The Palestinian Authority is trying to have Sebastia recognized by UNESCO as a Palestinian heritage site.
Because when you don't have your own ancient heritage, you steal someone else's.
The city was founded as Shomron (Samaria), the capital of the Kingdom of Israel in the 9th century BCE, and was renamed Sebastia by Herod, King of Judea, in the 1st century BCE.
