This weekend I was a LebAnon and noticed a few interesting things:
-
UN vehicles (like, maybe 2 that I noticed) parked along the coastal highway between Beirut and places further north.
-
What seemed like a pretty significant increase in police presence.
-
More number of trucks, cars, and motorcycles loaded to the hilt with belongings, kids, and women LITERALLY strapped to the back. Passed more than 1 motorcycle with husband driving, with a child in his lap, and mama sitting sideways in the back with a child in HER lap. Perhaps the only reason I really noticed these things was because of the women's clothing.
-
Flight back home had a veryveryvery, um, "well-built" group of British mil fellas on it. HuzAnon said something about being ODA counterpart or something. (It was like, 4am. Fuck that shit.)
Anyway - I have no idea what any of these things mean - just know that I'm there frequently and this weekend was different.
LASTLY, speaking of the veryveryvery well-built fellas, one (that I noticed) was wearing a t-shirt with (pic related).
