Woman [Melissa Farris/Melissa Lovewell] Arrested on Suspicion of Vandalizing World War II Memorial in Washington
The Kentucky woman faces up to 10 years in prison. The words ‘Clean hands Dirty $’ were spray-painted on a memorial surface.
Federal authorities arrested a woman suspected of vandalizing the World War II Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro announced Aug. 14.
Melissa Farris, 41, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, was charged with two felony counts of depredation against property of the United States and destruction of a veterans memorial. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
“Defacing the World War II Memorial is a disgusting act and an insult to the Americans who fought and died for our country,” Pirro said in a statement. “We will not tolerate this kind of criminal activism, and we will ensure that anyone who desecrates a veterans’ memorial is held fully accountable.”
The memorial was vandalized on Aug. 13 with the words “Clean hands Dirty $” painted on one of the surfaces, along with paint splatters on the ground. A painted sign was also found in a trash can near the north entrance of the balcony, authorities reported.
Soap was also poured into the fountain, causing suds to spill over the sides.
Farris, also known as Melissa Lovewell on Facebook, posted a video of herself at the memorial and appeared to take responsibility for the vandalism.
She posted several videos after her arrest, saying she was headed to federal court. She indicated she was turning herself in and said her actions were carried out to get help for personal problems. Farris also claimed she lived on the street in a camper.
U.S. Park Police responded to the memorial at about 2 p.m. Aug. 13 after receiving a report of a disorderly person at the site.
A witness told officers they saw a woman spray painting graffiti on parts of the Atlantic Theater Pavilion of the memorial at the eastern end of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
A park ranger arrived and found foam in the fountain area.
Several people gathered around the balcony and watched a woman taking videos of herself before fleeing after the park rangers arrived, according to prosecutors.
Park police recognized Farris as someone they had arrested on Aug. 10 for illegally camping on federal property a few blocks away, according to authorities. She identified herself during that arrest as “Melissa Lovewell.”
During a review of her social media, police found videos of the memorial vandalism, prosecutors said.
The World War II Memorial honors 16 million American service members who served during World War II, and millions more who supported the effort at home. More than 400,000 Americans died during the war.

“The National Trust for Historic Preservation” is a beautiful name, but even their name is fake because when they add the words “in the United States” to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, it makes it sound like a Governmental Agency, which it is not. In fact, the United States refused to continue funding it in 2005 because they strongly disagreed with their mission and objectives. They are very bad for our Country. They stop many projects that are worthy, and hurt many others. In this case, they are trying to stop one that is vital to our National Security, and the Safety of all Presidents of the United States, both current and future, their families, staff, and Cabinet members. They were asked by the United States Military not to bring this suit because of the Top Secret nature of the important facility being built. They were shown detailed plans and specifications of this knitted, unified, and cohesive structure by Top Officers and Leaders in both the Military and Secret Service. But this did not deter them because they suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome, commonly referred to as TDS, as noted by Democrat Senator John Fetterman, of Pennsylvania. The lower section does not work without the upper section and, likewise, the upper section does not work without the lower. It is all one highly integrated unit.
The then President of the National Trust, who brought the case, Carol Quillen, had no background in Historic Preservation, and has been replaced, unanimously, effective immediately. This is similar to her departure from Davidson College, where she was, likewise, dismissed, but the people of our Country are forced to live on with her bad decision, especially that of revealing to everyone, including our enemies throughout the World, the Top Secret Military features of the Building that are already built, and/or under construction, such as the DronePort, which occupies the entire roof.
There is absolutely no argument that a woman walking her dog in the vicinity of the White House has STANDING to stop such a desperately needed National Security structure for the people of the United States of America, as it will provide Presidents, current and future, a secure space to do their jobs, especially when she never saw the Building, because it had not risen, and she had no rendering, or pictures of the Building because they, also, were in the formative stages of production. This woman is not a “walker,” she is an activist, or serial plaintiff, who is involved in much other frivolous litigation throughout the City. In fact, whenever the National Trust files a lawsuit, she seems to be involved. So, she walked at the site of the White House, where there was no Building, and it bothered her, but she also walks in front of all of those other places, where she must also be bothered, and hence, additional court cases? She has no Clearances, or expertise whatsoever, in National Security, Defense, or required protections for the President. She has absolutely no standing to be involved in this case and, in fact, her name is not even mentioned as a plaintiff in the case! It is this kind of gross and flagrant abuse of our Courts that is exactly why Americans are losing faith in our System of Justice. It is so bad for our Country! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Army Temporarily Halts All Apache Training Flights After Fatal Crash in Texas
Army leaders have ordered a nationwide pause as investigators seek the root cause of the Apache maintenance test flight crash near Fort Hood.
The U.S. Army said on Aug. 14 that it had temporarily halted all Apache helicopter training flights following a recent crash in Texas that killed two soldiers.
“Army leaders directed a temporary stand-down of AH64 Apache training flight operations. The stand-down will remain in effect until we have a better understanding of the root cause of the accident,” the Army said in a statement.
Two members of the U.S. military were killed on Aug. 12 after their AH-64E Apache attack helicopter crashed near Fort Hood, Texas. The Army identified them as Chief Warrant Officer 2 Deontre T. Huey and Warrant Officer Seth L. Olmstead.
The U.S. Army Fort Hood Media Center said in a statement on Aug. 14 that the Apache helicopter experienced “a mishap” around 1:40 p.m. on Aug. 12 during a maintenance test flight in Salado, Texas, before crashing near Fort Hood.
The Army extended its condolences to the families and friends of the two pilots, adding that an investigation to determine the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
“We mourn these aviators, and our deepest condolences remain with their families, friends, and unit during this extraordinarily difficult time,” it stated.

Today, our Nation commemorates 91 years since President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the landmark Social Security Act into law. For more than nine decades, this program has stood as a fundamental promise at the heart of American life, guaranteeing that the men and women who built our country, raised our families, and powered the greatest economy on Earth can live out their later years with the security and prosperity they earned.
As President, I will always defend Social Security, protect America’s seniors, and invest in the dedicated workers who form the backbone of our Republic. To that end, I proudly signed the Working Families Tax Cuts Act into law, which eliminated federal taxes on Social Security benefits for millions of seniors—the largest tax break in history for older Americans—empowering them to keep more of what they have earned through a lifetime of work. Within a single year, more than 35 million senior citizens have claimed an average deduction of over $7,500, providing real savings for households all across America during tax season. Today, our Nation celebrates the 81st anniversary of Imperial Japan’s unconditional surrender—the moment American might brought the Second World War to its end in complete and total victory. On this monumental occasion, we pay tribute to the grit and sacrifice of the warriors who defended our homeland and carried the hopes of the free world upon their shoulders.
The road to our victory began in fire at Pearl Harbor, where Imperial Japan’s infamous attack summoned a peaceful Nation to arms. Meeting that assault head-on, the warfighters of the Greatest Generation crossed thousands of miles of open sea, turned the tide of the conflict at Midway, broke the enemy fleet at Leyte Gulf, and seized the fortress islands of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Each of those battles was waged against a fierce and unyielding enemy that tested the strength of American resolve like never before. In the end, the unbreakable will of America’s Armed Forces drove an empire of conquest to its knees, freed millions from its brutal occupation, and left the American Flag flying over a Pacific restored to freedom.
For 4 long years, the American People bore hardship and loss on a scale this country has never known, and they never once wavered. More than 16 million Americans answered the call to serve, and more than 400,000 of them never came home, laying down their lives on distant shores to keep our Nation free.
