. However, the IRS gives nonprofits wide latitude to “educate” the public about specific issues without it counting as lobbying.

The Crusades extending from the 11th to the 14th Century are often presented by historians as “a continuous series of military-religious expeditions made by European Christians in the hope of wresting the Holy Land from the infidel Turks.” The objective of the Crusades, however, had little to do with religion.
The Crusades largely consisted, through military action, in challenging the dominion of the Muslim merchant societies, which controlled the Eastern trade routes.
The “Just War” supported the Crusades.
War was waged with the support of the Catholic Church, acting as an instrument of religious propaganda and indoctrination, which was used in the enlistment throughout Europe of thousands of peasants, serfs and urban vagabonds.

CLEVELAND – The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio has announced the unsealing of an indictment charging three Russian nationals for their roles in malicious cyber activities against U.S. critical infrastructure affecting victims in 21 states and in several countries, with losses amounting to tens of millions of dollars. These charges are the result of a seven-year-long investigation.
A federal grand jury returned an indictment in December 2024 charging the following defendants with Conspiracy to Commit and Aid and Abet Computer Fraud, Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud, Wire Fraud, and Conspiracy to Commit Money Laundering:

More Than 40 Gang Members From Newburgh And Poughkeepsie Sentenced To Prison For Racketeering, Violence, Narcotics, And Firearms Offenses
United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Jay Clayton, announced today the last sentencing of gang members and narcotics distributors as a result of a long-running investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”) in Newburgh and Poughkeepsie, New York. 26 of the defendants were convicted of being members, associates, and co-conspirators of the violent street gang the Young Gunnaz (“YG”), including YG leader Kashad Sampson. 12 of the defendants were convicted of being members and associates of the violent street gang the Double Nine Grim Reapers (“Grimz”), including Grimz leaders Jeremy Williams, Randy Jones, and James White. U.S. District Judge Kenneth M. Karas imposed the sentences in the YG case, United States v. Kashad Sampson, et al., 22 Cr. 640, and U.S. District Judge Philip M. Halpern imposed the sentences in the Grimz case, United States v. Jeremy Williams, et al., 22 Cr. 641. RODNEY GEORGE, a defendant in the Sampson case, was the last in this series to be sentenced and received 108 months in prison.
“For years, members and associates of the Young Gunnaz and the Double Nine Grim Reapers brought shootings, armed robberies, narcotics trafficking, and fraud to communities across the Hudson Valley,” said U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton. “Today’s final sentencing marks the end of a years-long prosecution that removed over 40 of these violent gang members and drug traffickers from our streets. No gang should get to claim a block, a neighborhood, or a city as its own, and this Office will continue to work with our federal, state, and local partners to dismantle violent criminal organizations and protect the communities they prey upon.”

Since at least 2018, the Grimz has been a brutally violent street gang. The Grimz was founded by co-defendants Jeremy Williams, a/k/a “Dubs,” and Randy Jones, a/k/a “Nickelz,” and has hundreds of members across New York State, including throughout Orange County, Dutchess County, and the New York State prison system. The Grimz is a highly organized and efficient street gang with an organizational commitment to violence that strictly enforces its internal laws and celebrates gun violence. The highest-ranking members and leaders of the Grimz, like co-defendants James White, a/k/a “Infared,” and Octavious Griffin, a/k/a “Tate,” have so-called “serial numbers” within the Grimz, which include the name of a 9-millimeter firearm.
Since at least 2019, the YG has been a violent street gang that operated through New York State and engaged in large-scale narcotics trafficking, wire fraud, armed robberies, and shootings. For the most part, the YG defendants were part of the PlayBoyGzz subset of YG, which was led by, among others, co-defendant Kashad Sampson, a/k/a “Shoca.” Like the Grimz, senior members of YG glorified violence and demanded action from its members.

SAVANNAH, Georgia: The former executive director of the Hinesville Housing Authority (HHA) and another individual have been indicted on multiple counts of Wire Fraud and Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud.
Margaret E. “Meg” Heap, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, announced the indictments.
Melanie S. Thompson, 55, of Savannah, was indicted for Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud, 19 counts of Wire Fraud, and two counts of False, Fictitious, or Fraudulent Claims. Toriono L. Byrd, 52, of Savannah, is charged in the indictment with Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud.
Criminal indictments contain only charges; defendants are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
As described in the indictment, beginning as early as September 2019 and continuing through October 2023, while employed with the HHA, Thompson is alleged to have created or authorized false invoices, directed to Byrd’s private business, which authorized payments to Byrd for work that was never completed, or in amounts that far exceeded the actual value of the work. Upon receiving these payments, Byrd is alleged to have made return payments, or kickbacks, to Thompson for her personal use and benefit.
The indictment further alleges that through her role as executive director, Thompson directed multiple fraudulent payments to herself through the payroll system, directed payments of fraudulent bonuses to which she was not entitled, and that Thompson made false Covid-era loan applications to the federal government.
In all, the scheme is alleged to have resulted in a loss of more than $2.5 million for the HHA.
The charges carry statutory penalties upon conviction of up to 20 years in prison, along with substantial financial penalties and up to three years of supervised release upon completion of any prison term.

