Well, something for the planefaqs

Everyone is focused on the Amazon cargo jet that crashed in Miami. I started looking at the airline actually flying it: 21 Air.

Its pilot group appears to have grown from ~20 in 2021 to ~135 today, probably to support the 7 additional 767s Amazon shifted to it from Atlas Air.

Public résumés show current pilots with prior flying careers in Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Central America, Ethiopia and India. 21 Air also hires permanent residents and other work-authorized noncitizens.

Not particularly relevant but interesting: the company is controlled by Jim Crane, owner of the Houston Astros.

How this little-known carrier scaled this fast may be worth digging into.
