There are two unknowns:

Together, they completely determine the outcome of a perfectly elastic 1-D collision.

 

The diagram in the upper-right looks like an unrelated electrical circuit (resistor/source symbols), while the equations underneath are clearly mechanical-collision mathematics. The large symbols/images appear to be decorative rather than part of the calculation.

 

That second object can therefore leave faster than the first object initially was, because the lighter object receives a substantial amount of kinetic energy.
