The U.S. Coast Guard this week joined the search for a missing passenger plane that disappeared on the way back from the Bahamas at the request of Nassau.
The plane had four passengers aboard, including a married couple and their two grandchildren. The fate of the aircraft and its passengers is unknown, but authorities believe it crashed roughly 160 miles from Miami, The Hill reported.
“The Royal Bahamian Defense Force requested Coast Guard assistance following a report of a downed airplane with 4 people aboard approximately 15 miles off Andros Island, Bahamas,” the Coast Guard told the outlet.
Rescue efforts were temporarily paused due to inclimate weather.

Smithsonian Secretary Lonnie Bunch III on Tuesday announced that he would retire at the end of the war, the Washington Post reported.
His retirement comes amid pressure from the Trump administration, which has worked to revamp many of the Institute's museums and displays.
Last year, the administration notified the Smithsonian that it would review museum exhibits ahead of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
“This initiative aims to ensure alignment with the president’s directive to celebrate American exceptionalism, remove divisive or partisan narratives, and restore confidence in our shared cultural institutions,” read a letter sent to Bunch at the time.

Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kansas, went to bat for Canadian jet manufacturer Bombardier after President Donald Trump sharply criticized the company amid a trade row with Ottawa.
Bombardier is a manufacturer of private commercial jets headquartered in Montreal. It maintains a significant presence in Kansas.
"The presence of Bombardier in Wichita supports a local workforce of more than a thousand employees, who contribute their talent and expertise to our nation’s defense and aerospace capabilities," Moran said on X.
"This afternoon, I reached out to the Trump administration to make certain the President is aware of the significant contributions of Bombardier to Kansas and the importance of its presence in Wichita to many Kansas workers at Bombardier and in the Bombardier supply chain," he added.
Trump had sharply criticized Bombardier amid the trade row, saying they "live off American buyers" and demanding they manufacture their plans in the United States.
"Buy American. Fly on American airliners," he added.

Ukraine's prosecutor general resigned his position on Monday, citing pollical reasons.
Ruslan Kravchenko provided few details in a statement on Telegram, but said his resignation "is a political decision" and that he "made it consciously," Reuters reported.
He thanked President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukraine's parliament, and asked that they accept his resignation.
Ukraine's anti-corruption agencies, the NABU and SAPO, said last week they'd uncovered a criminal organization dealing with fraudulent call centers. Allegedly, these were arranged by an official within the Prosecutor General's office.
Kravchenko denied involvement in the alleged scheme.

The five people killed when an Amazon cargo jet ran off the runaway at Miami International Airport on Sunday were inside a van on the ground, authorities said.
The van was used to shuttle crews who clean planes, the Associated Press reported.
The jet failed to stop before running out of runway, and slammed into the van, which was on airport property. The jet then continued through a fence and smashed into an SUV on a city street.
Five other people were injured. The pilot and co-pilot have been released from the hospital, according to Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz. Two others remain in critical condition while a third is in stable condition, Cordero-Stutz told the Associated Press.

That may be more due to the placement of lights shinning on the building. It would be difficult to place lights in the front and center part due to the grand entry path.
