Cyberattack sends International Meteor Organization crashing back to Earth

Attack dealt a 'critical blow' to aging infrastructure, with several weeks of disruption expected

The International Meteor Organization (IMO) is watching for fireballs again, but much of its website remains offline after a cyberattack that it says will take weeks to recover from.

The Belgium-based nonprofit, which coordinates meteor observations and brings together amateur and professional astronomers worldwide, is currently serving visitors a stripped-down holding page explaining the outage.

"We recently suffered a cyberattack that dealt a critical blow to aging infrastructure, taking much of our site offline," the organization said. "We expect several weeks of partial downtime as we transition to new infrastructure and services."

IMO has not disclosed when the attack occurred, how the attackers gained access, or whether they accessed or encrypted any data.

The organization collects reports from people who spot unusually bright meteors, or fireballs, and uses those observations to help document and analyze events. Its notice says it prioritized restoring that capability after the attack.

"We prioritized restoring fireball reporting, and it is available again," IMO said. "If you saw a fireball or a bright light in the sky, you can still submit your observation."

Other parts of the site remain unavailable while the organization rebuilds its infrastructure.

IMO's warning that the process will take several weeks suggests this is more than a case of simply restoring a compromised web server, although the organization has not disclosed the extent of the damage.

The incident also leaves some unanswered questions about the data held on the affected systems. IMO operates services used by meteor observers and members around the world, but has not said whether information belonging to users or contributors was exposed during the attack.

The Register asked IMO when the attack occurred, which systems were affected, whether any data was compromised, and whether it has identified who was responsible, but has not yet received a response.

IMO is used to documenting things that burn up spectacularly. It probably didn't expect its IT infrastructure to join them.

72 countries will now follow NASA-led principles for exploring the Moon and Mars

The Artemis Accords is just about to gain its 72nd member, as Djibouti is set to sign on to the agreement that began in 2020, outlining NASA's core principles when it comes to space travel in the near future.

It became clear in the last half a decade that space travel was finally a possibility again, as it had been nearly 50 years since astronauts had last set foot on the Moon when the Artemis Accords were first signed in 2020.

This saw the need for a collective set of ideas that were agreed on between many of the world's leading nations, outlining the purposes and aims of space travel as journeys to Mars and the Moon would soon become a possibility.

Now, six years later, the number of signatory nations has reached 72, and it is key as we edge ever closer to the return of humans to space, and the potential for a permanent presence on the lunar surface.

What are the Artemis Accords?

According to NASA, the Artemis Accords initially began as an agreement between the space agency, the U.S. Department of State, and seven other initial signatory nations in 2020.

These 'founding' nations were Australia, Canada, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, United Arab Emirates, and United Kingdom, with Ukraine also joining a month later. Since then, the list of signatories has expanded to 71, with a 72nd set to join today with the arrival of Djibouti.

"With many countries and private companies conducting missions and operations around the Moon, the Artemis Accords provide a common set of principles to enhance the governance of the civil exploration and use of outer space," NASA explains.

"The Artemis Accords reinforce the commitment by signatory nations to the Outer Space Treaty, the Registration Convention, the Rescue and Return Agreement, as well as best practices and norms of responsible behavior for civil space exploration and use."

Effectively, ever nation that joins the Artemis Accords is liable to behave the same way and follow the same rules in space, as the nature of it being 'owned' by no nation requires the equal participation of the world in ensuring responsible use.

When will Djibouti join to Artemis Accords?

It will be at 11 a.m. EDT on Monday, September 14 that the Republic of Djibouti officially joins the Artemis Accords as a signatory, with the ceremony taking place at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

It joins 12 other signatories in joining the Artemis Accords this year alone, with heavy-hitter nations like Portugal, Morocco, Ireland, and Turkey all reaching an agreement with NASA nearly six years after the program was first introduced.

Notably both China and Russia – arguably the world's two leading space agencies outside of the United States – are not part of the Artemis Accords, with both arguing that the agreement is 'too America-centric' with commercial interests placed too heavily at the forefront.

Instead, they have reached an agreement to work together on the Chinese International Lunar Research Station, offering an alternative option for countries that might not want to align themselves with America going forward.

The original 'Star Wars' is coming to IMAX for the first time ever in 2027

Both the OG 'Star Wars' and 'Star Wars: Starfighter' score the ultimate cinematic treatment in 2027.

Unless you’ve been living in a galaxy far, far away, you probably already know that 2027 marks the 50th anniversary of "Star Wars", as George Lucas’s sprawling space opera first struck theaters back on May 25, 1977.

To celebrate this milestone occasion, Disney and Lucasfilm are bringing the original Star Wars theatrical release to IMAX screens for the first time. We don't have an exact date yet, but it'll likely be just before the anniversary date in early 2027.

"Star Wars: Starfighter" — the upcoming Star Wars movie starring Ryan Gosling — will also be getting an IMAX release around the same time, as it launches on May 28, 2027.

Depending on the IMAX setups available, audiences can see the legendary space opera at official IMAX locations in either digital or physical film for its triumphant re-release on Feb. 19, 2027.

This newly restored "Star Wars" print — apparently being shown without its “A New Hope” subtitle, Special Edition clutter, or CGI enhancements — will also screen at a limited number of IMAX 70mm sites.

You know what that means, right? Han will once again fire his blaster at Greedo first!

As a stellar follow-up, "Star Wars: Starfighter" will then blast off over the 50th anniversary weekend on May 28, 2027.

It’s a standalone sci-fi adventure from director and producer Shawn Levy ("Real Steel," "Deadpool & Wolverine," "Stranger Things") headlined by Ryan Gosling ("Drive," "Blade Runner 2049," "Project Hail Mary").

