I think it's because their smile is more smug and pleasing.
The white hat is wearing glasses like a faggot and the main one, in center, looks literally retarded.
Also, the white coats look like lab coats which are not as cool as trenchcoats.

Maybe make the white hats more smug and the black hats look nervous and retarded?
