SpaceX will make some history this month, if all goes according to plan.
The company aims to launch the 14th test flight of its Starship megarocket before August is out, Elon Musk said today (Aug. 4) during SpaceX's first-ever quarterly earnings call.
Starship will deploy viable payloads into orbit on Flight 14, something it has never done before — and there will be other unprecedented action as well.
"I'd say things look very good, and that's why we, assuming we receive regulatory approval to do so, will attempt to catch the Ship with the tower on the next flight, which is tentatively scheduled for the end of this month," Musk said during today's call.
"Ship" is the 171-foot-tall (52 meters) upper stage of Starship, which also features a giant first-stage booster called Super Heavy.
Both of these elements are designed to be fully and rapidly reusable — a breakthrough that, combined with Starship's immense power, will revolutionize spaceflight, according to SpaceX.
And "things look very good" is a reference to Starship Flight 13, which lifted off on July 24. Musk was talking specifically about Ship's performance on that suborbital jaunt, which ended with the upper stage's soft splashdown in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Western Australia.
Ship's heat shield survived the harrowing downward trip through Earth's atmosphere in great shape on Flight 13, according to SpaceX (as did the entire vehicle, which is still in one piece to this day).
And that gives SpaceX confidence to plan for a tower catch on Flight 14 — a crucial component of Starship's future reusability.
"I don't want to jinx it or anything, but I think I'd consider the heat shield problem solved at this point," Musk said.
Starship's two launch towers at its Starbase site in South Texas feature large "chopstick" arms, which stack Super Heavy and Ship atop the pad — and can also catch the vehicles when they come back to Earth at the end of their missions.
SpaceX has already executed a tower catch with Super Heavy on three Starship test flights, but it has not yet tried to do so with Ship. So Flight 14 could be momentous, provided SpaceX gets permission from regulators to make an attempt.

Flight 14 will also carry up a batch of SpaceX's V3 Starlink satellites, a larger and more capable version of the spacecraft that currently populate the company's broadband megaconstellation.
Flight 13 toted 20 Starlink V3s, but Ship deployed them into suborbital space; the satellites will be placed into an operational orbit on the upcoming mission, if all goes to plan, Musk said.
SpaceX goes public
Musk founded SpaceX as a private company back in March 2002. It stayed that way until this past June 12, when SpaceX went public via the richest IPO in history, which raised $86 billion and valued the company at $1.77 trillion.
SpaceX now has to provide earnings reports every quarter, starting with Q2 of this year. And these first publicized numbers show considerable improvement compared to a year ago, according to the company.
The newly released report states that total revenue in the March-June time period was up 92% over the same stretch in 2025 — $7.8 billion versus $4.1 billion. And SpaceX had a net loss during this span of $541 million, down from a net loss of $1.0 billion in Q2 2025.
More than half of this quarter's revenue — about $4.3 billion — came via the company's Starlink satellite-internet megaconstellation. That number crystallizes a truth that has been apparent for a while now — SpaceX is not just a launch company anymore.
Rockets will bring in a smaller and smaller share of SpaceX revenue over the coming years, if all goes according to plan. Launch will continue ceding this financial ground to Starlink, but also, increasingly, to SpaceX's artificial intelligence (AI) operations.
Indeed, SpaceX sees itself becoming more and more of an AI outfit over time.
A few months ago, the company revealed that, over the long haul, it's targeting a "total addressable market" of $28.5 trillion per year, nearly $23 trillion of which will be in the field of "enterprise AI applications."
That's quite an ambitious goal; in 2025, the gross domestic product of the entire United States was a little less than $31 trillion.
Speaking of ambitious: SpaceX plans to make a lot of this money via an orbiting constellation of one million AI data centers, which together will comprise a constellation known as Starmind. (Yes, SpaceX has a thing for "Star" names.)
SpaceX expects to start launching operational Starmind spacecraft in 2027, Musk said during today's call. It will take a lot of Starship launches to get the network up and running, but he doesn't see that as a bottleneck.
"We expect the cadence of flights to be increasing rapidly, and, probably a year from now, we will be doing at least one flight a day, possibly more," Musk said.

