Mysterious object in NASA Mars photo ignites theories of extraterrestrial life on the Red Planet

NASA's Curiosity rover has captured countless strange-looking rocks during its years exploring Mars.
Now, one resurfaced image is fueling extraordinary claims that the Red Planet was once the site of an alien war.
UFO researcher Scott C Waring shared a photo taken by the rover that appears to show what he believes is an unexploded 'alien missile' lying on the Martian surface.
He argued the object is evidence of an ancient conflict that wiped out a once-thriving civilization, claiming space agencies have remained silent because of its potential military significance.
Waring even speculated the mysterious object could represent advanced extraterrestrial weapon technology that governments would rush to obtain if it were ever recovered.
The remarkable claims, however, are not supported by NASA, which has offered no indication that the object is anything other than a naturally occurring rock formation.
Scientists have long noted that Mars is shaped by billions of years of volcanic activity, meteorite impacts and relentless wind erosion, processes capable of sculpting rocks into surprisingly artificial-looking shapes.
Similar discoveries have repeatedly sparked claims of alien artifacts on the Red Planet before later being explained as examples of pareidolia, the human tendency to see familiar objects and patterns where none actually exist.
Still, the peculiar shape has reignited debate online, with believers convinced Curiosity has stumbled across the remnants of an extraterrestrial battlefield while skeptics see little more than another Martian rock.
NASA has also maintained that it has no evidence of extraterrestrial life and has yet to find any signs of current or past life on Mars.
However, Waring estimated the object measures just over eight feet long and speculated it could be an intact piece of extraterrestrial technology.
He claimed such a discovery would be highly sought after by governments hoping to study advanced weapons, while wondering who might reach it first and what purpose it may have served.
Waring offered no evidence to support those claims, and NASA has not identified the object as anything other than part of the Martian landscape.
While the UFO researcher suggested the object is a remnant of an alien missile, others suggested it could be a crashed extraterrestrial ship.
Another Facebook user who shared the image argued that the object appears long and narrow, with what they described as two compartments.
They speculated that one compartment looked empty while the other seemed to contain 'packages,' adding that what appeared to be wings may have broken off in a crash, leading them to conclude it was 'most likely' some type of aircraft.
Another user commented: 'Would be cool if it actually was a crashed ship?'
Earlier this month, Waring shared another mysterious Mars photo he claimed showed a dwelling on the Red Planet.
The discovery was made in a panorama taken by Curiosity last month inside Gale Crater, the 96-mile-wide impact basin that has been the rover's home since landing on Mars in 2012.
Among the dusty landscape, some have pointed to a formation in the distance that they say resembles a structure with a doorway, similar to an early human dwelling.
'What looks like cut boulders is actually clay-type walls and an entrance way made by intelligent beings who needed protection from the elements. We had them on Earth long ago, and they had them on Mars long ago,' Waring said.
NASA has not commented on the latest claims, but the agency previously addressed similar speculation after Curiosity photographed a door-like feature in 2022.
'The mound, on Mount Sharp, has a number of naturally occurring open fractures – including one roughly 12 inches (30 centimeters) tall and 16 inches (40 centimeters) wide, similar in size to a dog door,' NASA said at the time.
'These kinds of open fractures are common in bedrock, both on Earth and on Mars.'
While Waring is sure Curiosity spotted a hidden doorway on the Martian landscape, others believe otherwise.
'Nah, just a rock formation. I definitely think it's possible that entrances could be there, but this just looks like a shadow,' one X user commented on his post.
However, Waring said: 'Chances of intelligent beings creating this structure… 100 percent.'
Curiosity rover is a car-sized, nuclear-powered robot searching for signs of life and learning about the Red Planet's unique environment.

