Rep. Thomas Massie is breaking with his own party to join Democrats in a resolution that would compel Speaker Mike Johnson to sue the Trump administration over the Iran war.
Massie accuses Trump and Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth of violating two sections of the War Powers Resolution of 1973 — arguing the White House has ignored a concurrent resolution passed under the law and exploited a loophole by claiming temporary ceasefires reset the 60-day clock on presidential military activity.
The Kentucky congressman also ripped Johnson for letting Congress's war powers "atrophy" out of "political expediency." Massie's defiance already cost him his seat — Trump backed a primary challenger who defeated him.
