Former U.S. Navy SEAL Sentenced for Transporting Explosives to Throw at Law Enforcement at California Protests
ALBUQUERQUE – A former U.S. Navy SEAL who intended to use explosives against law enforcement officers at California protests and whose actions prosecutors argued were motivated by extremist, antisemitic beliefs was sentenced to 16 months in prison.
There is no parole in the federal system.
According to court records and evidence presented at trial, on June 12, 2025, Gregory Vandenberg, 49, was traveling from El Paso, Texas, to San Diego, California, to attend the “No Kings Day” protests scheduled for June 14, 2025. While in New Mexico, Vandenberg visited a travel center off Interstate 10 near Lordsburg and purchased six large mortar fireworks, which are designed to shoot high into the air and explode, and 72 M-150 firecrackers, which are designed to sound like gunfire. During this visit, he told the store clerk that he intended to throw fireworks at police officers at the upcoming protests. He asked detailed questions about the amount of gunpowder in the fireworks, their explosive impact, and their ability to harm others. He also discussed taping multiple fireworks together to increase their explosive force. Vandenberg emphasized that he was not interested in the color or display of the fireworks, only in their ability to create explosions and injure law enforcement officers. He also encouraged the clerk to join him at the protests and discussed distributing fireworks to others at the event.
Employees, alarmed by Vandenberg’s statements and his repeated expressions of intent to throw explosives at law enforcement officers, recorded his license plate and contacted law enforcement. Authorities later alleged that Vandenberg intended to use the fireworks against law enforcement personnel during the protests, conduct that prosecutors described as posing a serious risk of injury or death to officers and bystanders alike.
Federal agents tracked Vandenberg to Tucson, Arizona, and arrested him the following morning while he was sleeping in his car at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Vandenberg initially claimed to be traveling for work (despite being unemployed at the time) and later falsely stated he was visiting friends in Phoenix that weekend.
A search of his vehicle revealed the purchased fireworks, along with clothing displaying antisemitic, anti-Israel, and extremist imagery, including a shirt bearing the Al-Qaeda flag and another calling for the destruction of Judea. Agents also discovered that the home screen on Vandenberg’s phone displayed the Taliban flag. Investigators further determined that Vandenberg had worn a custom-made shirt bearing the word “AMALEK” during his visit to the travel center, which he stated meant “destroyer of Jews.”
A review of Vandenberg’s phone revealed antisemitic, anti-Israel, anti-U.S., and extremist content, including internet searches and messages expressing hostility toward Jews and Israel. According to court records, investigators found messages indicating that Vandenberg viewed the United States government as being controlled by Israel and Jewish people and that those beliefs motivated his desire to target law enforcement officers at the protests. Prosecutors argued that his conduct was driven by extremist, antisemitic views and posed a grave threat to public safety.
On January 12, 2026, following a five-day jury trial, a federal jury convicted Vandenberg of transportation of explosives with intent to kill, injure or intimidate and attempted transportation of prohibited fireworks into California. Upon his release from prison, Vandenberg will be subject to one year of supervised release.

Fauci Toadies Privately Called Lab Leak Theory ‘Highly Likely’ While Publicly Shutting It Down
The greatest threat to public trust comes when powerful people and institutions use their authority to suppress the truth.
The latest revelations from Sen. Rand Paul’s investigation into the origin of Covid expose what may be one of the most consequential scientific deceptions in history.
The 1,123 pages of private Slack messages exchanged among the authors of the highly influential “Proximal Origin” paper reveal that the scientists who publicly declared that a laboratory origin of Covid was not plausible privately held a very different view. They repeatedly acknowledged that a laboratory origin remained possible, discussed flaws in their own arguments, and struggled to defend the natural origin theory.
In the first batch of Slack messages between the authors, which was released by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic in 2023, Kristian Andersen of Scripps Research, the lead author of “Proximal Origin,” privately described the possibility of a laboratory origin as “friggin’ likely.” In another exchange, he wrote, “The main issue is that accidental escape is in fact highly likely — it’s not some fringe theory,” and elsewhere another author acknowledged that Covid “easily could have” leaked from a laboratory. Yet only weeks later, on March 17, 2020, they published “Proximal Origin,” declaring that a laboratory-based scenario was not plausible.
