A federal judge has just handed Navy veteran and conservative commentator Kolton Krottinger a massive win in his lawsuit against Hood County officials.

Krottinger, a Navy veteran and local journalist, was arrested in November 2025 after authorities accused him of “online impersonation” over a satirical political meme posted to the “Hood County Sheepdogs” Facebook page.

The page openly described itself as satire, and Krottinger maintained that the meme was protected political speech.

His alleged “crime”? A photoshopped meme posted to another page that made it look like Tina Brown was endorsing Monica Brown for school board. In reality, Tina supported the rival.

The House of Representatives voted late Tuesday night to fully fund the government through a short-term continuing resolution until December 4 as another government funding deadline looms.

The House is scheduled to recess on July 24 until August 31. Funding for federal agency programs is set to expire at midnight on September 30.

The bill passed by a vote of 220-205.

Thomas Massie (R-KY) was the only Republican to vote against the bill. Only six Democrats voted in favor.

House Speaker Mike Johnson released a statement following the bill’s passage, slamming the 204 House Democrats for their recent history of record-breaking government shutdowns. “It’s clear they don’t care what kind of pain they inflict on the American people or the hundreds of thousands of federal workers who would be forced to work without pay,” Johnson said, noting that the Democrats “will own the chaos” if the bill fails to pass the Senate.

Ortega has been in power since 2007.

The pro-Cuban communist made the announcement during an official speech in Managua commemorating the 47th anniversary of the 1979 Sandinista Revolution, that is traditionally observed on July 19th.

Ortega has jailed many of the potential rival candidates. US Democrats are following in his footsteps as they continue to persecute Trump and his supporters including supporters in the media.

A seemingly frightening moment ensued during a Delta Airlines flight from Detroit to New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday when the air traffic control tower alerted pilots to a reported rocket launcher on the ground.

Air traffic control radio from atc.com synced with the airplane’s flight path shows the report coming in as the plane nears the airport.

During the jet’s descent into LaGuardia at about 8:53 pm ET, the air traffic control tower said, “MANPAD alert issued at LaGuardia Airport at 0027. Use extreme caution.”

The pilot responded, “Could you explain what a MANPAD is?”

“Yeah, that’s a manned portable air defense system,” the air traffic controller said. “Yeah, it’s a basically was a report of a rocket launcher,” he added with a chuckle.

“There was a report by the Port Authority Police. They said by, I believe, Terminal C. We’ve had conflicting reports, but nothing has been an issue as of yet,” the controller added.

The pilot remained cool and calm, responding, “Okay, Delta 2604. Thanks for the information.”

The controller confirmed about two minutes later that it was a “noncredible threat.”

OpenAI disclosed Tuesday that a combination of its AI models, including GPT-5.6 Sol and a more capable unreleased model, escaped its testing environment and hacked AI startup Hugging Face last week to cheat on a test meant to measure their capabilities.

In a blog post, OpenAI said the evaluation was designed to operate in a highly isolated environment with restricted network access. The models, however, found a way to gain internet access through a zero-day vulnerability in an internally-hosted third party software, OpenAI said.

Earlier this week, we detected and responded to an intrusion into part of our production infrastructure. This one was different from anything we had handled before in one important way: it was driven, end to end, by an autonomous AI agent system – and we detected and dissected it largely with AI of our own.

Hugging Face tried to respond but they were initially held back by the fact that the most advanced models at their disposal treated defense as attack and refused to work with Hugging Face. HF thus had to turn to open models–specifically GLM 5.2, a Chinese open-weight model run on their own infrastructure. Note the irony: HF had to use a Chinese model to defend themselves because the American models refused to help. The irony gets deeper.

This was not a production model spontaneously turning hostile. It was a capable model with guardrails off and specifically told to win a hacking test - doing whatever it took to win.

Trump's announcement is the latest effort to reshore critical supply chains, and in this case, boost domestic production of generic drugs. Trump has been pressuring drugmakers through his most-favored-nation drug pricing policy to lower prices to what people pay in ‌other high-income countries. At least 90% of medicines sold in the U.S. are generics.

Casias, 53, vanished from her Ranchos de Taos home on June 26, 2025. She left without her purse, keys or wallet. Surveillance captured her walking alone eastward on State Road 518 around 2:20 p.m.

Both her work and personal phones were found at the house, factory-reset and wiped of all data. A blood drop was also discovered inside the residence. Nearly eleven months later, on May 28, 2026, a hiker located her skeletal remains in the McGaffey Ridge area of Carson National Forest next to a handgun her family says did not belong to her.

Tragically, there's a mounting death toll among crew members caught in the crossfire. One of the biggest single casualty events - if not the biggest - was the result of a Russian attack on the Golden Leo, a Guinea-Bissau-flagged ship, on Sunday.

Three cruise missiles reportedly hit the vessel, killing ten people, including four Indian citizens. The other dead were from Syria, and one Ukrainian, and the incident has outraged these countries, especailly India.

Throughout the Ukraine war India and Russia have remained key energy trading partners, but this Black Sea incident has introduced fresh tensions.

India’s Foreign Ministry confirmed Tuesday that it summoned a senior Russian diplomat to fiercely protest the attack and deaths of Indian nationals.

"Such attacks undermine the safety, security and stability of international maritime commerce," India’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement upon summoning Russian chargé d’affaires Vladimir Ladanov.

A doctor at Toronto’s SickKids Hospital is facing charges and has been placed on immediate leave in connection with a months-long investigation into internet child exploitation, the city’s police force says.

Toronto police’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit launched an investigation in January following allegations that an electronic device was allegedly used to access and download child sexual abuse and exploitation materials, the police service said in a press release.

Search warrants were executed by investigators in February, at the Hospital for Sick Children, better known as SickKids, as well as at a home, police said. Officers seized several devices, including a work computer.

Dr. Dilan Dissanayake was arrested on July 21 in connection with the investigation, police said. The 44-year-old pediatric rheumatologist has been charged with possession and access to child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

“At this time, investigators have found no evidence that the child sexual abuse and exploitation material is connected to his practice as a physician,” police said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.

Statistics Canada reports that both the rates and severity of crime were down almost across the board in 2025.

The agency said Wednesday Canada’s crime severity index dropped five percent last year for the second annual decline in a row.

The full text of the agreement surrounding the opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge has been released, following calls for clarification about its contents from the Conservative Party.

The document, posted online late on July 21 and described as a “proposed agreement in principle,” says Canada will share 50 percent of the bridge’s net revenue during its first 15 years of operation with an economic development fund “established and solely controlled” by the U.S. government.
