🤔ASIA JUST CONFIRMED THE MECHANISM.
This wasn’t a normal correction. AI-heavy Asian hedge funds suffered a record July drawdown, cut exposure for eight straight sessions, and recorded their largest five-day de-grossing on record as the KOSPI, Nikkei and major chip stocks collapsed. (Reuters)
That means leveraged funds were forced to shrink both sides of their books:
Sell the crowded AI longs.
Buy back shorts.
Raise collateral.
Transfer distressed assets to stronger hands.
That is not theory anymore that is the liquidation-and-transfer mechanism happening in real time. (Reuters)
Asia may be nearing the end of its first washout, but the larger question is where the de-grossing travels next.
The squeeze mechanism is confirmed. The remaining question is which short books are being closed.