When those earlier messages became public, Andersen offered a simple explanation. He argued that his initial doubts had been resolved before publication and that the messages merely reflected a normal scientific process of considering possibilities before reaching a conclusion.
The latest Slack disclosures completely destroy that claim.
The doubts did not disappear after publication. The newly released messages show the authors continuing to wrestle with evidence they found troubling. In one exchange from June 2020, Andersen wrote: “Gotta say — some smoking(ish) guns starting to appear that I’m not comfortable with.”
But rather than publicly admitting that their paper got it wrong, they instead discussed strategies for defending the natural-origin theory and finding arguments that could preserve it despite mounting problems.
The Genesis Of The Paper And The Hidden Hand Of Anthony Fauci
To understand why the scientists doubled down on their deception, it is necessary to understand how “Proximal Origin” came into existence and how it became one of the most influential scientific papers of the modern era.
“Proximal Origin” was conceived during a secret teleconference convened by Anthony Fauci on Feb. 1, 2020, as concerns grew that Covid might have originated from a laboratory. During that call, Fauci directed a group of scientists, led by Andersen and Robert Garry of Tulane University, and including Andrew Rambaut of the University of Edinburgh and Edward Holmes of the University of Sydney, to produce a paper addressing the possibility of a laboratory origin. Lipkin did not participate in the Slack exchanges that have since become public.
Upon its March 17, 2020 publication in Nature Medicine, the article reached a sweeping conclusion that a lab-based scenario was entirely implausible.
Despite Fauci’s central involvement in initiating the effort and shaping the discussion around the paper, his role was not disclosed to the public. The public was left with the impression that “Proximal Origin” represented an independent scientific assessment rather than a paper whose creation had been facilitated by the nation’s leading infectious disease official. That omission was particularly consequential because Fauci had himself been involved in funding gain-of-function research conducted at the Wuhan Institute of Virology after similar research had been restricted in the United States, making him not merely a commentator on the controversy but a figure directly implicated in the questions the paper sought to settle.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party are now in crisis mode, trying to cover up the $1 million bribe paid by Chinese businessman Felix Lee for dinner with Albanese and others.
The real story is who organised the $1 million dinner, which was almost certainly former treasurer Joe Hockey, who is Chairman of the company paying the bribe and who leaked the dinner and bribe to the media to damage Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party.

Anthony Albanese and his 30-year relationship with Joe Hockey
When you look at the decades-long relationship between Anthony Albanese and Joe Hockey, it is very powerful circumstantial evidence that it was Joe Hockey who organised the dinner with Albanese and the $1 million bribe.
Anthony Albanese and Joe Hockey both entered politics on the 2nd of March 1996, with Hockey retiring in 2015.
In 1998 Albanese and Hockey traveled to Palestine together, and in 1999 they co-founded the Parliamentary Friends of Palestine group. Hockey discusses Albanese and the Palestine trip in the below video when Hockey gave a talk at the National Press Club of Australia on the 26th of May, 2026.
As a side note, it’s ironic that Joe Hockey has a Palestinian background, but he is now cashing in on AUKUS with his Bondi Partners business, and he supports the US, which has supplied most of the bombs that have destroyed Palestine and killed at least 75,000 people.
Over the years Anthony Albanese and Joe Hockey have debated on numerous TV and radio shows, such as Channel 7’s Sunrise and ABC Radio.
When Joe Hockey retired from parliament in 2015, Anthony Albanese gave a valedictory speech for Joe Hockey, which you would think he would have only done for a close friend given they were on opposite sides of politics. (Click here to read the speech)
On the 20th of March 2023, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met with Joe Hockey, who has set up his business Bondi Partners to cash in on AUKUS, in his office, and Albanese posted a picture of the meeting on Twitter (now “X”). (Click here to see on “X” and click here to see in my previous article)
Albanese posting the picture would have been deliberate to send a message to all public servants that Joe Hockey is a person to deal with on AUKUS because he is mates with the Prime Minister.
Given the close relationship between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Joe Hockey, who would have each other’s mobile phone numbers on speed dial, it was clearly Hockey who contacted Anthony Albanese and organised the dinner and $1 million bribe.
