It is almost like replacing the currency inside of the USA.
No need to replace coins in circulation. They are not issued by the Federal Reserve.
“We do have one proviso, and that’s that the money be spent, people spend their money in the United States,” Trump said.
It is not like any other country has changed their old coins and notes and will not accept them unless in person in that country.

Mexico reducing the use of cash. Many Mexicans I know keep their savings in cash at home. Maybe the peso will still be good. You just can’t use it to buy things the government decides are bad cash purchases.
