Moscow picks leaders and the populous act like they support those picks. Truth be told, most all of Russia is run by puppet picks by Moscow's ("elected" officials) who are allowed to operate at the consent of the local mafia.
Where the map shows a USA flag is plausible showing good relations with the "iStan" states but those good relations IMO only go as far as economic relations. If things go kinetic there would be little support outside of personal relationships.
