Israeli settler attacks terrorize last all-Christian village in West Bank (VIDEO)

RT’s Charlotte Dubenskij reports from Taybeh, where residents face near-daily assaults, property damage, and incursions onto their land

A historic Palestinian village widely described as the last entirely Christian community in the occupied West Bank is facing near-daily Israeli settler attacks and growing restrictions, residents and activists have told RT.

RT’s Charlotte Dubenskij visited the Kaa’bneh family, part of a Palestinian Bedouin community living in Taybeh, east of Ramallah, where she witnessed settlers approaching with sheep and goats at sunset, hurling rocks, and trying to breach the fences. The family says such incursions can happen several times a day.

“They come and vandalize our property, cut through the fencing and bring their sheep onto our land,” Naif Kaa’bneh said. “They break the water tanks and cut off the electricity. If someone is filming, they beat them.”

Kaa’bneh said the harassment has continued for years but intensified recently, blaming Israeli military inaction for allowing settlers to act with near-total impunity. He said troops can take hours to respond to attacks and have never detained those responsible.

“They have never once come and arrested a settler. We tell them, ‘There’s the settler.’ The soldier just turns his head, pretends he hasn’t seen anything, and they leave,” he said.

The attacks come as Taybeh faces growing isolation. Historically known as Ephraim and mentioned in the Gospel of John as a place where Jesus stayed before his final journey to Jerusalem, the village has long drawn Christian pilgrims. But the Israeli military earlier this month declared parts of the area a closed military zone, claiming the measure is intended to curb settler attacks. Residents say it has instead restricted movement while failing to stop the violence, deterring pilgrims, and squeezing an economy heavily reliant on religious tourism.

Meanwhile, locals say new settler outposts are appearing on the hills around Taybeh, fueling fears that residents are being steadily hemmed in and pushed from land they have inhabited for generations.

Israeli minister calls for 30-40 ‘targeted assassinations’ in Gaza per night

Itamar Ben-Gvir has once again called for more military action in the Palestinian enclave

Israel should carry out 30 to 40 “targeted assassinations” in Gaza every night, National Security Minister and prominent war hawk Itamar Ben-Gvir has said, claiming that some in the Palestinian enclave “are not people.”

While a claimed ceasefire is supposed to have been in effect over Gaza, Israel has continued air strikes while negotiations stalled over the issue of disarmament by Hamas and the withdrawal of the IDF from the territory.

In a podcast interview Saturday, Ben-Gvir reiterated his opposition to the reduced level of Israeli military operations under the armistice.

“We need to carry out targeted assassinations in Gaza, taking down 30-40 every night. Not just those who endanger you at that moment,” he said.

There are people there who are not human beings. They don’t need to live, they are not people.

The minister, who oversees Israel’s police, also reiterated his support for Israeli settlement in Gaza, and for pushing Palestinians to leave the territory.

“In my imagination, I see all of Gaza as ours, very consolidated settlements, throughout Gaza,” he said.

Since the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel that triggered the Gaza war, Ben-Gvir has consistently advocated policies well to the right of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, including harsher conditions for Palestinian prisoners and the death penalty for Palestinians convicted of terrorism.

Far-right parties including Ben-Gvir’s Jewish Power and Finance Minster Bezalel Smotrich’s Religious Zionism were instrumental in Netanyahu’s return to power in 2022 and in the formation of his coalition government.

West Jerusalem’s hardline policies and conduct in Gaza have generated widespread international condemnation, while Netanyahu’s push for military action against Iran has further strained perceptions of the Jewish State in the US, its most important ally.

A Pew Research Center survey published in June found that 60% of Americans had an unfavorable view of Israel, compared with 42% in 2022. Across 36 countries surveyed by the pollster, majorities in most expressed unfavorable views of Israel, including 68% in France, 69% in the UK and 73% in Germany.

Massachusetts Mayor Charged With Using COVID Loan For Election Campaign, Debt Payments

A Massachusetts mayor was arrested on Aug. 14 on allegations that he fraudulently secured more than $1.5 million in COVID-19 small-business loans to fund his election campaign and pay personal taxes and mortgages.

Lawrence Mayor Brian DePeña, 61, was charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering, according to a statement by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.

DePeña has been released from custody following his initial appearance in federal court in Boston on Aug. 14, subject to several conditions, including turning over his passport.

