"There are some especially notable developments in that list.

Congress is the big story. DSA's own publication projected that, assuming victories in the heavily Democratic general-election districts, the next Congress could contain at least six DSA members: AOC, Tlaib, Rabb, Avila Chevalier, Valdez and Kiros. It identified Bush and McKinney as potential additions.

Chris Rabb is particularly significant. National DSA endorsed him for Pennsylvania's 3rd Congressional District, and he subsequently won the Democratic primary. DSA describes the district as overwhelmingly Democratic and noted there was no Republican candidate, making his path to Congress unusually strong.

Melat Kiros is another one I'd circle. She defeated longtime Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette in the Colorado-1 primary. DSA describes her platform as including abolishing ICE, ending U.S. military aid to Israel, Medicare for All, and universal childcare and eldercare.

Cori Bush, Donavan McKinney and Rashida Tlaib all went into the August 4 elections with national DSA endorsements, according to DSA's own August election coverage.

And Francesca Hong is worth separating from the congressional candidates because she ran for governor of Wisconsin, giving DSA a statewide executive race rather than another legislative district. DSA itself described that as one of its marquee August contests.

One correction to watch if we turn this into a research graphic: DSA's pages aren't completely internally consistent about Oliver Larkin's Florida district numberโ€”the National Electoral Commission endorsement page identifies him as FL-23, while one Democratic Left article refers to Florida's 25th. I'd verify the official ballot before putting the district on a printable sheet.

Also, AOC is an interesting special case. She's unquestionably one of the country's most prominent politicians associated with DSA, but that doesn't mean every election automatically receives a national DSA endorsement. In 2024, for example, NYC-DSA endorsed her while a request for national endorsement was subsequently withdrawn. That's exactly why I'd label a future graphic National DSA / Local DSA / DSA Member separately instead of putting one generic โ€œDSA endorsedโ€ stamp beside everybody."
