You would be correct.

Anon's take: There is the "real world" which operates as it does eternally, then there is a layer of abstraction removed from the "real world" by some degree, in which people communicate what they observe about the "real world" and through discourse can plan to take coordinated actions to further any goals.

Anyone who relies upon such symbols to coordinate action will be fundamentally less efficient than those who interact directly with the "real world" itself. This becomes an even larger issue for them when the world is flooded with symbols which have little or no connection to their coordination.

Lastly, don't be so quick to decide who you think is in the right here.

How doesn't it apply? There was a comparison made between skipping meals and eating regularly. I'm not trying to say that artificial food is good for you, just pointing out another important factor involved.