Russia strikes military-linked logistics hubs in Kiev – MOD

The attacks hit several facilities involved in handling dual-use and drone components, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has said
Russia has carried out overnight strikes on transport and logistics facilities in Kiev and the surrounding region, hitting sites used to handle items and drone components meant for the Ukrainian army, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has said.
In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry said that among the targets attacked by high-precision long-range weapons was the MLP-Chaika logistics center, which stored and distributed components for long- and medium-range drones.
Also hit was Nova Poshta’s innovation terminal and logistics center, described by the ministry as one of the “largest automated sorting complexes” handling dual-use goods, including drone parts, robotic systems, and electronic-warfare equipment.
The ministry said it also struck the Trans-Logistic transport hub producing drones of various types and storing military supplies for Ukrainian forces, along with the Epicentr logistics center, a large automated warehouse also processing and storing dual-use goods and drone components for the Ukrainian military.
In the wider Kiev region, the strikes hit the Brovary Terminal facility, the Raben Ukraine logistics hub, and another Nova Poshta sorting complex, all involved in supplying drone parts, including foreign-made ones.
In addition, the attacks hit three vessels off Odessa that were transporting military cargo, according to the statement.
Videos circulating on social media show multiple plumes of smoke rising over Kiev and its suburbs, while the authorities released photographs showing several warehouses reduced to rubble.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service claimed 14 people were killed and 27 wounded in the overnight attack.
The service said crews were working at seven sites across the region, with large fires breaking out at warehouses in the city of Brovary and the villages of Velikaya Dymerka, Kvitnevo, and Peremoga.
Ukraine’s air force said the barrage involved four Tsirkon/Oniks anti-ship missiles, 24 Iskander-M and S-400 ballistic missiles, and 115 strike and decoy drones.
It claimed to have shot down or suppressed 98 drones but did not report intercepting any of the missiles, which Ukraine has been able to tackle only by using high-grade Western-supplied interceptors.
Epicentr confirmed that one of its logistics centers was hit and that a missile also struck a ceramic production plant, with all of its kilns destroyed.
It added that it has halted production there and plans to temporarily shift output to two facilities abroad while preparing to launch another line in Ukraine.
It estimated that rebuilding the production line would take up to two years, with the total damage yet to be determined.
The barrage came two days after a Ukrainian drone attack on the Black Sea resort of Gelendzhik, southern Russia, killed at least eight people, including four children, and wounded dozens of others.
It also follows several weeks of deadly Ukrainian strikes on warehouses operated by Russian online retailer Wildberries, which Kiev claims is involved in handling dual-use items.
Moscow has denied Wildberries is involved in supporting the Russian military.

Ukrainian Drone Barrage Sets Wildberries Sortation Center in Tula Region Ablaze

Ukrainian drones struck a Wildberries sortation center in the Tula region, the online retailer and local officials said Wednesday morning, with at least one person injured in the attack.
Tula region Governor Dmitry Milyayev said more than 100 drones were intercepted in the skies above his region amid an overnight barrage. He said a fire broke out at the Wildberries facility and that emergency crews were responding to the site.
In a press release, Wildberries confirmed the attack on its sortation center in the Tula region. The company said its employees were evacuated from the facility and that shipments would be redirected to other locations.
Images shared on social media showed a large fire and column of smoke rising above what was said to be the Wildberries sortation center in the Tula region. NASA satellite imagery showed a plume of black smoke above the region.
Russia's Defense Ministry said it intercepted 475 Ukrainian drones across Russia and annexed Crimea between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Ukraine has attacked almost two dozen Wildberries logistics centers since mid-July, accusing the company of supplying the Russian military with drone parts and other equipment.
The strikes have wiped out a significant portion of the e-commerce giant's storage capacity and cost third-party merchants hundreds of billions of rubles, according to Forbes Russia.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, Russian strikes near Kyiv killed at least 17 people and injured more than two dozen others, emergency officials said Wednesday. Warehouses and retail logistics centers were also targeted in the overnight attacks.