According to his indictment, he allegedly applied for Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) for Tenares Tire Services Inc., a tire sales and automotive services business he owned in Lawrence, between 2020 and 2021.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) offered those loans to eligible small businesses that were facing financial difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prosecutors alleged that DePeña obtained $150,000 in EIDL loans for Tenares Tire in June 2020, using most of the funds as working capital for his business. In early 2021, his mayoral campaign was struggling to pay bills, and he owed back taxes to the IRS and $900,000 to two private lenders.

DePeña allegedly applied in April 2021 for an increase in his business’s EIDL loan, which the SBA later approved for an additional $350,000, according to the statement.

Prosecutors said DePeña allegedly used $85,000 of the funds to pay off personal tax debts and transferred $120,000 to his personal account, of which $90,000 was later deposited into his mayoral campaign account.

NORAD ADMITS: U.S. CANNOT STOP A DOMESTIC DRONE SWARM

Lt. Gen. Joseph Jarrard said Northern Command lacks the sensors and interceptors needed to defeat an attack launched inside America.

America’s homeland-defense command admits it cannot stop a drone swarm launched from inside the United States.

Army Lt. Gen. Joseph Jarrard, deputy commander of U.S. Northern Command and vice commander of the U.S. element of NORAD, gave the stark assessment during an Aug. 13 defense symposium in Huntsville, Alabama.

Asked whether he could defend against such an attack, Jarrard answered: “No.”

“We don’t have the sensors, and depending on where that swarm is going to attack, it depends on whether we have any sensors at all, and also on whether we’ve got any effectors to go after that problem,” Jarrard said, according to The War Zone.

Jarrard said the command remains “ill-equipped” to counter the threat.

SOFX reported the warning came after Ukraine used 117 drones, allegedly smuggled into Russia and launched from trucks, to strike airfields in June 2025.

The Pentagon has assigned Northern Command to synchronize domestic counter-drone operations. Yet the command fields only one deployable counter-drone kit, which must be requested and flown to the target area.

That system cannot stop an attack that begins and ends before it arrives.

The United States spends vast sums on overseas military commitments. Its own commanders now concede that a cheap, locally launched swarm could still outrun America’s homeland defenses.

MTG: U.S. OFFICIALS DISCUSSING NUCLEAR WEAPONS AGAINST IRAN

Former congresswoman says U.S. officials are actively discussing nuclear weapons use as the conflict drags into month six

Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says U.S. officials are discussing nuclear weapons use against Iran in strategy meetings.

Greene stated on X, writing that the discussions were “real” and not speculation. She provided no documents, named sources, or other evidence in the post.

The former Georgia congresswoman warned that a nuclear strike could drag the world into a wider conflict and accused the Trump administration of breaking its promise to avoid foreign wars.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Trump has repeatedly considered broadening the conventional war but stepped back from options to expand strikes against Iranian infrastructure and leadership.

The report does not mention U.S. nuclear weapons discussions.

Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson echoed that warning during a Mario Nawfal interview. Johnson said a nuclear strike on a single Iranian site could reshape the calculations of Russia, China, North Korea, and potentially Pakistan.

The war has already stretched well beyond the administration’s initial six-week forecast. The Times reported that 18 U.S. service members have died and hundreds have suffered wounds since operations began. Meanwhile, officials have warned that long-range weapons use has depleted stocks of drones, missiles, and air-defense systems.

Greene’s warning puts the question directly to the White House: Is America moving closer to a nuclear threshold in a war that was never supposed to become another endless conflict?

Dems Keep Taking ActBlue Money Despite Mounting Fraud Concerns

Many progressive 2026 candidates continue to accept campaign funds through ActBlue despite ongoing congressional inquiries and allegations from Democratic donors that something suspicious is happening on the mega-fundraising platform.

Recipients of the funds include not only Democratic national figures such as New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed, but also more than 9,000 candidates in state, county and school district elections.

However, a late-July video sheds new light on investigations and Republican complaints of corruption after ActBlue cited an 88-year-old woman living in a Michigan mobile home as having donated more than $150,000 in 1,500 donations over the last five years, according to a video by Michigan Enjoyer.

“Hell no. I don’t have that kind of money,” Elizabeth Waffle said, later adding that she is living in the trailer as her house had burned down two years ago, and even accepted money from the reporter who offered to pay for her to get her overgrown lawn mowed after she complained she wouldn’t have the money to do so.

