NEWS

Right-wing journalist and author Scott Greer faced one of the most fascinating ‘cancellations’ ever…

Not so long ago, if you were a young, male conservative writer with the “wrong” friends and associations or the wrong internet footprint, your career could be vaporized overnight.

And nobody knows that better than journalist and author Scott Greer.

Back in 2017, Scott was climbing the conservative media ladder at a pretty fast pace.He was a deputy editor at the Daily Caller and was appearing on Fox News. Scott was getting a lot of attention for his columns, and he even published a book called “No Campus for White Men,” which was an Amazon bestseller. Scott was clearly going places.

Until he wasn’t.

When the whole Charlottesville hoopla went down, the mainstream media grabbed their shovels and started digging furiously through all things rightwing, and Scott Greer found himself smack dab in the middle of the blast zone.

The first part of the witch-hunt was scrutiny over people he knew, folks he followed online, or was photographed with, or even people he occasionally had beer with. Then, in 2018, the big bomb dropped… old articles Scott wrote under a pseudonym for a website called Radix Journal were uncovered. The biggest problem for Scott was that the site had ties to controversial character Richard Spencer. Once this news got out, the Daily Caller cut ties with him, and the Fox News gigs quickly disappeared.

But according to Scott, his “cancellation” went way deeper than just losing a writing gig or missing out on a Fox blip.

He says it got so bad that the Daily Caller made associating with him such a serious offense that employees could get fired just for hanging out with him.

That’s one hell of a cancellation, right?

And eight years later, Scott’s still here, and he recently sat down with Ann Coulter to tell the whole bizarre story.

Scott walked Ann through his rise, the media feeding frenzy, the Radix Journal writings that blew up his world, and the years afterward when people in conservative media treated him like a leper, as if being in the same zip code with Scott could ruin your life.

But the most interesting part of the story may be what happened next…

Losing a job is one thing. But becoming some “parasite” other people are afraid to be seen with is a whole ‘nother ballgame.

But, as you can see, Scott’s still here. He didn’t disappear.

He kept writing, and he built his own podcast and audience. He continued publishing his work, and over the next eight years, something very inconvenient happened to the people who had declared him canceled…

The entire conservative world changed.

Scott now says that many of the “wrong” political opinions that made him so radioactive back in the day aren’t so shocking anymore. He says guys like Tucker Carlson and Matt Walsh are making some of his old supposedly career-ending stuff look like a cakewalk.

The boundaries shifted. A lot.

Think about how different the conservative world looked in 2018.Most of us were basically being held hostage by “disinformation” squads combing through our articles, handing out strikes, and throttling our social media reach unless we groveled, changed the wording, and fell back in line. It was censorship, butthey called it “fact-checking,” and it created a situation where one “wrong” sentence, association, or opinion could threaten your entire livelihood.

The old establishment was still policing opinions and deciding who was respectable enough to participate and tossing everybody else overboard.

Then Trump, social media, podcasts, independent publishing, X, andan entire insurgent online right kept smashed through those gates.

And speaking of gate-smashing, that brings us to Greer’s new book, Whitepill: The Online Right and the Making of Trump’s America.

The book traces the strange collection of online movements, dissidents, trolls, writers, ideological factions, and political misfits that helped blow apart the old Republican guard during the Trump era. Scott writes from a very personal POV because he was actually part of that movement.

And really, the most fitting part of this entire story is how the guy conservative media once treated like the second-coming of Hitler, is now publishing a history of how the right became the movement we’re in today.

Also, we’ll be publishing our own Revolver review of Whitepill soon, so stay tuned for that!

But in the end, Scott Greer is still writing, talking, and pissing off the same people who tried to cancel him.

It turns out canceling somebody is a lot easier than making them disappear.

Bannon warning: Republicans are f’ing up the fight against Marxist Dems AGAIN…. 1/2

Republicans have been calling Dems “socialists” for so long that the word barely scares anybody anymore. It’s like calling somebody a “racist” these days. Nobody cares anymore. We’re all desensitized.

