Two significant (for us) components to the world: The world which exists without our conscious intervention, and the world which exists as a result of our conscious intervention. Properly recognizing the division between each, and how they relate to each other, clarifies many things.
To note: Some people have a penchant for claiming responsibility for things which occur without their involvement, because doing so convinces others to subserviate themselves.
You're held hostage only by your own reluctance to seek opportunity where you reside. Even if you are waiting on others for something, you still have plenty of chances to grow in other directions.
Breaking this habit of subserviating oneself to others in such a way is surly one significant aim of the plan.
You'd kind of expect someone who got rich to understand the dynamic…

There's ultimately only one way things can end up, though you're right to note the uncertainty of timelines.
Just don't fall into the trap of assuming that everyone who holds power is conspiring against the rest. Some do, but the whole trends in the opposite direction for good reason.
No paths are irrelevant to the grand tapestry.
One danger the Internet presents is that it makes it easy to look for answers to one's own problems beyond one's own means.
Learning this lesson will be necessary for us to adapt to the new age.

But I'll leave you with something I posted a few days ago because I wanted to share it again anyways.
To begin, we find that we exist, and from that we find that things which lie outside our sense of self also exist. We then find that many things which lie outside our sense of self will react to actions which we take in predictable manner. We also find that many things within our own sense of self will react to things external to our sense of self in predictable manner. Through these experiences we discover that there is interplay between those things which we consider to be part of ourselves and that which we consider to be external to our self. From these experiences, we become capable of projecting our will within the world through the actions we take.
