I may have to apologize to duellists. It's a bit of an alien concept for me, but through further reading I'm coming to appreciate there is a rather significant division within society between those with positive and those with negative outlooks on the overall picture.

Considering this perspective also shines more light on something which has long bothered me about online discourse, as social spaces are divided by left/right political sensibilities, and so regardless of where you are there is a blending of positive and negative outlooks, often without clarity for the participants.

There are a lot of very cool recent developments in cancer treatment, immunotherapy being my favourite. I also heard about one funny one where they put tiny iron balls in the cancer and use a magnet to turn them into a blender, though I have no idea if that one actually ended up going anywhere.

Cancer survival rates are up drastically recently, however. It's just that "cancer" isn't any one specific thing the way many diseases are, so looking for a universal cure is missing the point a bit.