Explosive Drone Found After Plane Collides With Unidentified Flying Object

A German airport suspended flights after a staff member discovered a drone equipped with an explosive device near the runway, before a cargo plane was rerouted after colliding with a second unidentified flying object early Wednesday, police said.
A bomb disposal robot was deployed at the Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany to examine the improvised explosive device before the detonator was removed, the Saxony Police said.
The cargo plane appeared to have minor damage after it was rerouted to Hannover Airport, police said, adding that there was no danger to the safety of passengers or airport staff and that no passenger flights were rerouted or suspended.
The investigation continues under the Central Office for Extremism Saxony, the Dresden Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Saxony State Criminal Police Office and the Police Terrorism and Extremism Prevention Center, as Saxony Police requested that any witnesses come forward.
“I have complete confidence in the work of the responsible investigative authorities and thank all those involved who brought the situation under control and helped ensure that flight operations could resume,” State Minister of Justice Prof. Constanze Geiert said in a Wednesday afternoon statement.
“Leipzig Airport is part of our critical infrastructure. Attacks on this infrastructure must be prosecuted with the full force and severity of the law enforcement authorities.”
Flights on one runway resumed at 1:55 a.m., an earlier statement said, while the latter statement said passenger air traffic was not affected.
Germany has been responding to unauthorized drone activity over the past few months after several incidents involving drones took place near airports, military sites and other sensitive infrastructure, CNN reported.
Police have also warned that Russian agents could be involved because the airport is often used to transport logistics from Germany and its NATO allies to Ukraine and serves as a base for Antonov Airlines, Ukraine’s largest cargo airline, the BBC reported.
The airport is also a cargo hub for Europe and is one of the few German airports with round-the-clock cargo operations, CNN reported.

Astronomers at Ukraine's Main Astronomical Observatory have ignited a global scientific firestorm by claiming to have captured compelling photographic evidence of massive unidentified flying objects near the moon, raising the unverified prospect of a hidden UFO lunar base.
Utilising specialised high-speed cameras during observation sessions in Vinarivka village in 2025, researchers documented over 20 anomalies, including colossal disc-shaped craft measuring up to 25 miles across, which they argue could point to a technologically advanced civilisation operating just beyond Earth.
This explosive study challenges the traditional scientific consensus by proposing that these documented formations operate from a hidden lunar base, capable of reaching Earth's atmosphere within minutes.
While conventional space agencies maintain that no verified extraterrestrial structures exist, this provocative research pushes the boundaries of modern astrobiology, forcing experts worldwide to re-evaluate near-Earth space phenomena and the possibility of advanced nonhuman civilisations monitoring our planet.
The new study also challenges that established scientific consensus by suggesting these documented lunar objects are non-human craft capable of reaching Earth within 20 minutes to appear in our atmosphere.
Investigating the Lunar Base Theory and Atmospheric UFOs
The researchers recorded the primary cluster of more than 20 unidentified objects during two distinct observation periods on 7 September 2025, beginning at 7.05pm and 7.27pm ET.
The sightings were captured using a telescope equipped with a high-speed camera in Vinarivka, a village in Ukraine.
By snapping 20 images every second, the specialised equipment allowed scientists to track fast-moving shapes that would otherwise be nearly impossible to detect with conventional astronomy tools.
The UFOs were exceptionally faint, with some appearing as nothing more than a two-by-two-pixel speck against the lunar backdrop.
The team argued that these objects were not moving randomly. In their findings, which have yet to undergo formal scientific peer review, they divided the anomalies into two distinct categories.

