Most religions point to the same truths with different emphasis on cultural substrate to support a core mystical practice (either as a group or individually, as a daily practice or lengthy/indefinite seclusion from the rest of society). We now have many books translated available online; it's obvious that there are parallels. Buddhism gets at the meat of what is most directly related to real spiritual change through practice (look into this if you actually want results), while Christianity is preoccupied with the morality that is important at all other times.
