Apparently the US Naval base at Bahrain has been obliterated as a result of Iranian missile strikes, and is being abandoned.

This means that US logistics has to move back to Diego Garcia, which is 4500 mile return journey.

This is an unmitigated disaster.

"Retired Navy Capt. John Cordle recently described the loss of NSA Bahrain as having “profound tactical and strategic repercussions.”

“The more we learn about the attacks on the U.S. Naval Support Activity in Manama, Bahrain, during the opening days of Operation Epic Fury, the clearer it becomes why the news of its near destruction was not initially reported or acknowledged,” Cordle said."

I guess its working, because the US Airbase in Jordan has also been hit really hard.

The Iranians destroyed a key logistics hanger, that serviced the F35 and F15E, and those aircraft can no longer be serviced there, or bombed up, and will have to be withdrawn.

The US warships deploy the Standard Missile family, specifically the SM-2 and the multi-role SM-6, which are launched from Mark 41 Vertical Launching Systems (VLS), and these systems cannot be reloaded at sea, only in a port (or a still water harbor).

This means that if US warship uses up its missile defenses, it will have to steam back to DG to rearm, and this will leave a gap, that has to filled by another warship, in the mean time.

This instantly doubles the fuel bill, and everything else bill, and then there is the question of SM-2 supplies, as the stockpile at Bahrain was destroyed.

Wars cannot be won militarily, only economically, just as battles cannot be won by fighting, only by logistics.

The side who has the best logistics ALWAYS wins the battle, just look at Afghanistan, Iraq, now Iran….

Destroyed and evacuated.

They took the Military out, but left the families behind.
