Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu atop Mt. Hermon in Syria

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Mt. Hermon in Syria, together with Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Deputy Chief-of-Staff Maj- Gen. Tamir Yadai.

The Prime Minister was briefed at an IDF outpost overlooking Syria by Head of Northern Command Maj.-Gen. Rafi Milo and 210th Division Commander Brig.-Gen. Yair Palai, on operational activity in the sector.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:

"On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, we are atop Mt. Hermon. Damascus is right here, Lebanon is right there, the Syrian Golan Heights are right there, and we control the entire area from the Hermon Crown to the Yarmouk River, and from here to the Mediterranean Sea – absolute control the likes of which has never been seen before. We will not allow any terrorist army to establish itself on our border, and this is one of the tremendous achievements we have attained in the War of Redemption.

And from these peaks, there is still work to do: The main task is to defeat the terrorist regime in Iran. We are very close to it. We know that the entire axis will ultimately fall. We are committed to doing this, and we will do it. I wish a Happy New Year to the citizens of Israel and to our heroic soldiers who are doing the job here."

25 years after 9/11: We remember. We stand together. We will defeat terror.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:

25 years ago, thousands of innocent people went to work in the World Trade Center in New York. They never came home.

For those who know such loss, it never leaves you. America remembers them. Israel remembers them.

We remember the firefighters who ran up the stairs while everyone else was running down. We remember the police officers, the first responders, the passengers who bravely fought back on the hijacked planes, and we remember the evil that murdered them.

On September 11th, America was hit by pure evil. On October 7th, Israel was hit by it again.

And yet today, some tell us to understand the terrorists, to understand their grievances, to understand their context. No. There is no context for burning families alive. There is no grievance that justifies murdering innocents deliberately.

There is no "yes, but" when it comes to terrorism.

Listen to what the terrorists themselves chant: "Death to America, death to Israel." And that's no coincidence. They hate both of us for the same reason, because America and Israel stand for freedom, for democracy, for civilization. For life.

Under President Trump's leadership, America has shown once again that it stands up to terror.

So today, we remember. We remember those who were taken. We honor those who ran towards the flames.

And America and Israel say together, we will never bow to terrorism. We will never surrender to evil. And together, we will defeat it.