But now as midterms approach, it’s becoming a problem, because the left has also spent this past decade “sanding down” the rough edges around the word, and now, it sounds like a warm little promise about fairness, free healthcare, cheaper college, and making billionaires pay more taxes.

For a lot of younger voters, that’s basically what the word means now.

The old Cold War sting is long gone, but Republicans don’t realize that.

Meanwhile, the actual movement growing inside the Dem Party has become a helluva lot more radical than the friendly “socialist” branding.

The Democratic Socialists of America proudly say capitalism should be replaced with “democratic socialism,” which is actually Marxism. They’re also calling for “collective ownership” of major parts of the economy, and they describe policies like Medicare for All, defunding the police, and the Green New Deal as part of the big transition to a totally different system.

We think it has Communist fingerprints all over it.

And Steve Bannon thinks Republicans are making a gigantic mistake by continuing to fight this movement with a word the left has already spent years softening and is proudly embracing.

He’s a Muslim Marxist. Please, please, stop calling him a “socialist.” https://t.co/MpscgeNVAk— Ames (@VivaLaAmes11) August 10, 2026

Bannon recently boiled the problem down in his usual straight-up style.

WarRoom:

BANNON: If Republicans run against “socialism” alone, they’re going to get their asses kicked.

Rather, they should be exposing the MARXIST-JIHADIST ALLIANCE TAKING OVER THIS COUNTRY.

The entire Democrat Party is BOUGHT AND PAID FOR BY IT.

— Bannon’s WarRoom (@Bannons_WarRoom) August 12, 2026

Steve’s right, and he’s talking about the language game.

Dems are champs at this game.

They’re so good at taking movements that are radical and softening them up. They’re also good at taking once “forbidden” terms and turning them into cozy mainstream media talking points. All the policies get repackaged in the same way,and ugly political ideas get dressed up in pretty language until voters stop hearing what an older generation heard and understood.

“Socialism” is a perfect example of this.

Recent polling shows that independent voters are receptive to some policies associated with the radical left, including government-provided healthcare and higher taxes on corporations and billionaires. And with the midterms approaching, these Marxist candidates are fighting to expand their influence and gain even more political power….

CBC:

As the U.S. heads toward the midterm elections, a gruelling primary season has further entrenched a rift between the insurgent progressive and centrist wings of the Democratic Party.

At stake is control of Congress this November and, beyond that, the presidency in 2028.

The centrists arguecandidates touting moderate and pragmatic policies is the path to flipping seats from Republican control. While progressives say more uninspiring, establishment candidates will not galvanize a coalition of young people, the working class and diverse voters that could propel the party to victory.

What’s really scary is that these Marxist ideas sound appealing to voters when they’re separated from the ideological roots.

And that’s exactly why simply screaming “SOCIALISM!” for the ten-thousandth time doesn’t explain what’s really going on.

The word has been flattened and softened.

Meanwhile, the movement has gotten fuller and harder.

Steve’s right. Republicans aren’t fighting to win… they’re reaching for the same tired “socialism” playbookthat’s gotten them nowhere. They’re not explaining what is actually at stake: if these radical candidates keep winning, it will be the beginning of a total transformation of the United States.

Yes, the Republican record matters to voters, and so do real solutions to the problems Americans are worried about.

Voters are going to look at what Republicans have done with power, but they’re also going to look at the political movement asking to take that power away from them.

That’s why the old Republican flex of reaching for one dusty word becomes totally worthless.

If the Dem Party were simply offering the same center-left politics it offered twenty years ago, maybe “socialism” would be nothing more than another predictable partisan stunt.

But the party is going through an ideological revolt in real time… the establishment knows it, and the primaries showed it.

And its radical wing is openly talking about replacing fundamental parts of the existing economic system and beyond.

Calling all of that “socialism” and moving on is lazy, and it doesn’t even begin to tell the real story.

Bannon’s warning is really about Republicans recognizing that the political battlefield has changed while too many of them are still using the same tired language they were using twenty years ago.And if they don’t wake up and start calling a spade a spade, we’ll end up with a hammer and sickle on the American flag before they even realize what hit them.