Trump claims ‘other people’ could lead ground campaign in Iran
The US president has vowed to escalate strikes against civilian infrastructure unless Tehran bows to his demands.
US President Donald Trump has refused to rule out a ground campaign in Iran, claiming that unspecified allied forces could seize key strategic sites like Kharg Island without the involvement of American troops, while threatening to expand the bombing campaign to include power plants and bridges.
In an interview with Fox News on Tuesday, Trump said he would consider a ground operation “if I thought it was appropriate.”
“Sometimes you need a ground campaign, but we have other people who will do the ground campaign for us… But we have already hit Kharg Island twice, even three times. I said, ‘Hit everything but the oil!’” Trump said.
Located about 25km (15 miles) off Iran’s Gulf coast, Kharg Island handles roughly 90% of the country’s crude exports and serves as the primary outlet for its oil revenues.
Ahead of the now-broken April ceasefire, Trump had already threatened to seize Kharg Island “to take the oil.” Asked directly whether he still intended to seize the island, Trump replied: “As far as taking it is concerned, if we degrade them far enough and deep enough, I would do that.”
The president also vowed to intensify the air campaign, saying US strikes would continue until he personally decided “it’s enough.”
“They’ll continue until I say it’s enough. Next week comes the power plants. Next week comes the bridges. We’re going to knock out all their power plants. We’re going to knock out all their bridges, unless they get to the table and negotiate,” Trump said.
Trump further warned that Iran “won’t have anybody left” unless it reached a deal with Washington, claiming US officials had relayed that message to Tehran during contacts held “about an hour ago.”
“We’re being very careful with the civilian population,” said Trump, who has repeatedly threatened to bomb Iran into oblivion, once warning that “a whole civilization will die” if Tehran failed to comply with US and Israeli demands.
More than 1,500 civilians have been killed in Iran since the US-Israeli bombing campaign began on February 28, according to local authorities. One of the deadliest incidents was the strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ elementary school in Minab, which killed 168 people, mostly children. Open-source investigations by multiple media outlets have concluded that the school was likely hit during a US strike on a nearby IRGC naval base. Trump repeatedly denied American responsibility but said last month that “mistakes are made” and “nobody did that on purpose.”

US President Donald Trump urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone call last week to begin withdrawing Israeli troops from southern Syria and Lebanon, Barak Ravid of Channel 12 and Axios reported Tuesday, citing American and Israeli officials.
According to the report on the Thursday call, Trump warned that Israel’s military presence in Syrian territory is creating tensions that could lead to an escalation, telling Netanyahu, “They don’t want you there. You should redeploy.” He reportedly made a similar request regarding Lebanon.
Netanyahu was said to push back, citing Israel’s security needs.
According to the report, Washington for months sought a security agreement between Israel and Syria but eventually came to the conclusion that Netanyahu was not willing to meet the necessary terms, including pulling troops out of Syria.
The Prime Minister’s Office said last week that during the call, Netanyahu stressed “the need for security zones along Israel’s borders,” while the White House declined to comment on the substance of the report but highlighted Trump’s “strong relationship” with Netanyahu and described the US president as “a fighter for peace.”
Last month, Israel agreed to withdraw its forces from two designated “pilot zones” in southern Lebanon as part of ongoing negotiations with Beirut to allow the Lebanese Armed Forces to assume security control in those areas, with the aim of ensuring that it is clear of Hezbollah weapons. But two and a half weeks have passed and Israel has yet to pull out from either pilot zone, slowing talks between the sides.

Government says $431 million allocated last month for 34 new West Bank settlements
Ministers Smotrich and Strock declare a ‘day of celebration’ for plan that is ‘killing’ possibility of Palestinian state
The government announced Tuesday that NIS 1.3 billion ($431 million) was allocated by the security cabinet last month to fund the establishment of dozens of new West Bank settlements approved by Israel over the last three and a half years.
The cabinet decision was formulated by the Prime Minister’s Office, and will be implemented by the Settlements Ministry and the Housing and Construction Ministry.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Settlements Minister Orit Strock announced the details in a joint press conference, stating that the funds would be used to establish “pioneer neighborhoods” at the sites of newly approved settlements, which will include prefabricated homes, roads and infrastructure.
Smotrich, who has long opposed Palestinian statehood, is the head of the Religious Zionism party that draws much of its support from settlements. He is also in charge of the Defense Ministry Settlement Administration, which oversees settlement activities in the West Bank.
Declaring the cabinet’s decision historic and a “day of celebration for Israel and settlements,” Smotrich thanked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his support.
“We are strengthening the security of the State of Israel, killing the idea of establishing a terrorist state in the heart of the country, and strengthening our hold on the homeland in Judea and Samaria,” Smotrich said in a statement, using the biblical term for the West Bank.
“There has never been a Zionist-settlement decision of this size in the whole history of Zionism since it was founded,” Strock said.
