THE ABSURDITY OF AUSTRALIAN SELF DEFENCE LAWS
Charged for protecting your own home?
A 52 year old New South Wales homeowner, Kylee Robinson, is facing severe kidnapping and assault charges after defending her property from an intruder she found inside her Raymond Terrace shed.
Let’s look at the facts of the case and why this is a massive wake up call for homeowners everywhere.
The Intrusion: Robinson discovered a man unlawfully inside a shed on her property.
The Detainment: She allegedly used a baseball bat to subdue the intruder and chained him by the neck to prevent his escape.
The Recovery: She then forced him to lead her to a nearby homeless camp at Boomerang Park to locate her previously stolen property.
The Fallout: Police intervened, and instead of just locking up the trespasser, they arrested the homeowner and her partner.
Securing a trespasser who has violated your home shouldn't make you the villain. We need a drastic overhaul of self defence laws in this country. If we cannot protect our own land, our own sheds, and our own families, then "ownership" means nothing.
Common sense needs to return to Policing.
This outrageous.