Karma comes for Bill Gates: His daughter could be looking at 20 years in prison…. 1/3

August 13, 2026 (2 days

Bill Gates has spent a helluva lot of his time worrying about what everybody else is doing.

He’s fixated on our health, vaccines, climate, food, and future. And during COVID, the Microsoft billionaire became one of the most recognizable voices in the global pandemic fiasco, even though he’s not a doctor, an elected official, or an expert. He’s a nerd.

Then there was his BFF Jeffrey Epstein.

Gates was called out for being way too cozy with Epstein. So much so, his wife said it was one reason for their divorce. After all the backlash, Bill came out and called his decision to pal around with Epstein a “grave error in judgment.” He was hauled before the House Oversight Committee earlier this year to answer questions about that creepy relationship, and he denied knowing about or participating in Epstein’s crimes… okay, Bill. Granted, he hasn’t been accused of criminal wrongdoing, but not many people in Jeff’s orbit have, so that really doesn’t say much, right?

Meanwhile, like we mentioned, his 27-year marriage to his wife Melinda ended in divorce, with Melinda later making it very clear that Bill’s relationship with Epstein was among the issues that troubled her.

So maybe Bill could’ve spent a little less time worrying about blocking the sun and what the rest of us were doing and a little more time checking in on the home front.

Because now, karma has really come knocking on his front door.

This time, the fallout includes his 23-year-old daughter Phoebe Gates, who is dealing with a major scandal of her own.

Phoebe and her friend Sophia Kianni founded a company called Phia. It’s an AI-powered shopping tool that helps users find better prices and discount codes while earning money through affiliate commissions. The company has raised tens of millions of dollars and attracted a literal parade of uber-rich and celebrity investors.

But Phia is now accused of engaging in a practice called “cookie stuffing.” Yes, it sounds like some sweet thing your grandmother does at Christmastime, but it’s actually way more serious than that… more on that in a moment.

What’s really bad news for Bill and his daughter is that the fraud allegations became a lot uglier and more serious when internal company messages reportedly suggested this might not have been an accidental software hiccup that nobody knew about.

So, what is “cookie stuffing?”

This is when a website or app secretly claims credit for a sale it didn’t actually generate so it can collect the commission.

To try and explain it even better for this story…

Imagine your friend tells you about a great store and sends you there. The store promised your friend a commission for bringing in customers.

You walk up to the cash register to pay, and right at the last second, a random guy sneaks over and slips his referral card into the cashier’s hand.

That move gets him paid for sending you to the store even though he had nothing to do with it.

That’s basically what cookie stuffing can do online.

The New York Post:

Bill and Melinda Gates’s daughter Phoebe has been caught in a major fraud scandal after internal company messages revealed that her startup was knowingly using a deceptive affiliate marketing tactic to claim commissions on sales it did not generate.

The scheme, known as “cookie stuffing,” has previously resulted in federal fraud prosecutions and prison sentences.

Corporate attorney Ariel Givner warns that the conduct is “typically treated as federal wire fraud in US courts.”

Givner confirms that Gates could face a “max penalty of up to 20 years’ prison + fines/restitution.”

The revelations are especially damaging because Gates has repeatedly tried to distance herself from her billionaire father’s wealth and influence, insisting that her company would succeed with “no ties to my privilege or my last name.”

That claim is now colliding with internal records showing that Gates and fellow co-founder Sophia Kianni were aware of the controversial practice for months.

Internal Slack Messages Expose What Was Happening

Gates, 23, co-founded Phia, a browser extension marketed as a “personal shopping assistant” designed to help users find better deals on fashion products.

Ariel Givner, founder and principal attorney at Givner Law, warned in a post on X Tuesday that “cookie stuffing” can come with serious consequences.

Now, before anybody starts fitting Phoebe Gates for an orange jumpsuit, she hasn’t been criminally charged with wire fraud yet. However, if and when she is, 20 years is the max punishment for that crime.