The first group, labelled 'atmospheric' objects, appeared to remain locked in place while moving in synchronisation with the moon. This specific behaviour suggests they were somehow anchored near the lunar surface.
These stationary objects also emitted rapid flashes lasting between one-tenth and half a second. Their brightness rose and fell in repeating patterns that the research team described as a structured pulsing process.
The study highlighted that two objects believed to be hundreds of miles apart appeared to flash in unison.
The researchers noted this link was statistically significant, though they conceded the finding does not prove the objects were communicating or controlled by intelligent beings.
'UFOs are observed on Earth and in near-Earth space. We believe that the moon serves as a base for UFOs,' the team shared in the study.
Tracking 25-Mile UFO Craft Across the Moon
The team then used the amount of light reflected by the anomalies to estimate their potential size, an exercise heavily dependent on unknown variables. Even assuming the objects reflected 100 percent of the sunlight hitting them, they would measure approximately 1,440 feet across.
If their surfaces reflected light in the exact same manner as the moon, they could span more than one mile wide.
The second category of anomalies measured significantly larger in scale. These 'continental' UFOs appeared to race directly across the lunar surface. One reportedly travelled nearly 14 miles at a speed of 4.1 miles per second.
Two others appeared to be massive discs measuring approximately 16 miles and 25 miles across, making the smaller object slightly longer than the length of Manhattan.
The brightness of these large shapes rose and fell at repeating frequencies, a detail the team isolated from atmospheric interference and telescope-tracking errors using specialised filtering software.
A separate observation on August 16, 2025, at 2.52am ET revealed an entirely different set of anomalies. Several enormous ring-shaped objects appeared against the daytime sky, barely visible until scientists enhanced the footage with false colours.
The team claimed these dark rings did not emit light but instead absorbed nearly all the radiation striking them. They appeared to complete a full rotation every three minutes and were estimated to measure roughly 22 miles across while travelling at 6.8 miles per second.
Based on the massive size and rapid rotation of the rings, the researchers calculated they could generate a centrifugal force more than twice as powerful as the gravity on Earth. This calculation raises the unverified possibility that the craft were producing their own artificial gravity.
However, these remarkable conclusions rest entirely on the assumption that the faint shapes were genuine physical objects in lunar orbit rather than atmospheric distortions, camera artefacts, or routine errors introduced during image processing.
The scientists admitted they do not know what the objects are made of or how reflective they actually are, leaving their true size and physical nature uncertain.

UFO research benefactor Robert Bigelow says he encouraged President Trump toward alien disclosure

If you had an hour or so to spend with the president, what would you say to him? Las Vegas aerospace tycoon Robert Bigelow had a long list of subjects in mind, but the one at the top was UFO disclosure.
Bigelow, a longtime supporter of President Donald Trump, recently met in the Oval Office and advised the Commander in Chief what he might want to say to the nation.
“I was emphasizing that the disclosure process, starting with confirmation, is a big deal. That, you know, it really is important for somebody like the President of the United States to say, ‘yeah, they’re real, they’re here.
And eliminate all the other nonsense, all the noise that’s been going on for 80 years,” Bigelow said.
Bigelow has spent more than 40 years and tens of millions of dollars digging into UFOs and possible non-human intelligence interacting with humanity.
He said he thinks the time has come for some sort of formal disclosure and that Trump is the guy to do it. Coincidentally or not, in the five months since their White House meeting, the government has started releasing piles of UFO-related information.
Bigelow says a presidential aide cleared off the Resolute Desk, Bigelow plopped down seven reports on seven subjects, and jumped right into UFO disclosure.
“Basically, I focused on him and how to prepare himself if he’s not already prepared,” Bigelow said.
Bigelow declined to repeat anything the president said in response, not even gestures or facial expressions.
The report he wrote included recaps about notable, well-documented incidents and cases along with specific comments that could be shared with the public, including a suggestion that it be delivered in one of the quick exchanges the president has with reporters aboard Air Force One.
“This, this is what I want you to say, Mr. President: ‘A non-human, intelligent presence has been on Earth for a very long time, using spacecraft and with performances completely beyond our capabilities and our human physics.’
And that’s it, to say nothing else. That’s it, that’s all. Because what this is, is disclosure. And it’s actually confirmation,” he said.
A primary angle in Bigelow’s proposal was a preemptive pardon, amnesty for the private contractors who’ve helped the government hide the truth for 80 years.
Bigelow said he has direct knowledge of aerospace companies that have stashed and analyzed materials and crafts of unknown origin. Their expertise will be vital in educating and reassuring the public, he said.
“If it’s handled right, it can be done successfully,” Bigelow said.
As to what he would do if he were in the president’s shoes? Bigelow said he’d share that there had been crashes, bodies discovered and reverse engineering programs.
“The rest of the world already knows that. The people that count in Russia and China already know,” he said.
In the months since their February meeting, the White House has authorized an ongoing release of UFO files and videos, some of which were already in the public arena, with promises of more releases in the months ahead.
Bigelow isn’t the only Trump-whisperer interested in the subject. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was one of the most vocal members of Congress urging UFO transparency back when he was a senator. Donald Trump Jr. has raised the subject with his dad.
Vice President JD Vance, who said he’s fascinated too but thinks UFOs might be demons.
Bigelow won’t say whether he made a dent in Trump’s opinion about UFOs and extraterrestrials.
The president’s previous comments have been largely noncommittal, although he has authorized the release of government files. The strongest part of the pitch might have been Bigelow’s suggestion that UFO disclosure would cement Trump’s place in history.
“The world goes so fast. But the president that took on the challenge of disclosure and of confirmation and actually built a satisfactory conclusion of a relationship between human beings and that subject is going to go down in history as having really accomplished something,” Bigelow said.