NASA's Roman Space Telescope's Transport from Goddard to Kennedy

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope was assembled and tested at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
Once that work was finished, Roman had to travel to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida for its launch. The transport process was long, delicate, and painstaking.
Inside Goddard’s largest clean room, technicians moved Roman into a specially-built portable clean room called the CHARIOT (Conditioned Housing for Air, Road, Imaging optics assembly, and Observatory Transport).
They lifted Roman into the lower portion, and then put an inner lid over it and covered the protruding antenna dish. Then they lowered an outer cover onto it, with attachments for the air conditioning to keep Roman at a safe temperature.
Once in the CHARIOT, techs pushed Roman out of the clean room and attached an advanced wheel system to allow a semi truck to pull it. The system features independent driving at the back and the ability to raise and lower over or under obstacles.
Starting in the evening of June 12, a team of engineers, police, and utility workers spent 13 hours slowly driving Roman from Goddard to the port of Baltimore.
At 16 feet tall, the CHARIOT couldn’t fit under many highway overpasses, so the carefully planned route snaked its way on secondary roads, through Baltimore city, and around to the port, often traveling only two miles an hour.
At the port, the CHARIOT was loaded into NASA’s special transport barge, called Pegasus. The semi detached and drove back out, and the CHARIOT was carefully chained to the deck.
Over the next eight days, Pegasus was towed by a pair of tugboats from Baltimore down to Port Canaveral. Special new tugboats took over and pulled Pegasus up the Banana River to the Turn Basin at Kennedy.
With Pegasus secured to the dock, opened up, and the CHARIOT unchained from the deck, a semi pulled Roman out and onto dry land. Designed for this kind of transport, the Kennedy roads allowed faster, easier transport to the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility.
Once inside the airlock chamber, technicians removed the driving hardware and moved the CHARIOT on a cushion of pressurized air. They cleaned the CHARIOT, removed the outer lid, and pushed it into the inner clean room where the inner lid could come off.
Roman was lifted out of the CHARIOT and attached to a device that could tilt it vertical. Roman was now ready for the final stages of preparation for launch.

On July 29, America will celebrate the birth of the agency that transformed the impossible into the inevitable. For 68 years, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has led the world in space exploration.
From the Mercury missions to Apollo and the space shuttle program to Artemis, NASA has always represented something larger than rockets and astronauts. It is a reminder that when America leads with courage, innovation and purpose, the world follows.
Today, that leadership is being tested once again.
A new space race is underway, and China has made no secret of its ambitions. Beijing is investing heavily in lunar exploration, advanced satellite networks and space technologies with both civilian and military applications.
The nation that establishes the rules, infrastructure and presence in space will shape the economic and security landscape for decades to come.
The United States cannot afford to watch from the sidelines.
That’s why we are proud to serve on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. Earlier this year, our committee advanced the NASA Reauthorization Act of 2026.
This legislation reaffirms our nation’s commitment to human space exploration and authorizes funding for both Artemis and the moon to Mars program.
It also focuses on building a skilled technical workforce to ensure the next generation is ready to take on the mantle of space exploration.

The moon is critical as a testing ground for Mars and deep-space missions. A sustained presence on the moon could also create opportunities for asteroid mining, providing resources needed for emerging technologies such as quantum computing.

For example, satellites provide critical telecommunications capabilities that allow U.S. forces to communicate securely across the globe in real time.
From GPS technology to space-based sensor systems, satellites are integral to military operations. Protecting our space infrastructure isn’t optional. The space race cannot be neck and neck; the United States must dominate.
History teaches us that American leadership has never been guaranteed. It has been earned through bold investment, scientific excellence and an unwavering belief that tomorrow belongs to those willing to build it.
That same spirit carried Neil Armstrong onto the moon and inspired generations of engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs and service members to push the boundaries of what was possible.
As we approach NASA’s birthday, we should celebrate not only our extraordinary achievements but also our responsibility to lead the next chapter. Space is no longer simply the final frontier.
It is the next frontier for national security, economic growth, technological innovation and American influence.

LIFTOFF: Trump’s Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy Announces Major Move to Streamline Commercial Space Licensing

