Trump Complained About Big Oil Profits, But Dumped Exxon Stock On Ceasefire Day

President Donald Trump’s investment accounts sold between $500,000 and $1 million of ExxonMobil stock on April 7, the same day Trump announced a ceasefire in the Iran war and hours before Exxon shares opened 6.5% lower, according to financial disclosures reviewed by CBS News.

Exxon closed at $163.91 on April 7 before Trump announced the ceasefire that evening and opened at $153.52 the following morning. The transaction was one of hundreds of thousands of dollars in purchases and sales involving Exxon, Chevron, ConocoPhillips and other oil and gas companies during the first half of 2026, according to filings with the Office of Government Ethics as reported by CBS News.

Those trades continued through a war that sent oil prices sharply higher and delivered some of the strongest earnings for U.S. oil majors since 2022. ExxonMobil and Chevron ultimately earned a combined $26.5 billion in the second quarter as the Iran war and disruption to oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz drove crude prices and refining margins sharply higher. Exxon reported $14.5 billion in net income, more than double its year-earlier profit and its best result in four years, while Chevron reported record net income of $12.2 billion, nearly five times its year-earlier result. Trump subsequently accused the companies of making “too much money” and demanded that they cut fuel prices.

CBS reported that Trump’s accounts executed roughly 3,600 stock and securities trades worth between $212 million and $695 million during the first quarter alone. Democrats on the Joint Economic Committee estimate that his oil and gas holdings increased in value from between $13 million and $46 million at the start of the year to between $17 million and $61 million by mid-August. The estimate does not include trades made during 2026.

The White House said Trump does not direct the trades. Spokesman Davis Ingle told CBS that the portfolio is managed independently by third-party financial institutions using computer-based model portfolios and that Trump and his family cannot influence when securities are bought or sold.

Trump has not placed his assets in a blind trust, and federal law does not prohibit presidents from owning or trading individual stocks. His energy holdings remain a small portion of a fortune Forbes estimates at more than $6 billion.

State AGs Target 'Big Four' Accounting Firms, Claim They're Pushing Climate Disclosures

A coalition of 16 state attorneys general is investigating the "Big Four" accounting firms, alleging that they may have pushed climate accounting on client companies.

"The Big Four's climate commitments force clients to make burdensome climate-related disclosures that drive up the costs of their services and place onerous requirements on farmers and small businesses," Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers, who co-led the coalition, said in a statement.

"These costs will ultimately be passed onto consumers, who will be forced to bear the burden of increased prices for food, energy, and other everyday products."

These accounting firms - Deloitte, KPMG, Ernst & Young, and PriceWaterhouseCoopers - together provide an estimated 80 percent of all public company audits, according to Becker, an education organization for professionals.

The AGs' letter states that the accounting firms "appear to have violated their professional duty of independence by committing to push for climate-related disclosures in financial reporting, contrary to professional standards of materiality, neutrality, and error avoidance."

The letter also highlights the accounting firms' former membership in the U.N.-sponsored Net Zero Financial Service Providers Alliance (NZFSPA), in which members pledge to align their products and services with the Paris Climate Agreement's net-zero goals.

In addition, the AGs stated that climate-related disclosures could become a significant financial burden for smaller firms, and that "the highly speculative nature of climate-related disclosures" could expose all firms that produce such reports to "frivolous and costly litigation."

Consequently, the accounting firms could be exposed to charges of conflict of interest and be in violation of state laws against "deceptive acts and practices," the letter warned.

The NZFSPA, which formerly operated as part of a network of financial alliances under the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), included ratings agencies, data and index providers, proxy advisors, auditors and stock exchanges.

In January, the NZFSPA announced that it was reorganizing, with member companies "now pursuing activities independently."

Palantir is inside the House. Surveillance and the NDIS

The Government is sharing your data between agencies and even with controversial CIA-linked surveillance group Palantir. Without permission, without disclosure.

If you receive NDIS funding, or provide services to someone who does, 25 government agencies are sharing information about you. You were never asked. You were never told. The rules governing how they do it were written after the sharing began and have never been published.

And the officials overseeing it include two people who gave evidence at the Robodebt Royal Commission — the scheme a Royal Commission found unlawful, that destroyed people’s lives, and for which nobody was ever prosecuted.

At the centre of this story is a question nobody in Parliament was required to answer: does NDIS participant data that flows through a 25-agency government network reach Palantir Technologies — the controversial American surveillance company whose software runs inside the CIA, the Pentagon and Immigration and Customs Enforcement?

AUSTRAC – Australia’s financial intelligence agency – holds a $12.07m Palantir contract. Banks are instructed to send AUSTRAC reports flagging NDIS-referenced transactions. Those reports contain personal details of NDIS participants. Whether that data reaches Palantir’s systems has not yet been confirmed or denied.

Nobody asked. Nobody was required to answer.

The NDIS is not the only part of this story. The same network includes the ATO, the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission and the Department of Home Affairs. A Services Australia internal assessment, released under FOI, stated that Palantir “is known to be used by Australian intelligence agencies”.

The Department of Defence holds a separate confirmed Palantir contract.

In the United Kingdom, the National Health Service awarded Palantir a £330 million contract for a national health data platform. By 2026, however, the NHS was trying to exit the arrangement after a parliamentary committee described Palantir’s presence as ‘an unacceptable point of weakness’.

How deeply Palantir is embedded across Australian government – and under what oversight – has never been the subject of a formal parliamentary inquiry.

The rules nobody published

The Fraud Fusion Taskforce was established on 1 November 2022, co-led by the NDIA and Services Australia. Within weeks, 25 government agencies were sharing information about NDIS participants, providers and payments across a network that includes AUSTRAC, the financial intelligence agency, the ATO, the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission.

The rules governing who can access the most sensitive details of a disabled person’s life, and the financial records of the businesses that support them, have never been made public.

Two governance documents cover the Taskforce’s arrangements. The first, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) dated 25 May 2023, was signed six months after data sharing began. The second, a Data Governance Framework, was finalised in June 2024, eighteen months after data sharing began.

Both these documents have been released in part under Freedom of Information. Both are heavily redacted. The sections covering how data is actually handled — and on what platforms — are not visible.

Doug Collins' 1979 Immigration Warning Fell on Deaf Ears

During his four years in a Nazi prisoner of war camp, Doug Collins (1920-2001) made ten

escape attempts.

In his 1979 book (left) he tried to alert English Canadians to the fact that the racial and cultural character of their country was being changed by third world immigration in order to divide and disposes them. His warning has come to pass.

"Back in the 1980s and 1990s,, Doug Collins had been a highly-regarded commentator. He had worked for the CBC and the Vancouver Sun et cetera. He was writing a column in the North Vancouver news. He was "well in" with the media figures in B. C. He started with re-thinking the sudden flood of non-white immigrants; he then went off on a tangent = criticizing the Jews and Israelis. Even though Izzy Asper directed Collins to be fired, his editor at the N. Van News stood by him.

At age 70, he went in to the Lionsgate hospital for a minor surgery. But didn't come out alive.

No doubt in my mind that Doug Collins was murdered. Even though he was a relatively minor 'influencer", he had tremendous credibility here at that time. When he started commenting - reasonably and politely - about "Race", the pack of media jackals turned on him. He was hauled before the so called Human Rights tribunal for 'anti semite-ism'. Collins had served as a Sergeant in the British Army in WW2. Escaped repeatedly from prisoner of war camps. He was on good terms with folks here, particularly, judges who'd risen up the legal profession ladder in Vancouver. "