There is speculation circulating the community that Dr. Steven Greer lied about briefing President Trump on the phenomena, since well-known aerospace Billionaire Robert Bigelow briefed him, as reported by George Knapp, below.
To clarify: The President has many advisors, and never just one on any topic or issue. Multiple. Always multiple.
Nothing here proves that @DrStevenGreer did not also advise President Trump on the ufo phenomena and Disclosure.

Kevin Knuth is a Professor of Physics at the University at Albany and the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Entropy.
He is a former NASA research scientist having worked at NASA Ames Research Center in the Intelligent Systems Division designing artificial intelligence algorithms for astrophysical data analysis.
In 2022, Dr. Knuth travelled to the west coast of the U.S. to study phenomena behind leaked NAVY UFO sightings. Since then, he's been at the forefront of scientific studies of UAP.
Kevin's current research interests include the foundations of physics, quantum information, autonomous robotics, the search for and characterization of extrasolar planets, and unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).
He has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has been invited to give over 100 presentations in 18 countries.
He can be seen in Netflix’s Encounters (episode 3) and in National Geographic’s UFOs: Investigating the Unknown (season 2, episode 3).

My First Pitch for the Astros: “Houston, We Have No Problem!”

At 6:50 PM local time on August 3, 2026, I threw my first pitch for the Houston Astros in their amazing stadium, Daikin Park, a few minutes before the start of their home game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