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is launching a new initiative to streamline commercial space licensing, making it faster and easier for innovators to secure approvals to launch rockets, reenter spacecraft, and operate launch and reentry sites.
The move builds on President Trump's innovative "Enabling Competition in the Commercial Space Industry" Executive Order and advances a decades-old Congressional mandate to simplify and expedite commercial space licensing.
What we did: The FAA's proposed rule would allow the agency to waive unnecessary environmental laws and regulations that are slowing American innovation.
Requirements that are needed to protect public health and safety, property, national security, or U.S. foreign policy interests would not be impacted.
Why it’s important: During the past five years, the FAA authorized more commercial space operations than in the previous three decades — including a record 204 in Fiscal Year 2025.
The agency’s commercial space forecast projects up to 4,288 operations over the next decade, soaring from 214 this year to 507 in 2036.
Despite this progress, applicants face pointless, time-consuming requirements and expenses preparing environmental studies and providing information for overlapping reviews from multiple federal agencies. These duplicative processes create needless delays for near-term launch operations.
“America won the first Space Race, and we can do it again – but only if we get government red tape out of the way. That's why President Trump has charged USDOT with unlocking the final frontier and re-establishing the United States' dominance in space,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy. “Thanks to President Trump's leadership, we are supercharging commercial space activity, slashing costs, and strengthening America’s competitive edge in this vital field.”
“Commercial space activity is surging, and we must do everything safely possible to support this vital sector,” said FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford.
“The bottom line is clear: we will not keep pace with this rapid growth unless we streamline, modernize, and strengthen our regulatory approach.”

The FAA’s proposed rule would allow the agency to waive requirements from 13 federal laws for certain commercial space licenses and permits.
These include NEPA, the Endangered Species Act, parts of the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, and several other environmental and natural resource laws.
The proposed rule notes that the U.S. Supreme Court in a unanimous 2025 ruling wrote that the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) “has transformed from a modest procedural requirement into a blunt and haphazard tool employed by project opponents … (who may not always be entirely motivated by concern for the environment) to try to stop or at least slow down new infrastructure and construction projects.”
The proposed rule includes a 30-day public comment period. The FAA will thoroughly review all relevant comments before issuing a final rule.

NROL-95 Mission

SpaceX is targeting Thursday, July 30 for a Falcon 9 launch of the NROL-95 mission from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
Liftoff is targeted for 3:09 a.m. ET, with a backup opportunity available on Friday, July 31 at 2:55 a.m. ET if needed.
A live webcast of the NROL-95 mission will begin about 10 minutes prior to liftoff, which you can watch here and on X @SpaceX.
This will be the seventh flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched KF-01, IMAP, NROL-77, GPS III-9, CRS-34, and one Starlink mission.
Following stage separation, the first stage will land on Landing Zone 2 (LZ-2) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

China launches data relay satellite for crewed space missions

China launched a data relay satellite on Wednesday evening to support its crewed space program and other spacecraft operations, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The Tianlian III-01 satellite was launched at 7:50 pm from the Wenchang Space Launch Center in the southern island province of Hainan aboard a modified Long March 7 carrier rocket, according to Xinhua.
The satellite successfully entered its planned orbit, marking the complete success of the launch mission, Xinhua said.
The Tianlian III-01 satellite will primarily provide data relay, tracking and control services for crewed spacecraft, including spacecraft, space laboratories and the Chinese space station.
It will also provide data relay, tracking and control support for resource satellites operating in medium and low Earth orbits.
The launch marked the 659th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series.

Trump shares no details of Zelensky meeting

President Donald Trump hosted Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky in the Oval Office on Tuesday, with US officials sharing no details about what was discussed during the roughly hour-long meeting behind closed doors.
More than nine hours after the talks ended, Trump shared a brief post on Truth Social, saying it had been a “great honor” to meet Zelensky.
“Many things were discussed. The meeting went very well!” he wrote, offering no further details.
The only other official White House comment came in a brief post by press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who said “both meetings were positive and productive,” referring to Trump’s sit-downs with Zelensky and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Meanwhile, Zelensky claimed on X that he and Trump “discussed licenses for Patriot interceptor production and several other ideas that could help.” He added that they “also spoke about diplomacy” and said he was “grateful to the United States for its firm support.”
Later in the day, Trump, Zelensky and Netanyahu attended a memorial service in Washington for the late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a longtime Russia hawk and one of Ukraine’s strongest supporters in the US Congress, who met Zelensky in Kiev shortly before his death.
Trump and Zelensky last met earlier this month on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Türkiye, where they discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses and potential peace talks.
After the meeting, Trump said Washington would grant Kiev a license to produce Patriot interceptor missiles, while adding that the US would not supply the weapons directly and that European NATO members should finance military aid to Ukraine.
Since returning to office, Trump has repeatedly criticized Zelensky, at one point calling him a “dictator without elections” and “ungrateful” for American support, while arguing that Ukraine may ultimately have to cede territory to Russia to end the conflict. Zelensky, however, has continued to press Washington for more military assistance.
The Trump administration has also warned Kiev against targeting non-Russian vessels after a Chevron-chartered tanker carrying Kazakh oil was struck by a Ukrainian drone near the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk last week.
Kiev has relied heavily on Western weapons supplies throughout the conflict, while repeatedly urging its backers to provide additional Patriot systems and interceptor missiles amid continued Russian strikes on military-related targets across Ukraine.
Moscow says the strikes are being carried out in response to terrorist attacks by Kiev against energy infrastructure and civilians inside Russia.
The meeting comes after Kiev launched another major overnight drone attack on Moscow, sending more than 390 UAVs toward the Russian capital. While no casualties have been reported, the regional authorities said several residential buildings were damaged.
Reuters reported last week, citing a Ukrainian source, that Washington and Kiev had been discussing a proposed air ceasefire to present to Moscow as part of a renewed push to revive stalled peace talks.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, however, cast doubt on whether the report is true, adding that Moscow had received no concrete proposal.
Russia has warned that continued deliveries of Western arms make NATO members de facto participants in the conflict and risk triggering an all-out war.

