Amazon Studios Exec Leaving Amid Claims of ‘Inappropriate Comments,’ ‘Misuse of Power’

7 Aug 2018

Amazon Studios’ Heather Schuster is leaving the technology behemoth amid allegations of misconduct by the entertainment executive.

Schuster, Amazon’s Head of Unscripted, was the subject of a recent internal investigation prompted by allegations that she made “inappropriate comments during meetings,” and engaged in possible “misuse of power.” The Amazon executive previously worked as a producer on President Donald Trump’s wildly popular reality television show The Apprentice for five seasons and was a Senior Vice President of Creative Affairs at Reveille.

Deadline reports.

The ex-Ryan Seacrest Productions exec Schuster joined the Amazon fold as a senior creative executive last August. On October 24, 2017, Schuster was appointed the head of unscripted programming. She replaced Riggs, one of two close associates of embattled former Amazon Studios head Roy Price, along with Joe Lewis, to leave shortly after Price’s ouster following sexual harassment allegations,”

Price resigned from the Jeff Bezos-owned motion picture studio following explosive allegations of sexual misconduct from Isa Hackett, a producer for the Amazon original series Man in the High Castle.

“You will love my dick,” the Amazon Studios executive allegedly told Hackett.

In addition, Price was accused of pressuring actresses Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman into showing their bare breasts in the program Big Little Lies and “mused aloud why he would greenlight the show if they didn’t.”

Ken Blackwell: Kavanaugh the Kind of ‘Umpire’ Needed on Supreme Court

7 Aug 2018

Ken Blackwell endorsed President Donald Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court Brett Kavanaugh in an op-ed published by the Hill on Sunday, calling him the kind of “umpire” needed on the bench.

Calling Kavanaugh a Constitutional originalist that the president promised to nominate, Blackwell said his record speaks for itself.

“In his 12 years on a federal court of appeals, Judge Kavanaugh developed a clear, consistent record of textualism and originalism,” wrote Blackwell, who served as a domestic policy adviser to the presidential transition team and also served as the mayor of Cincinnati and as that state’s treasurer and secretary of state.

“This means that he can be relied upon to protect religious liberty and ensure that administrative agencies stay within their legal authority,” Blackwell wrote.

“Judge Kavanaugh’s respect for the Constitution and the proper role of a judge is evident from a speech last year at Notre Dame Law School in which he likened the role of a judge to that of an umpire, one who is mindful of a fair and independent process and the law as it is written, not bound by allegiance to a team,” Blackwell wrote.

Blackwell said Kavanaugh has lived up to the umpire comparison “ruling on the letter of the law and the Constitution, not out of loyalty to a worldview or political party.”

And this approach, Blackwell wrote, ensures Kavanaugh will be a vote to protect religious liberty, including his decision in Priests for Life v. HHS where Kavanaugh argued that the Health and Human Services (HHS) contraception mandate — even with the “accommodation” offered by the Obama administration after losing the Hobby Lobby case — imposed a “substantial burden” on religious organizations.

Blackwell also cited a case where an atheist group challenged the constitutionality of the presidential oath of office that includes “so help me God.”

Kavanaugh stood firmly by the law, Blackwell wrote, and concluded that the presidential oath did not constitute the establishment of a state religion and that “like the practice of legislative prayer, use of ‘so help me God’ in oaths for government officials is deeply rooted in the Nation’s history and tradition.”

Blackwell said that Kavanaugh’s record also shows he believes the law calls for “strict limits” on the administrative state, including limiting federal agency “overreach.”

Blackwell gave as an example the Obama-era net neutrality rule imposed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) where in two separate cases Kavanaugh dissented in finding certain EPA regulations exceeded their statutory limits, which was upheld by the Supreme Court in 5-4 opinions written by Justice Antonin Scalia.

Blackwell pointed out that Kavanaugh is also a skeptic of the “so-called Chevron deference,” which gives deference to federal agencies on certain issues.

Kavanaugh has called Chevron deference “an atextual invention by courts…nothing more than a judicially orchestrated shift of power from Congress to the Executive Branch.”

Thought experiment:

Your offered a ticket to fly with a pilot that has crashed every flight he's been on and he is the only one that ever survives. You gonna take em up on that ticket?

More likely HRC's server. They had that also before the assignations took place. Could be a combo of both though. Wouldn't rule it out.

Look at who was most likely to get a list of names from C_A. Or if there is a record when Feinstein was privy to them.

Winning: Study Shows Worldwide Terror Attacks Falling Under Trump

7 Aug 2018

U.S. President Donald Trump presided over a decline of nearly 25 percent in the number of terrorist attacks and their lethality across the globe last year compared to 2016, a feat likely made possible by the ongoing demise of the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL), a U.S. government-linked study shows.

Although ISIS remains the most prolific and deadly jihadi group in the world, followed by the Afghan Taliban and al-Qaeda’s Somalia-based al-Shabaab, the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) noted a decline in ISIS attacks in a report released on August 1:

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) was responsible for the most terrorist attacks (1,321) and deaths (7,120) in 2017, though were responsible for 10 percent fewer attacks and 40 percent fewer deaths than in 2016. The Taliban and al-Shabaab were the next most active with 907 attacks (4,925 deaths) and 573 attacks (1894 deaths) respectively.

Established as a Center for Excellence by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate, the University of Maryland issues various START studies every year.

The consortium catalogs attacks across the world by terrorists of all stripes, from ISIS to members of the Communist Party of India-Maoist.

START reported:

In 2017, there were 10,900 terrorist attacks around the world, which killed more than 26,400 people, including 8,075 perpetrators and 18,488 victims…In 2016, more than 13,400 terrorist attacks took place around the world, resulting in more than 34,000 total deaths, including more than 11,600 perpetrator deaths. This represents a 9 percent decrease in the total number of terrorist attacks, and a 10 percent decrease in the total number of deaths, in comparison to 2015.

START acknowledged that the number of terrorist attacks peaked at the pinnacle of the Islamic State’s power in 2014 when it controlled swathes of Iraq and Syria and announced its “caliphate” in those two countries, along with intentions to expand to all corners of the world:
