House votes to make daylight saving time permanent

The legislation faces an uncertain path in the Senate.

The House passed legislation Tuesday to end the nation’s biannual practice of changing the clocks — a vote that sowed division in both parties and now faces an uphill battle in the Senate despite strong lobbying from the White House and personal engagement from President Donald Trump.

The final vote of 308-117 did not break down neatly along party lines. Twenty-two Republicans opposed iteven as the Trump administration put out a Statement of Administrative Policy encouraging its enactment.

Many Florida lawmakers extolled the legislation, with the state’s chief economic drivers — tourism, recreation, restaurants and golfing — standing to benefit from the extra hours of daylight in the evenings year-round.

“Why in the heck are we still changing our clocks?” Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) asked during floor debate on the bill. “Floridians — we are the sunshine state. We value sunshine.”

Rep. Gus Bilirakis, another Florida Republican, added: “This is not about politics. This is about practicality. It is about recognizing that our laws should keep pace with the people we represent.”

Other members, however, were critical of the effort. Agriculture state lawmakers are especially wary of delaying daylight for farmers, while others fear the extra hours of darkness in the morning would pose risks to mental health, public safety and sleep habits.

“I’m not for it,” Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said in an interview, “because I think having kids go to school when it’s dark doesn’t make sense, and that’s the major reason.”

Democrats devoted significant time during closed-door meetings Monday and Tuesday to debate the pros and cons of adopting permanent daylight saving time as the top Democrat on House Energy and Commerce, Rep. Frank Pallone of New Jersey, tried hard to sell it.

Pallone’s committee adopted the Sunshine Protection Act as a bipartisan amendment to be included in a measure reauthorizing surface transportation programs. On Tuesday, he called it something on which “many Americans actually agree.” He claimed that only 12 percent of Americans want to keep the clock-changing practice as is, adding that it’s associated with an increase in heart attacks and strokes.

In the end, 95 Democrats voted against the bill on the floor Tuesday…

The Republicans in senate will block Trump’s intent to stop anything he is for! Evil!

House GOP breaks weeks-long standoff between Republican leaders and hardliners

BY SUDIKSHA KOCHI AND EMILY BROOKS 07/14/26 02:44

House Republicans on Tuesday broke a weeks-long impasse that had brought much of the chamber’s legislative business to a standstill, passing a rule that sets up floor debate and final votes on several measures.

The 215-211 vote delivers a key win for Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), who had spent weeks trying to unify his conference as conservative hardliners pressed leadership to take more aggressive action on the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act and legislation to codify President Trump’s border policies.

Johnson ultimately won over Reps. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) and Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), both of whom had opposed the rule before the July 4 recess, by advancing a plan to merge the SAVE America Act with a fiscal 2027 appropriations bill funding the State Department and national security programs — a legislative maneuver known on Capitol Hill as “MIRVing.”

“If SAVE America is stripped out in the Senate, the blame will fall solely on John Thune,” Luna wrote on the social platform X, referring to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D).

Luna said that her vote was conditioned on Johnson merging the SAVE America Act on all appropriations bills and must-pass bills. Asked Tuesday about the plan for using the MIRV maneuver liberally, Johnson said: “Be watching for lots of MIRVs.”

Burchett said after the vote that GOP leaders attached the SAVE America Act “in a manner” that he thought was sufficient.

“And that’s what we need. We need to just keep pounding the Senate and forcing them to take the right stand,” Burchett said.

Burchett said President Trump “has been very engaged” in negotiations between hardliners and GOP leaders.

Several members of the House Freedom Caucus, including Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), had also been frustrated over inaction on a border bill, which they had wanted a vote on before July 4.

Freedom Caucus members appeared to relent after getting a commitment for a committee markup on the border and immigration bill they had been demanding.

Rep. Keith Self (R-Texas) said that the bill, which was known as H.R. 2 in the last Congress, will be marked up the House Judiciary Committee next week.

Johnson; leadership staff; and Rep. Mario Diaz Balart (R-Fla.), the chair of the Appropriations subcommittee in charge of the State Department funding bill that that rule would tee up, were spotted spotted in an animated discussion on the House foor just ahead of the vote with Freedom Caucus Chair Andy Harris (R-Md.), Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.), Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), and Rep. Keith Self (R-Texas). Johnson also huddled with Roy.

Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-Ariz.), a swing-seat member who was born in Mexico, jumped into the animated discussion, along with wwing-seat member Rep. David Valadao (R-Calif.) and House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).

“We made significant progress on moving forward on border security provisions, [ending] birthright citizenship, and other things that are critically important. And we know there will be action next week on what landed,” Roy said after the vote.

In the end, Rep. Randy Fine (Fla.) was the only Republican to vote “no.”…

President Trump Says Announcement on Thursday is “Really Big News” About Election Integrity

July 14, 2026 | Sundance |

President Trump was asked about his Thursday 9:00pm ET presidential address to the nation on “election integrity” and other matters. President Trump responded today by saying the announcement is “really big news, it’s really, really big news, and our country has to shape up.” WATCH:

The general chatter amid the various DC interests and specific subject matter experts who seemingly have information and knowledge of the matter suggests the content of the election integrity aspect will be to highlight how Chinese interests have worked within our body politic to influence U.S. elections.

There will likely be specific citations, particularly to election investigations in Michigan, but generally the international aspect revolves mostly around China with some ancillary information about Venezuela. CCP organizations also have compromising information on members of congress which will likely be highlighted and raise eyebrows.

President Trump will be joined in the event by CIA Director John Ratcliffe, acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte, FBI Director Kash Patel, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin and others. However, caution should be noted as newly appointed Special Government Employee John Solomon is responsible for the content.