US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have agreed to make their first official visit to Kyiv as part of renewed efforts to negotiate an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine, the Financial Times reported on July 29.
This follows high-level talks between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office on July 28. Zelenskyy visited the United States to attend the funeral of the late Senator Lindsey Graham and conduct strategic discussions at the White House.
The upcoming diplomatic mission underscores a significant turnaround in bilateral relations between Washington and Kyiv. Ukrainian officials privately attribute the shift to months of adviser-level engagement aimed at reframing the war for the White House.
This effort gradually reversed earlier friction, with Ukrainian aides tracing the initial thaw back to a brief encounter between the two leaders at Pope Francis’s funeral in St. Peter’s Basilica on April 26 last year, following a contentious Oval Office meeting earlier in February 2025, the Financial Times reported.

He argued that nations needed to agree, in advance, on a unified protocol for how Earth would respond to such an encounter. It was a bold, almost audacious request.
But it fit the man: a scientist who has spent years insisting that alien technology may already be parked in our own solar system.

But taken together, and set against the backdrop of a man who once tried to get the United Nations to formalize first-contact diplomacy, the recent run of essays lands differently.
Not one of them offers anything resembling new information about the actual UAP phenomena his council was created to investigate. Zero disclosure. Zero new data. Just hypotheticals.
That contrast is fueling a question that's becoming harder to avoid: is this the same rigorous mind who once petitioned world governments to prepare for contact with the unknown — or has the job of leading a real federal UAP inquiry pulled Loeb toward performance over substance?
Supporters would argue the council's real work happens behind closed doors, and that Loeb's public writing has never been the full picture of his research.
Skeptics — including some inside the scientific community who questioned his appointment from day one — see it as more evidence that his approach favors headlines over hard answers.

Rumored Elizondo UAP role part of ‘controlled narrative’: researcher

(NewsNation) — UAP activist Luis Elizondo’s potential new role as an advisor on UAP disclosure is part of an effort to execute a controlled narrative of limited disclosure, a UFO activist told NewsNation’s Ross Coulthart.
There is speculation that Elizondo is being positioned for a role with the National Security Council or as an advisor to the White House as part of ongoing efforts at UAP disclosure, but Elizondo has not confirmed the rumors.
Anonymous researcher Sam, known online as UAPGerb, said that Elizondo and other figureheads are actually part of a controlled narrative to protect the deep state.
“This is detrimental to the disclosure process; this is extremely concerning,” Sam said.
He pointed to recent Pentagon releases of files, which have not yet included any information that would definitively prove the existence of non-human intelligence or the existence of secret UAP programs to retrieve and reverse-engineer non-human technology.
Interest in UFOs spiked after whistleblower David Grusch came forward with allegations that the Pentagon has been operating a secret crash retrieval program. It’s whistleblowers like Grusch who are forcing transparency, Sam said.
There has been speculation that the government is leading toward a revelation that non-human intelligence exists while denying evidence of a crash retrieval program.
Sam said Elizondo is part of those efforts, noting that Grusch’s Congressional testimony blew up the controlled narrative that avoids discussion of crash retrievals.
“Prior to 2023, Lue Elizondo essentially did not discuss crash retrievals or Roswell,” Sams aid.
Elizondo has since discussed Roswell, but Sam noted that in addition to being a cultural phenomenon, Roswell is far enough in the past to be less of a concern.