Waffle said that she had used ActBlue on several occasions, but that “$150,000 is very abnormal, I think it’s wrong, there’s something in there that’s off.”

Since 2004, ActBlue has raised more than $19 billion in donations for almost exclusively Democratic and progressive candidates, but over the last two years has faced joint House committee investigations alleging illicit foreign donations and the failure to prevent fraud in the company.

A joint interim staff report from the Committee on House Administration, the House Judiciary Committee and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform determined that ActBlue had become “more lenient” on fraud despite allegedly being rife with it.

The committees reached that conclusion after finding internal documents suggesting that ActBlue executives and staff were exploiting the platform and had taken steps to hide those changes, with staff instructed to “look for reasons to accept contributions.”

In only a month, ActBlue detected 237 donations made from foreign IP addresses using domestic prepaid cards, the joint committees said.

In 2026, the same committees released a second part of the joint interim staff report that revealed the legal and compliance teams had left the company after the 2024 election and that the five current or former ActBlue employees pleaded the Fifth a total of 146 times during their depositions.

“Put simply: every member of ActBlue’s legal and compliance team appears to have left the platform after the 2024 election because of its ‘knowing and willful’ acceptance of illegal foreign contributions, and the subsequent cover-up,” the committee’s report said.

https://twitter.com/i/status/2071690236212428822

In response, ActBlue released a statement denying allegations that the donation platform had obstructed the committee’s inquiry and claimed it had gone above what was legally required to cooperate with the House.

“ActBlue is a safe and secure fundraising platform that enables millions of Americans to participate at a grassroots level in the most fundamental pillar of our society: elections,” the statement read. “For 21 years, we’ve been a vital part of the infrastructure of our democracy.”

Despite these allegations, no major Democrat had stepped back from ActBlue, continuing to fund their campaigns, with some Democratic lawmakers suggesting the criticism of the fundraising giant was hypocritical while suggesting that the Right is ignoring fraud found in Republican fundraising, while others argued that targeting ActBlue was just an act of racism targeting the group’s Black founder and CEO.

Vulnerabilities in Electronic Voting and Ballot-Counting Systems

From 2004 to 2020, the U.S. Intelligence Community monitored plans by the Venezuelan leadership to electronically manipulate their country’s own voting machines, including the use of substituting false votes, in order to secure victory for the ruling socialists. This intelligence raised concerns in the Intelligence Community that American systems could also be vulnerable. US filings detail Israeli government-linked $1 million media campaign targeting Americans

The filings concern New York-based media company Piro Inc., which is registered to work for Havas Media Germany GmbH on behalf of the Israel Government Advertising Agency, LaPam.

US Justice Department filings show that a communications arrangement undertaken on behalf of the Israeli government included $1 million in disclosed work orders for digital content, research, production and communications aimed at audiences in the United States.

The filings concern New York-based media company Piro Inc., which is registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, FARA, to work for Havas Media Germany GmbH on behalf of the Israel Government Advertising Agency, LaPam.

This was first reported by Politico and then independently researched by The Jerusalem Post.

Piro's registration on FARA identifies Israel as the country represented and LaPam as the government agency represented under the arrangement.

Specifically, it says "Piro, Inc. will provide strategic communications and media relations services in connection with LaPam's engagement on behalf of the State of Israel."

It also says "activities may include communications activities intended to influence the US public." The filing names Eran Shayovitch and Guy Getz as the officials with whom Piro works.

FARA filings outline $1 million communications campaign

The original agreement, dated April 30, 2026, included a $900,000 project titled the "Digital Storytelling Pilot." According to the Work Order, Piro was hired to provide digital content strategy, creative development, video production oversight, and campaign advisory services.

The project included audience research, content architecture, scriptwriting, asset production, distribution planning, and performance analysis.

The filing states that all content produced under the pilot was intended for distribution through digital and social media platforms in the United States.

The budget included $190,000 for strategy and content development, $80,000 for production oversight and creative direction, and $400,000 in video production costs.

The production budget covered expenses including directors and crews, on camera talent, locations, camera and lighting equipment, editing, sound design and music licensing.