The allegation against Phia is that its software could drop its own tracking information into a shopper’s checkout process even when Phia hadn’t actually generated the sale, allowing Phia to claim a commission that belonged somewhere else.

And that brings us to the part that makes this much harder to brush off as some innocent mistake.

As soon as this became a scandal, Phia said the problem was something it just discovered. But later reporting showed that internal Slack messages showed people inside the company discussing the cookie stuffing months earlier.

https://revolver.news/2026/08/karma-comes-for-bill-gates-his-daughter-could-be-looking-at-20-years-in-prison/

The New York Post:

[…] the Microsoft princess whose dad is worth $108.4 billion, according to Forbes –were aware of features that dropped cookies into the checkout process even when customers did not use Phia, according to people familiar with the matter and internal Slack messages reviewed by Bloomberg.

The illicit cookie stuffing traced back to at least December across sales at several major retailers, including Nike, Gap and Nordstrom, and seemingly made up the bulk of Phia’s revenue, according to the news outlet.

After Phia disabled the features in July, average daily revenue at the companyplummeted from around $80,000 to between $10,000 and $28,000, according to Bloomberg.

In June, cookie stuffing accounted for about 51% of the merchandise value that Phia claimed credit for selling, the report said.

That’s a massive drop in revenue.

Those aren’t “oopsie, our browser extension had a little bug” numbers. Those kind of numbers suggest “cookie stuffing” might’ve been deeply baked into Phia’s business model. And that’s why those internal Slack messages are so damning.

And looking at those numbers, you kinda have to wonder about the pressure that comes with being Bill Gates’s daughter and launching a tech company of your own. She carries one of the biggest names in technology, raised enormous sums from high-profile investors and probably a bunch of her dad’s buddies, and was desperate to prove that Phia could succeed on its own merits.

Here’s Bill’s daughter talking about the privilege and pressure of being Bill’s offspring.

Bill Gates daughter on coming from a privilege background. pic.twitter.com/fVp505trVN— mitsuri (@0xmitsurii) December 2, 2025

We obviously don’t know if that scenario is what happened; we’re just theorizing based on those ghastly numbers. But if the business wasn’t performing at the level everyone expected, and this cookie stuffing feature was helping produce numbers that made the company look way healthier than it was, you can understand why investigators, investors, and everyone else are now lining up to know what happened.

Now, many are also wondering if that special “Gates liberal privilege” will help her weasel out of prison. Or will karma prevail and make her the scapegoat for all her father’s rotten deeds?

State Department Revokes Over 175,000 Visas Of Foreign Nationals Accused Of Crimes

Via American Greatness,

President Donald Trump’s State Department has revoked more than 175,000 visas held by foreign nationals accused of crimes since the start of last year, officials said this week, markingone of the administration’s most sweeping efforts yet to remove dangerous individuals from the country.

State Department officials said themajority of revocations targeted foreign nationals accused of assault, drunk driving, theft, drug crimes, fraud, immigration violations and threats to national security.

A significant share of the revoked visas also involved allegations of child abuse, sexual assault, embezzlement and reckless driving.

Among the cases cited by officials, one foreign national lost his visa after being charged with rape and sexual battery of a victim who is mentally disabled. Another had a visa revoked following charges of felony kidnapping, human trafficking and sexual exploitation of a minor.

Other cases included a foreign national arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest with violence, drunk driving and domestic violence, as well as individuals charged with sodomy of a child, aggravated sexual battery, and possession of more than a dozen counts of child sexual abuse material.

One foreign national was arrested for driving with heroin in the vehicle and a blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit.

A U.S. embassy in North Africa revoked more than 100 visas held by so-called birth tourist parents who officials said traveled to the United States primarily to give birth so their children would obtain American citizenship.

Officials also flagged financial crimes among the revocations, including aforeign national accused of orchestrating a Medicaid scheme that billed more than $5 million for fake servicesunder the guise of a legitimate healthcare business, and another who fabricated company revenue and forged letters to swindle investors and clients while using the false claims to fraudulently obtain a visa.

