You entered the work force in 2000 you make X
Then you worked from 2000 getting raises, you work your ass off, by the time you get to catch up to your pay goal you've worked hard for10 years working your ass off, the fed and the banks have moved the goal posts again.
Now the standard of living has gone up and your wage continues to be average so your making the average, when you were on a trajectory to make more money than the average.
The real factor is when you enter the work force.
Somebody who enters the work force say 2020 will make just as much as the guy who worked his ass off those 10 years only to have them move the financial goal posts again.
