Trump DOJ subpoenas Nevada’s Democrat election chief for voter records
The Homeland Security Department announced in July a preliminary review of Nevada’s voter rolls identified nearly 16,000 voters in the state who could be foreigners.

The Trump Justice Department has issued multiple subpoenas to Nevada’s Democrat election chief seeking voter information as it cracks down on states that have allowed noncitizens to register to vote or have had problems cleaning voter rolls.
Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar confirmed his office received “seven voter-related DOJ subpoenas from the FBI over the last three months.”
His announcement came just days after his office confirmed the state removed a large number of voters from its roll ahead of the November elections.
Aguilar said the state removed a net of 50,130 registered voters in August, about a 2.4 percent decline.
“The decrease in active registered voters is largely due to list maintenance activities and often occurs ahead of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) 90-day quiet period before an election, which prohibits routine list maintenance activities until the election is over,” he said.
Aguilar is among the secretaries of state who have opposed President Donald Trump’s election integrity moves, including an executive order restricting absentee ballots.
He portrayed the subpoenas as part of Trump’s efforts to pressure states.
“The federal administration is inundating election offices with investigations and questions ahead of the election, and making sweeping claims of election fraud to the public before any investigation is done,” he said. “We will continue standing up for Nevada voters and remain focused on running a safe, secure and transparent election this fall.”
