This weekend I was a LebAnon and noticed a few interesting things:

  1. UN vehicles (like, maybe 2 that I noticed) parked along the coastal highway between Beirut and places further north.

  2. What seemed like a pretty significant increase in police presence.

  3. More number of trucks, cars, and motorcycles loaded to the hilt with belongings, kids, and women LITERALLY strapped to the back. Passed more than 1 motorcycle with husband driving, with a child in his lap, and mama sitting sideways in the back with a child in HER lap. Perhaps the only reason I really noticed these things was because of the women's clothing.

  4. Flight back home had a veryveryvery, um, "well-built" group of British mil fellas on it. HuzAnon said something about being ODA counterpart or something. (It was like, 4am. Fuck that shit.)

Anyway - I have no idea what any of these things mean - just know that I'm there frequently and this weekend was different.

LASTLY, speaking of the veryveryvery well-built fellas, one (that I noticed) was wearing a t-shirt with (pic related).