The pyramids at Giza remain one of ancient Egypt’s most enduring historical legacies, and questions have long persisted about the exact methods used in their construction, as well as the origins of those architectural practices.
However, new evidence suggests that more than 5,000 years ago, ancient Egyptian builders had already begun experimenting with architectural techniques that foreshadowed those seen in the monumental constructions at Giza, which would eventually become the country’s most lasting and recognizable features.
According to archaeologists working at Jabal al-Tayr in Egypt’s Minya Governorate, a pair of Early Dynastic tombs display several “sophisticated” construction features at a site where burials span several periods of ancient Egyptian history.
An Ancient Burial Site is Revealed
Excavations undertaken by an Egyptian mission from the Supreme Council of Antiquities have revealed that the site, located on the Nile’s eastern bank, once served as a burial ground for several thousand years, from Egypt’s Predynastic period through the Late Period.
Some of the most significant discoveries at the site include the two tombs, whose architecture resembles the tomb of King Den at Abydos, who ruled during the country’s First Dynasty.
Within the first tomb, archaeologists uncovered intriguing evidence of early engineering, including walls that were built thicker at their bases and gradually became thinner near the top.
Such designs appear to have offered enhanced structural stability, and similar principles would go on to be featured on a far greater scale in Egypt’s step pyramids and later in the larger “true” pyramids that followed.
Surviving Stone Theft for Millennia
Unfortunately, some parts of the tomb sustained significant damage after its stone was quarried for reuse—a common practice throughout Egypt’s history—although the researchers say several important construction details managed to survive.
Among these, the team identified oxide lines on stone surfaces, which they linked to ancient cutting and extraction techniques, along with large wooden supports incorporated into the structure.
Some of these supports extended the full length of the tomb’s walls, while in other cases, they reinforced only certain localized sections.
Within the second tomb, which was found immediately to the south, a very similar architectural plan was followed.
Unlike the first tomb, there was little evidence of stone robbing here, leaving behind a structure in a very good state of preservation that allows archaeologists to examine its original construction in greater detail.
Although much of what archaeologists have located at the site is relevant to the Early Dynastic period, excavators also uncovered part of a Predynastic cemetery, where the remains of individuals were found under unusual conditions.
These bodies appeared to have been buried in crouched positions and were originally wrapped in mats made from plant material.
Alongside the human remains, pottery vessels featuring blackened tops were dated to the Naqada II and Naqada III periods, which predated Egypt’s political unification.
Still other graves found nearby dated to the Late Period and included individual and collective burials, some containing the surviving remains of ancient wooden coffins.
The Changing Faces of Egypt’s Ancient Funerary Landscape
The discoveries offer archaeologists a vivid look at ancient Egyptian funerary practices and how they changed over time across the various phases of Egyptian civilization represented at the site, as well as the architectural techniques employed during these periods.
Arguably, among the most intriguing discoveries associated with the site are the structures themselves, whose similarities to royal architecture seen at locations like Abydos imply that sophisticated construction ideas had already begun to circulate between various regions of Egypt during some of the Egyptian state’s most formative centuries.
As excavations at Jabal al-Tayr continue, archaeologists may be able to glean further clues about the architectural experimentation that occurred there and how it might have helped shape the changing appearance of Egypt during the age of the pyramids.
Ultimately, such discoveries may bring new light to longstanding questions about the origins of the monumental architecture at Giza—designs which have shown their resilience by enduring now for several millennia.

Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Aaron Lukas has stated that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) will soon issue guidance to ensure that the intelligence community implements the president’s directive.
My office has requested to see the directive to understand how this process will work and to assist in facilitating whistleblowers’ participation in a manner and at a pace that is comfortable for them.
Independent congressional oversight is a critical part of UAP disclosure, and we are uncertain whether the abrogation of NDAs will apply to testimony received by Congress before referral to the executive branch.
