Great point here.
If this hearing was truly about disclosure to the American people, the fact that Fauci chose not to answer (and elaborate or filibuster), he allowed even more time for the questions to tell the story.
Also, although taking the 5th should not be an implication of guilt in itself, for the normally talkative Fauci, the uncharacteristic silence works against him in the eyes of the public.
There are no excuses or distortions of truth for the media to amplify. They are left with nothing but refusal to cooperate despite a blanket pardon.
