Good morning, X.
Did you know…
Back in 1999, Elon Musk sent one of the first peer-to-peer payments using the domain you are on right now. X.com.
But a year later, while Elon was on his honeymoon, Peter Thiel and the rest of the PayPal mafia pulled a power move. Ousted him as CEO. Scrapped the X brand. Rebranded everything as PayPal.
Why? Because Elon wanted to go bigger than payments. He was already talking about replacing the entire financial system. No banks. No middlemen. A full rewrite.
That scared the fook out of people. Pushed out for thinking too far ahead.
So he stepped back and played the long game.
He realized something:
If you want to rebuild money, really rebuild it, you can’t just build an app.
You need your own infrastructure. Your own pipes. Your own satellites. Your own network. You need to be able to sideline with a flick of a switch.
In 2002 SpaceX launches. Rockets built. To get to Mars? Maybe? But thinking Elon has a score to settle.
Fast-forward to 2015. Starlink is born.
Trump enters the picture in 2016. Starlink’s first two satellite launches in 2018. By the end of Trump’s first term, Starlink is up to 1,000 satellites.
Fast-forward to now. Almost 8,000 satellites blanketing the planet.
Always on.
No wires. No borders. No third-party choke points. Works with your existing phone—for the basics.
Global, decentralized banking from the sky. Ready for the perfect protocol that will bridge the old with the new.
The vision from 1999 was not wrong. It was just early.
Now the tech’s here. The pieces are in place. X.com is back online, and all systems are a go.
Just waiting for takeoff.
