Perhaps with the significant exception of Russia, most nations built on an "energy-extraction" economy are not remotely capable of defending themselves on their own.

Or even extract and sell the energy.

They rely on some combination of foreign (US often) technology to extract the energy, foreign (US often) arms to provide defense, and adherence to "international norms" (grounded in reasonable American ideas even if now used to promote globohomo cuckery) to inhibit us from just going in and taking what we want.

If we wanted something from Angola, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, etc, we could in theory just go take it, right?

Saudi Arabia is really the most ridiculous case.

A bunch of fucking desert nomads.

(seriously, much respect for that, but not preparation per se for global geopolitics)

Miraculously they become a major player after WW2 because automobiles.

NO: we could have just taken their oil and subjugated their desert asses.

We ALLOWED them to become a world player.

We gave them technology to extract and sell oil.

And technology to militarily defend their desert peninsula.

But somebody let the somewhat astute rulers their to give free reign to the "Wahabi" cocksuckers and even fund them.

They were allowed to promote their fanatical faggotry to heretofore docile Muslim populations around the world.

Who allowed and/or endorsed this?
