Regardless of the legal aspects, this Manafort case is horrible optics for Trump
Both of these people - Manafort and Gates - seem like horrible people.
They are definitely trying to create a 'guilt by association' issue for Trump.
That he hired them and kept Gates on looks really bad.
HOWEVER, legally, there is nothing tied to Trump.
They were acquitted on charges by RR
They were interviewed an not charged by the FBI in 2014
In the eyes of the law, there is absolutely no reason why Trump shouldn't have hired them.
Innocent until proven guilty?
