Revered celebrity photographer Arnaldo Magnani dies
Revered celebrity photographer Arnaldo Magnani — whose passion and professionalism landed him countless exclusive shots over the years, many of which ran in The Post — has died at the age of 80.
The Italian-born Magnani immigrated to the United States in the 1960s and worked as a waiter, but his first love was always photography.
In the ’70s, he made the art his livelihood, embarking on a decades-long career that included snaps of some of Hollywood’s biggest names: Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio and Meryl Streep, to name just a few.
His gentlemanly demeanor and playful personality helped him forge rapports with both celebrities and the owners of the restaurants where they broke bread, including Le Cirque and Nello.
“His passion was extremely contagious . . . he was a gentleman,” said a close friend and fellow lensman.
“He was an absolute character,” said Post managing photo editor David Boyle. “He gave us hundreds of exclusives.”
