At 9:03 a.m. on September 11, 2001, hijacked United Airlines Flight 175, a Boeing 767 flying from Boston to Los Angeles, crashed into floors 77–85 of the South Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. The aircraft was traveling at approximately 587 mph (945 km/h) when it struck the building. The impact caused a massive fireball and severe structural damage.