A foreign national who came to the United States to teach young students was arrested and had his visa revoked after being accused of sexually assaulting one of them.

Several foreign nationals lost their visas after publicly celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk, including one who wrote that “when fascists die, democrats don’t complain” and another who said Kirk “died too late.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also moved against foreign nationals deemed threats to national security, revoking the visa of a Cuban national with ties to the communist regime and of Iranian nationals connected to the Iranian government.

Officials additionally revoked the visa of a Laotian child sex offender previously pardoned by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat, as well as a Kuwaiti national accused of expressing a desire for violence against Trump and referring to Americans as the “enemy.”

New York Mag fires Mamdani-loving writer Ross Barkan for 67 instances of ripping off other authors

Story by Alexandra Steigrad • 18h

New York Magazine has fired lefty political writer Ross Barkan, one of the biggest boosters of Mayor Zohran Mamdaniin NYC journalism, for ripping off other authors’ work a shocking 67 times.

Prior to becoming mayor,Mamdani served as campaign manager for Barkan’s failed state senate campaign, a fact the writer frequently mentioned on his Substack and other platforms.

New York Magazine – which recently came under fire for an anti-Israel cover story – launched a review of Barkan’s work after a Washington Post reporter noticed striking similarities between the lead of one of his stories and the lead Barkan wrote about the same subject in May.

New York Magazine said in a statement toThe Post that it found 67 Barkan columns “that did not include proper attribution of language, information and/or sourcing.”

The publication said it was updating those pieces with proper attribution and is “committed to addressing any other instances that come to light.”

Upon conclusion of the review, we have determined that we will no longer publish his column,” NY Mag added.

“We regret that his work did not live up to our editorial standards, and apologize to the writers whose work was not appropriately attributed.”

After the Washington Post writer first blew the whistle on Barkan, NPR unearthed additional plagiarism allegations, drawing an angry denial from Barkan.

The firing was a humiliating blow to the writer, who regularly heaped praise on Mamdani in pieces in high-brow lefty publications, calling the mayor’s 2025 election victory “seismic” in The Nation.

The ink-stained wretch voiced regret over the rip-offs — a cardinal sin in journalism —though he appeared to portray the firing as a mutual decision by him and New York Magazine.

“We’ve decided to end the column and I send all the best to New York Magazine,” Barkan said in a statement to The Post.

In the course of nearly 250 pieces, there were times I should have been more careful with my citation,” he added. “I’m sorry about these errors and will work to do better, more careful work in the future.”

He also plugged his work for The Nation.

“I am, at a more considered pace, writing a new column for The Nation,” Barkan said.

The Post has asked The Nation if it will continue to employ him in light of the stunning revelations.

His writing career includes bylines in the New York Times, and both fiction and non-fiction books.

He previously said he has a forthcoming book on Mamdani, who was Barkan’s campaign manager in his 2018 run for a Queens seat in the New York State Senate.

Construction Workers Dig Up Mysterious $10M Gold Stash While Working on Sewer System

Police in the city of Dendermonde, Belgium, said the workers discovered a “large quantity of gold” while doing ground works at the construction site

By Gina Kalsi Published on August 14, 2026 08:48AM

NEED TO KNOW

• Construction workers discovered gold thought to be worth over $10 million during groundworks in the city of Dendermonde, Belgium

• Officials have secured the treasure, which included gold bars and coins, and are investigating its origins and legal ownership

• Kobe, an 18-year-old student and construction worker, told Belgian media that they came across the hidden stash ahead of constructing a sewer system

Construction workers in Belgium are celebrating the discovery of gold worth an estimated $10 million during a renovation project.

Police in the city of Dendermonde, around 18 miles north of Brussels, said the workers dug up the “large quantity of gold” during groundworks, per a Facebook post and a report by Belgian outlet VRT.

Officials later came and collected the gold, which was then inventoried and “safely stored as quickly as possible in a high-security vault of the federal government services,” according to the translated statement.

Police Dendermonde posted a series of pictures that included 49 gold bars laid out on a table, a bucket of gold coins and officers appearing to log the findings on a computer.

