New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani posted a mocking notification to people about his new pied-à-terre tax, saying they should check their mail because “you’ve got mail.” It's bad enough that he was imposing more taxes, but it was gross to mock people in the process.

Then, as we reported earlier, Mamdani's administration has now published a searchable database of residences which purports to cover all unoccupied, non-primary residences in the five boroughs worth north of $1 million - which could qualify. The list includes all the names and addresses of the people.

That's potentially flagging unoccupied homes to people, which could be very problematic, particularly with a lot of crazy leftists in New York City. Plus, as my RedState colleague Rusty Weiss observed, it's also doxxing the homes of famous/wealthy people.

Among the people allegedly on the list, according to the NY Post, were director Woody Allen, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, and actress Cynthia Nixon. That's a little bit of irony. Nixon is a supporter of Mamdani's. I wonder if she's going to appreciate her address now being revealed.

However, there also appear to be big problems with this list.

Citywide, The Post counted over 960,000 residences and individuals listed as potentially in line to be hit with Mamdani’s pied-à-terre tax, even though just 31,000 homes were supposed to be subjected to the new levy as he and Hochul initially sold it to the public.

In other words, it looks like they included a lot of people they shouldn't have.

Many of the homes included in the database appeared to be misaligned with a tax aimed at well-heeled residents with multi-million dollar vacation homes, including some two dozen modest homes on Chaffee Avenue in working-class Throggs Neck in the Bronx.

Challenger Drive on Staten Island was another middle-class enclave with dozens of addresses appearing on Mamdani’s list, though it wasn’t clear that they were in fact second homes.

The average home values on Chaffee Avenue and Challenger Drive ranged from mid-$500,000s to the low $800,000s — a far cry from the price tag of your average New York summer residence.

One address was a shopping mall, which obviously didn't qualify.

City Council Minority Leader David Carr (R-Staten Island) chastised Mamdani's actions, noting his own condo was on the list.

It’s a reckless and foolish move, especially considering there are potentially thousands of properties on this list that do not qualify as second homes or whose owners will successfully dispute their inclusion."

🚨 JUST IN: Ugandan Mayor Mamdani is facing outrage for PUBLICLY POSTING a SEARCHABLE database of "wealthy" property owners in NYC

"The city just posted a searchable list of every homeowner on the hook for his new tax. Names, addresses, 30,000 of them." 🤯

"A socialist mayor handing out a rolodex of the rich in a city that just watched a CEO get gunned down on a sidewalk. Sounds like a HIT LIST."

This communist wants more violence, MAKE NO MISTAKE.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani has doubled down on his “Eat the rich” campaign by publishing a list of hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers guilty of . . . owning an apartment.

The city Department of Finance released an “enemies list” of property owners who might be covered by the new non-resident “pied-a-terre” tax — a kind of one-stop class-warfare shopping list for antifa radicals looking for targets.

Mind you, publicizing the list serves no good purpose: The city is mailing all these owners asking them to clarify if they don’t qualify for the new tax, so this publicity isn’t about informing them, it’s about scaring them.

Worse: As the DoF website admits, the list “is not limited to, those properties that may be subject to the surcharge,” meaning most of the list isn’t relevant to the new tax.

Above all, many people on the list are the primary residents of the homes they own, which can be a condo or coop that would sell at $1 million or more — which includes a ton of one-bedroom pads in today’s market.

Too bad for you if your modest residence is now a target for some anarchist disgruntled about his own poor station in life.

Worse yet, the whole thing is slapdash, blatantly generated with no human bothering to examine it.

Consider: Who’s not paying their “fair share” on the $37 million brownstone at 1033 Fifth Ave., across the street from the Metropolitan Museum of Art? Why, the Islamic Republic of Iran, that’s who — and many other tax-exempt diplomatic buildings also made the list.

Why did no one at City Hall stop this amateur-hour idiocy?

Because the Democratic Socialist crew is obsessed with naming and shaming their “class enemies”: As national DSA co-chair Megan Romer explained on Fox News Sunday, “We will win by making conditions so intolerable to the ruling class that they would rather give in to our demands than live with the disturbance we cause.”

They want everyone owning private property to fear their wrath.

Take notice: When somebody puts you on their enemies list, they mean it.

Dr. Anthony Fauci enjoyed a “relaxed” dinner at home with CNN star Jake Tapper and his wife, one week after suggesting Americans “sacrifice” getting together with family and friends at Thanksgiving, according to newly released 2020 diary entries.

Fauci’s diary notes were published on Saturday by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY). The man who spearheaded the U.S. Government’s response to COVID-19 wrote about having multiple dinners with Tapper in 2020, alongside notes on the rising death toll.

He wrote about one of those shared suppers on October 23, 2020.

“Had dinner at my home with Jake and Jennifer Tapper,” Fauci jotted down. “Relaxed, good time.”

Fauci added, “Jake clearly believes that Trump is totally nuts.”

The diary entry came nine days after Fauci said Americans would be better off ditching their Thanksgiving plans.

“You may have to bite the bullet and sacrifice that social gathering, unless you’re pretty certain that the people that you’re dealing with are not infected,” Fauci told CBS News at the time.