As soon as the national anthems of Canada and the United States ended, I ran to the pitcher’s mound and pitched the baseball straight into the glove of the catcher Zach Dezenzo (originally from Ohio State University), 60 feet and 6 inches away.
The energy for my pitch was powered by half a kilogram of dark chocolate that I consumed during a preceding two-hour podcast — the first episode of its kind — with the brilliant Adam Ross and Josh Brown.
The pitch was my first shot, with no earlier training. I did my best to reach the catcher over the base without a bounce. Gravity was included in my calculated throw.
Gladly, the Astros mascot named `Orbit’ — who looks like a green alien, guided me towards the pitcher’s mound; otherwise, I would have gone by mistake to pitch from second base — which is twice as far from the catcher.
After my pitch, I was asked by a Houston Chronicle reporter: “What does the honor of first pitch mean to you?” I replied as follows:
“Today, I turned from an astrophysicist to an Astros-physicist. In fact, I studied the physics of baseball before the game, as explained here. For instance, spin does not affect the trajectory of baseballs on the Moon, in the absence of air.
When the Astros representative, Kyle McLaughlin, called me first on my cell phone and said: “Hi Avi, this is Kyle from the Astros”, I wondered which group of astrophysicists he represents.
It is now my greatest honor to first pitch in Space City. I will keep this visit etched in my mind and refer to it if I will ever venture into a future space city on the Moon or beyond.
Humanity’s future is among the stars. We will hopefully be inspired to leave the solar system once we detect signs of a visitation by alien technology near Earth. If aliens reach our backyard, we should aim to visit their backyard.
Last month, I was tasked to lead the UAP Science Advisory Council for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office in the Pentagon, the White House, the FBI and the Intelligence Community.
Are we being visited by alien tech? The council will share its findings with the public. The best is yet to come. Stay tuned!”
My schedule for the day was tight. I woke up at 2:30 AM Eastern Time to complete my morning jog before heading to Logan airport in Boston.
Upon arrival at Houston, the rest of the day was planned by Kyle McLaughlin, director of business development for the Astros.
First, I arrived at Adam Ross Custom Clothiers, where lunch was served, offering the best burger I ever ate.
After lunch, Adam Ross measured my body for a new suit made of fine British cloth, which he plans to complete and generously send me within about 6 weeks.
Adam and Josh Brown asked me excellent questions about the latest updates from the UAP Science Advisory Council (https://uapsac.com/) and the three Galileo Project Observatories under my leadership.
The council aims to analyze U.S. government data and to recommend new sensors for the collection of better data on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP).
In parallel, the Galileo Project is triangulating objects in the sky to check if any of them exhibits flight characteristics outside the performance envelope of human-made technologies. The sky is not classified. In fact, the sky’s the limit.

The Houston baseball team is called Astros in honor of Houston being the hub of the U.S. space program in close proximity to NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
Four years ago, I shared a stage with Vanessa Wyche, the Johnson Center director, at the International Women’s Forum in Las Vegas (as described here).
NASA opened its Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston in 1961, a year before I was born, establishing Houston’s identity as `Space City, U.S.A.’
The official name assignment of the Houston Astros coincided with the 1965 move into their earlier home stadium, the Astrodome.
The iconic phrase “Houston, we have a problem”, originated during the Apollo 13 lunar mission on April 13, 1970 when Astronaut John Swigert spoke to NASA’s Space Center in Houston and actually said, “Okay, Houston, we’ve had a problem here,” after a catastrophic oxygen tank explosion.
My personal message to the podcast listeners was: “Houston, we have a solution” for how to figure out if we are not alone.
Over the 65 years since the Houston Space Center was established, the SETI community was waiting for a phone call from a cosmic neighbor in the form of a technological radio signal.
However, over the past decade we started to search for a package in our mailbox, in the form of anomalous interstellar objects or UAP. This new search method might lead to exciting new results in the coming years.
Just before the game, I autographed labels for the company Celebrity Mint, which will be used in mystery packs for autographed coin releases.
It is wonderful to see that science is celebrated. My sincere hope is that my public outreach engagement will inspire young kids to become scientists.
We need the next generation of scientists and engineers to carry the torch of humanity to interstellar space. I supplemented some of the autographed labels with my challenge for humanity: “Go interstellar!”
After the game, I met the famous rapper and entrepreneur Slim Thug at the Catalyst Sky Bar, a very fitting name for our meeting place.
As we looked at the sky together, Slim told me that throughout his life in Space City, he felt like an alien because he thinks differently than other people.

Overall, I loved my time in Houston and will cherish the spirit of the Astros in my future work.
My sincere hope is that encountering siblings in our family of intelligent civilizations will serve as a wake-up call for us to change priorities away from conflicts, cooperate and leave the tiny rock on which we were born towards a grander future among the stars, well beyond Mars.
Following an alien encounter, religious people will realize that God is not a parent to only one child and secular people will realize that there are better role models than terrestrial celebrities.
We will all learn that nature is more imaginative than the human mind. The content delivered by alien tech from another star would be far more inspiring than the content provided by our digital mirrors of artificial intelligence.
Let this be my last pitch, which is not limited to the Astros but is aimed at humanity at large. Here’s hoping for many young catchers of this pitch out there in the audience.