The haul’s estimated worth is around €9 million, the equivalent of over $10.4 million, according to VRT.

Police warned treasure hunters wanting to enter the construction site that it was “fenced off” and had “several dangerous pits.”

“Moreover, we have already passed by and everything is definitely gone … so certainly do not take irresponsible risks!” they added.

“Hoping that this treasure ends up in the right place and that this unexpected discovery can change the lives of many in a positive way!” the post added.

Kobe, an 18-year-old student and construction worker, told VRT that they came across the treasure while undertaking groundworks to build a sewer system.

“Our first reaction was actually disbelief, amazement. We certainly hadn’t expected to find gold,” he told the outlet.

Kobe said he initially thought they were just €1 coins but soon realized it was a bigger find after seeing a gold nugget.

“After 33 years in the construction industry, this is the first time I’ve experienced anything like this,” site manager Mario told VRT.

The East Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the surprising discovery, per Belgian outlet De Standaard.

“At this moment, it is not known where that gold comes from, nor to whom it legally belongs,” Prosecutor Hanne Ollevier told the outlet.

The building where the treasure was found is owned by the Belgian charity CAW Oost-Vlaanderen, which offers support to people in difficulty.

Ex-Chinese military men accused of espionage activities near US bases in South Korea, police say 1/2

By Gage Goulding and Yoonjung Seo, CNN

Updated: 2:17 AM EDT, Thu August 13, 2026

Two former Chinese military servicemen have been arrested in South Korea in separate cases of apparent espionage, involving alleged attempts to surveil South Korean military operations and US forces stationed in the country, police said.

In one case, a man is accused of intercepting flight communications near an airbase where US fighter jets are based, while in the other, information about military drills between US and South Korean forces was allegedly obtained.

South Korea is a key ally of the US in Asia, and hosts its largest overseas military installation.

Both men have been charged with aiding an enemy state. In response to CNN’s request for comment, China’s Foreign Ministry said it was “not familiar with the situation.”

Military drills information

In 2022, a Korean-Chinese man in his 40s allegedly developed a personal relationship with a Korean woman who worked at Camp Humphreys – located in Pyeongtaek about 40 miles south of Seoul.

The base is home to US Forces Korea and other major commands, making it a key center for US military operations and readiness on the Korean Peninsula.

Korean media reports say the man gave the woman money for military information about the base.

The Gyeonggi Nambu police national security investigation division said the man obtained information about US-South Korea joint military exercises, including Ulchi Freedom Shield, as well as changes in command positions, police said.

Ulchi Freedom Shield is an annual joint military exercise conducted by the United States and South Korea to strengthen their combined defense capabilities and readiness. Authorities have informed the US military about the case. This year’s Ulchi Freedom Shield drills are due to start next week.

Police said the man was a former Chinese military serviceman who had operated a military supply store near Camp Humphreys since 2021. He told police he needed the information for his military equipment business, according to investigators.

The man was charged Monday with aiding an enemy state and violating the Military Base and Installations Protection Act.

The woman involved had been removed from her position by the time investigations began.

Separate airport communications case

The second case involves a Chinese man in his 60s whopolice said also previously served in the Chinese military.

He was arrested on Monday on charges of aiding an enemy state and violating the Communications Secrets Protection Act after allegedly using a software-defined radio, or SDR, to intercept communications near Gunsan Airport in North Jeolla Province, about 110 miles (180 kilometers) south of Seoul.

Gunsan Airport is a joint military and civilian airport nearKunsan Air Base, which is home to the US Air Force’s 8th Fighter Wing.

Police allege theman entered South Korea on a tourist visa several times from January 2024 and stayed about a week for each trip.

He’s accused of checking into a hotel near the airport and using a small SDR to intercept military communications.

During questioning, police said the man told investigators that “listening to military-related communications is my hobby.” Officers are analyzing the content of the intercepted communications to determine whether the information was sent to China.

South Korea’s Defense Ministry and the United States Forces Korea declined to comment.
