President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he would consider giving his former personal attorney Michael Cohen a pardon after Cohen said he felt he was "pressured and coerced" while testifying against Trump in a criminal trial.

"If everything is checking out, it's something I would consider," Trump told reporters when asked if he would pardon Cohen.

"I appreciate that at least he came out, although late, he came out and rectified the situation."

A presidential pardon forgives a federal offense but does not declare the recipient innocent or erase the conviction from the criminal record, according to the Office of the Pardon Attorney. It can remove certain civil restrictions resulting from the conviction, potentially restore federal firearms rights, and improve the recipient's ability to obtain employment, professional licenses or bonding.

Cohen was a prominent critic and a prosecution witness in Trump's 2024 New York criminal trial. Cohen testified that Trump was involved in arranging a payment to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Cohen pleaded guilty in 2018 to campaign-finance violations, tax evasion, bank fraud, and lying to Congress. He received a three-year federal sentence and completed his prison term and supervision requirements in November 2024. Asked whether he might seek a presidential pardon, Cohen said he did not know but might consider it later.

Yemen’s Houthis have seized the crucial Red Sea city of al-Makha (Mocha) and are advancing toward the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, media reports claimed on Thursday.

According to Reuters, the Houthis pushed Saudi-backed government forces out of Mocha after several days of fierce fighting, capturing both the city and its port. Witnesses told AFP that they saw Houthi fighters entering on Thursday chanting “death to America, death to Israel.”

The Houthis have also reportedly attacked the strategic Hanish islands, pushing government forces further south. An unnamed military source claimed the group seized Zuqar Island after rocket attacks and an amphibious assault. Control of the area would strengthen the Houthis’ position on Yemen’s side of Bab al-Mandeb, potentially cutting government supply routes and depriving Saudi-backed forces of a key logistics hub, sources said.

An AI-Designed Drug Just Moved Six Different Aging Clocks At Once

Developed by Insilico Medicine, the drug - rentosertib - was initially engineered to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a progressive, age-associated lung-scarring disease. When researchers analyzed blood samples from a Phase IIa clinical trial, they applied six proteomic profiling "aging clocks" among 42 participants. All six detected reductions in predicted biological age, whereas the placebo group showed little change or slight increases. The most pronounced and consistent effects emerged around week four of treatment.

The study was authored by Insilico with academic collaborators from Harvard, Stanford, the Broad Institute, RWTH Aachen, Peking University and Westlake University.

Insilico used AI not only to identify a specific enzyme (TNIK) linked to both fibrosis and aging pathways, but also to generate and optimize the specific molecule designed to inhibit it. That dual application makes rentosertib a rare clinical test of AI uncovering a target case and building new therapeutics from scratch.

If you manage to add 3 years to everyone's life, the drug should be able to significantly extend the healthy portion of life as well, translating into trillions of dollars in productivity and savings," said Alex Zhavoronkov, Insilico's founder and co-CEO.

And according to 2013 chemistry Nobel laureate Michael Levitt, "What convinces me is not the size of the effect but the agreement, because these models share neither their features nor their training data," he said of the six clocks reaching the same conclusion on the same 42 patients.

Rentosertib is no longer confined to early-stage laboratory work. In July, Insilico announced that the drug had entered a randomized Phase III trial, expected to enroll 320 IPF patients for a 52-week, once-daily regimen. That trial is designed to evaluate pulmonary-fibrosis efficacy and safety, not life extension - but it advances an AI-generated molecule into the final phase of clinical development. Of note - the study does not prove that rentosertib extends human lifespan or literally shaves years off a patient's age. But the clock results, the senescence and metabolic pathway shifts, and the dose-dependent FVC gains all point the same way, and more study is needed to understand the possibilities.

But even without knowing those facts it already strains credulity to believe Israel had no advance knowledge of a complex attack which would require extensive open-air training in one of the most heavily surveilled strips of land on our planet. Especially when you look at all the pre-existing military agendas Israel was able to push forward in the aftermath.

So all that hasbara about the hostages and the Bibas kids and how Hamas needed to be destroyed because they were refusing to release innocent civilian captives was complete bunk from the very beginning. Hamas offered to release them with no conditions but the opening of communication lines. Israel refused, because what they wanted was to steal more Palestinian land. It was never about the hostages, and anyone who said it was is a liar.

DATA CENTER MYTH BUSTED: No Jobs, Higher Debt, Slower Housing

A county-level review finds the facilities don’t lift local employment or business formation. Governments borrow more, home-price growth cools, and schools lean harder on property taxes

The data-center gold rush has marched into local communities on one familiar promise: Big Tech brings jobs, growth, and prosperity.

A new 75-page academic working paper found something very different.

Finance scholars Liu Ee Chia, Jess Cornaggia, David Haushalter, and Qiang Wang compared U.S. counties with operational data centers against “near-miss” counties that attracted proposals but never got operating facilities.

They found little corresponding improvement in fiscal capacity, local employment, or business formation.

Instead, local-government borrowing costs climbed as data-center development grew. Water-bond yields rose 26 basis points more in water-scarce counties than in water-abundant counties.

The paper also found higher school-bond yields in major data-center hubs, where housing-price growth slowed. The authors said those patterns aligned with a weaker expected property-tax base.

Saagar Enjeti highlighted the study’s bottom line: data centers can pull capital and utilities into a county without delivering the broad labor-market gains that politicians and corporate developers sell.

A February Brookings analysis reached a similar warning: the standard data-center model produces temporary construction work and little durable local upside.

The pitch was jobs. The record says debt, strained infrastructure, and a thinner tax base may arrive first.

Trump labeled it the “Trump Dividend.” Associated Press and Reuters confirmed he attached the payment to Republicans retaining the House and Senate.

Federal law addresses offers made to influence an election.

“Whoever makes or offers to make an expenditure to any person, either to vote or withhold his vote, or to vote for or against any candidate.” — United States Code

That is the operative language of 18 U.S.C. § 597, the federal ban on expenditures to influence voting. The statute provides a fine, up to one year in prison, or both; a willful violation carries up to two years.

Trump’s offer did not merely promise broad economic policy. He made a cash pledge conditional on voters returning his party to power.

The legal argument turns on the statute’s phrase “in consideration of” a person’s vote. AP reported that attorney John Day called it a legal campaign promise because Trump offered the money to all adults, regardless of how any individual voted.

But the president’s own condition remains the issue. His proposal did not say Americans would receive $5,000 because the country prospered. It said they would receive it if Republicans won.

The law assigns the potential penalty. The Justice Department now has the words.
