The fact that a U.S. citizen must go all the way to SCOTUS to affirm their Constitutional right shows how much our rights have been eroded. Authorities that have no fear trampling on your rights, do so because they know it's a crap-shoot even at SCOTUS. They know are likely to win with the activist Marxist judges. They will push as far as possible. They care nothing for the Constitution, and quite frankly want to see you go bye-bye.
They won't pass it. This is the deepstate's interim revenge, something large they are able to do to malign Trump. The following revenge phase happens after Trump is out of office. I hope citizen Trump is prepared, because they won't stop.

US has 3rd highest World murder rate BUT if you remove 5 cities of Chicago-Detroit-Washington DC-St Louis-Philadelphia then US is 189th out of 193 World countries. All 5 cities have strict gun control laws & Democrat controlled.