A further $95,000 was allocated for distribution advice and program evaluation, $35,000 for strategy and media consultation, and $100,000 for measurement and analytics, bringing the total value of the pilot to $900,000.

Piro's June registration also revealed how the material was expected to reach the public.

The company told the US Justice Department that its activities would include the preparation or dissemination of informational materials. The filing listed websites and short form video platforms among the planned means of distribution, although the specific websites and platforms were listed as still to be determined.

The intended audience was listed as the "General Public," and the material was to be produced in English.

Piro also checked that its work would include "political activities" as that term is defined under FARA, describing the activity as potentially including communications intended to influence the US public.

This does not by itself indicate electoral activity.

According to the FARA documents, the arrangement was expanded in July.

A July 29 amendment filed by Piro informed the Justice Department of an "Additional work order" connected to its agreement with Havas Media Germany on behalf of LaPam.

That work order, dated July 20 and titled "Fact Based Content Initiative," was worth an additional $100,000.

Elon Musk’s announcement that government censorship and content removal requests are now visible through X’s open-source algorithm and public filters like Brazil2026ElectionFilter.

This builds on prior commitments to open-source recommendation code, allowing public inspection of how government-linked moderation affects visibility in feeds and searches.

X continues high compliance rates with takedown requests (83-98.8%), but the change shifts from private handling to documented transparency in the algorithm repository.

Iraqi Kurdistan Prime Minister Survives Iranian Drone Attack

Two one-way attack drones targeted the office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the residence of Erbil’s security chief, causing no casualties, the Iraqi semi-autonomous region’s Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) reported on August 17.

In a brief statement, the CTS identified the drones as Iranian-made Hadid-110s, but provided no further details on the damage caused by the attack

The Hadid, more commonly known as the Hadid-110, features a stealthy faceted design. It is considered the Islamic Republic’s fastest one-way attack drone, with a speed of over 510 kilometers per hour. The drone is said to have a range of 350 kilometers and carries a warhead weighing 30 kg. Not much is known about how the drone is guided, but it is believed to be equipped with a satellite-aided inertial navigation system.

In an X post, Barzani condemned the attacks as a “dangerous escalation” and a “direct threat to the security and stability” of Kurdistan, adding that they would not deter the government from carrying out its duties and protecting citizens.

Iran began targeting Kurdistan soon after the start of the American-Israeli war last February, mainly targeting Iranian Kurdish opposition armed groups. Several of these groups had received arms and money from both the United States and Israel prior to the start of the war as part of an ill-fated plot to launch a ground offensive from Kurdistan into Iraq.

U.S. President Donald Trump ultimately vetoed the plot, reportedly at the request of Turkey, leaving these parties largely abandoned to face Iran alone.

The latest drone attack was likely more of a warning by Iran to the government of Kurdistan, amid a withdrawal by U.S. forces from the region.

According to an Associated Press report published last week, the U.S. is honoring its agreement with Iraq and is expected to complete its troop withdrawal — including from Kurdistan, which had hosted thousands of American forces — by the September 30 deadline.

At the start of the withdrawal process, around three weeks ago, the U.S. pulled out its Patriot air defense systems from Kurdistan, leaving the region even more exposed to Iranian strikes.

Tehran is unlikely to keep tolerating the presence of Iranian Kurdish opposition armed groups in Kurdistan, and is likely to escalate significantly against the region once the U.S. withdrawal is complete. For Iraq and the region’s government, an agreement to disarm these groups may be the best option — though no reports so far indicate that this is under consideration.

29 States Just Dragged Meta Into Federal Court Over What Mark Zuckerberg Did to Kids

A New Mexico judge just ordered Meta to hand over $942 million for the harm it caused to children.

Now Zuckerberg is headed to a federal courtroom in Oakland – and 29 states are waiting for him.

What those states found in Meta's own files could end the company as Zuckerberg knows it.

Meta Faces Federal Trial Over Instagram and Facebook Addiction Claims Against Children

In October 2023, 29 state attorneys general filed a federal lawsuit against Meta in the Northern District of California.

Their core accusation: Meta deliberately engineered Instagram and Facebook to addict children – using infinite scrolling, autoplay video, push notifications, and algorithmic feeds designed to maximize time on screen.

They also alleged Meta violated federal children's privacy law by collecting data from kids under 13 without parental consent.

Families across the country had been saying it for years.

Now the governments of 29 states were saying it in court.

