9mm vs .45 ACP
Someone I worked with had a brother who was a cop, put 3x 45CP in someone's back and he was still running. Shot placement is everything. I know for myself after years of training I can pull splits with 9mm at 1.5x the speed of .45 ACP. For body armor I'd take an FN 5.7 any day of the week with their high capacity mags, but against flesh and clothing I'll take a 9mm with +P 147gr nasty hollowpoints vs .45 ACP any day due to the higher mag capacity. It's all personal preference, but I like having 15-17 rounds I can immediately scream downrange with deadly precision, vs having 7x bombs lobbing with a worse parabolic arc at a 25-50yd range.
I train for everything between 0-600yds on average. Once again it's all a matter of preference, but statistically I can get far more 9mm on paper at any distance over any time vector than .45 ACP. It's simple math, no ego involved. You can trust your life with whatever you want. Neither a 9mm or .45 has the hydrostatic shock to drop someone unless you hit them in the vitals, therefore not my first preference anyway. A pistol is only something you use to fight your way back to the rifle you never should have dropped. Conceal and carry stats has most kills in 9mm by large margin. All about empirical stats and real world data.