The Internal Documents That Proved Meta Knew Instagram Was Harming Teen Mental Health

The lawsuits followed the documents.

Whistleblower Frances Haugen leaked the Facebook Papers in 2021, revealing Meta's own internal research showed Instagram was damaging the mental health of teenage girls.

Meta knew it – and kept the features running.

Meta executives went to Congress and said there was nothing to worry about.

Then Zuckerberg sat in a Los Angeles courtroom in February and watched a plaintiff's attorney show a jury what his own engineers had written.

"If we want to win big with teens, we must bring them in as tweens."

The jury found Meta and YouTube negligent.

U.S. Special Operations Forces Deploy Near Russia in Western Alaska for Polar Dagger 2026.

U.S. Special Operations Forces have deployed across western Alaska just a few kilometers (a few miles) from Russian territory for Operation POLAR DAGGER 2026, with personnel operating from Little Diomede Island, St. Lawrence Island, Wales, Tin City, Nome, and Point Hope between August 15 and 31. The deployment places U.S. teams along the Bering Strait and western Arctic approaches, testing how quickly they can establish and sustain a forward presence in terrain critical to defending the North American homeland.

The operation tests whether small U.S. forces can deploy, operate, and remain supported from austere Arctic locations near key maritime and air approaches. That capability is becoming increasingly important as the Arctic gains strategic importance for surveillance, deterrence, rapid reinforcement, and protecting U.S. territory.

U.S. Special Operations Command North announced POLAR DAGGER 2026 on August 11, describing it as an annual Arctic deployment exercise conducted across air, land, and maritime domains. The event complements Exercise TUNDRA MERLIN and gives U.S. Northern Command a broader framework for testing how special operations forces integrate with conventional aviation, maritime surveillance, air defense, and long-range fires across Alaska.

The most strategically sensitive location is Little Diomede Island. The U.S. island sits directly opposite Russia’s Big Diomede Island in the Bering Strait, placing American personnel operating there only a few kilometers (a few miles) from Russian territory and beside one of the principal maritime gateways connecting the Pacific and Arctic regions.

For U.S. Special Operations Forces, Little Diomede provides an austere environment for testing missions that depend on small teams operating with limited infrastructure. Any sustained presence there requires reliable communications, resupply, mobility, and extraction, making the island a demanding test of whether specialized forces can remain effective close to Alaska’s most exposed western approaches.

Wales and Tin City reinforce the same geographic position from the eastern side of the Bering Strait. Located on the Seward Peninsula, they provide access to terrain overlooking maritime and air approaches entering western Alaska while placing personnel close to elements of the region’s wider surveillance and early-warning network.

St. Lawrence Island extends the operation farther into the Bering Sea. Located between mainland Alaska and the Russian Far East, it provides another forward position from which activity approaching the Bering Strait can be observed, while also imposing significant requirements for air or maritime resupply and resilient communications.

Nome provides the logistical depth behind these forward positions. Its airfield and transportation infrastructure make it one of the most important staging points in western Alaska, allowing U.S. forces to move personnel, equipment, and supplies toward the Bering Strait region.

That role was already demonstrated during Exercise TUNDRA MERLIN. In late July and early August, U.S. Northern Command used Nome as a staging area for the deployment of U.S. Army personnel, an M142 HIMARS launcher, and an AN/TPQ-53 radar, supported by Royal Canadian Air Force C-17 strategic airlift.

The activity demonstrated that Nome can serve as a gateway for rapidly moving significant military capability into western Alaska. POLAR DAGGER applies the same logic to Special Operations Forces, but with smaller and more dispersed teams operating farther forward.

Point Hope extends the exercise north of the Bering Strait along the Chukchi Sea coast. Its inclusion shows that the operation is not limited to the Bering Strait itself but also addresses access toward the broader Arctic approaches leading north from western Alaska.

Taken together, the six locations form a dispersed chain stretching from the Bering Sea into the Chukchi Sea. That distribution is operationally significant because U.S. Arctic defense cannot depend entirely on large permanent installations across a region defined by enormous distances, sparse infrastructure, and limited road networks.

Special Operations Forces are particularly suited to this type of environment because they can deploy in small teams, operate from austere locations, and support missions involving reconnaissance, surveillance, communications, infrastructure security, and coordination with larger joint-force elements.