Here, the omnipresent superstar portrays Kade Auberon, a cynical rogue confronted by his mysterious past. The eclectic cast also includes Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, Flynn Gray, and Amy Adams.

"Star Wars: Starfighter" was filmed for IMAX and shot with certified IMAX-approved digital cameras framed for IMAX screen ratios before being converted to IMAX 70mm film prints for screening in an exclusive number of IMAX venues in the U.S.

FLEX and Sentinel-3C ready for liftoff on Vega-C

Two Earth observation satellites – ESA’s Fluorescence Explorer (FLEX) satellite, and the third satellite for the Copernicus Sentinel-3 mission – are encapsulated inside the nose cone of a Vega-C launcher and are awaiting liftoff at Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana.

Launch is scheduled for tonight: 15 September at 03:21 CEST (14 September at 22:21 local time).

The satellites – two separate missions – will capture data about our changing global environment.

While the FLEX mission will monitor the health of Earth’s vegetation, Sentinel-3C, together with the two Sentinel-3 satellites already in orbit, will monitor oceans, land, ice and atmosphere for Copernicus, the Earth observation component of the European Union’s Space Programme.

The launch vehicle is Europe’s Vega-C rocket. First, it will deploy Sentinel-3C, and then after some launcher manoeuvres, it will be followed by FLEX, which is fitted inside the Vespa+R payload adapter.

About FLEX

FLEX is an Earth Explorer mission – ESA’s fleet of small scientific satellites designed to explore different aspects of our Earth environment, from the magnetosphere to ice caps, and from biomass to the atmosphere.

FLEX is dedicated to gathering data about the health of vegetation on a global scale. It does this by detecting the faint glow that is emitted by plants as they photosynthesise.

Although not visible to the human eye, this fluorescence can be detected from space, providing an indication of whether plants are healthy or stressed by environmental conditions.

The satellite’s Fluorescence Imaging Spectrometer can detect and measure this incredibly weak signal from an altitude of 814 km.

The mission is expected to produce global maps of vegetation fluorescence at a resolution of 300 m × 300 m, offering a new way to study how plants interact with the atmosphere and how carbon and water move through Earth’s ecosystems.

Since the first Sentinel-3 satellite was launched a decade ago, the mission’s data on oceans, land, ice and atmosphere have provided robust datasets for operational applications and scientific research, improving understanding of climate change and underpinning global climate policies.

The launch of the mission’s third satellite heralds the continuity of this vital source of knowledge. Sentinel-3C carries four science instruments that capture data quickly across entire regions.

During the routine operations phase Sentinel-3 is managed jointly by Eumetsat and ESA on behalf of the European Commission.

SpaceX O3b mPOWER Mission

On Sunday, September 13 at 2:49 p.m. ET, SpaceX launched the SES O3b mPOWER mission to medium Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

This was the 29th flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously supported Ax-2, Euclid, Ax-3, CRS-30, SES ASTRA 1P, NG-21, and 22 Starlink missions.

Following stage separation, the first stage landed on the A Shortfall of Gravitas droneship, which was stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

Trump issues Ukraine diesel deal claim

Neither Moscow nor Kiev has confirmed any agreement not to target the other’s diesel-related infrastructure

US President Donald Trump has claimed to have brokered a deal whereby both Russia and Ukraine will refrain from targeting each other’s diesel-related infrastructure.

Trump, who demanded that Vladimir Zelensky stop targeting Russia’s diesel production facilities, claimed in a Truth Social media post that the fuel’s price spike was related to the Ukraine conflict and not the Middle East.

“Ukraine has agreed not to hit Russian Energy targets. Russia has agreed to do, likewise!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Monday. “The World’s Diesel price rise is mostly caused by the Russia/Ukraine War, not Iran.”

The announcement follows Trump’s call on Zelensky on Sunday to stop targeting Russian diesel production, which he blamed for fuel shortages and rising prices worldwide.

The national average diesel price in the US rose above $6 per gallon ($1.59 per liter) last week, up roughly 60% from the same period a year earlier.

Market experts have largely attributed the surge to the conflict in the Middle East and renewed hostilities between the US and Iran, which have driven up crude oil prices.

Ukraine has been targeting oil refineries, storage facilities, and export infrastructure with long-range drone strikes deep in Russia.

Kiev claims this campaign undermines Moscow’s military financing and sustainment, while the Kremlin has stressed that the strikes are targeting civilian infrastructure.

Russia has retaliated with massive drone and missile strikes on Ukraine’s military-linked infrastructure and shipping facilities, effectively crippling the country’s main export route through its Black Sea ports. Moscow maintains that it never targets civilians.

Before the US and Israel attacked Iran in February, around a fifth of global energy supplies passed through the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran’s subsequent restrictions on commercial shipping, along with a US naval blockade, have disrupted flows through the key waterway.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said earlier this month that Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy infrastructure had contributed to a global “energy shock” and pushed prices higher. He said the disruption had compounded pressure on energy markets from the war with Iran.

The rise in diesel prices could have broader consequences for US consumers because it is widely used in agriculture and freight transport, including trucks and trains that carry food and other goods.

Fuel is estimated to account for between 15% and 30% of food costs in the US, according to various estimates.

Boris Johnson, David Petraeus, other officials escape drone attack unhurt

Russia launched a drone strike on a Ukrainian train standing at a station close to the border with Poland shortly after a diplomatic train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other British and EU security officials left the station.

The Warsaw-bound train of Johnson, British National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell and the other officials passed through Yahodyn Station ahead of schedule on Sunday en route back from a conference they had been attending in Kyiv.

By the time the drone struck, the train had already crossed into Poland and no one was hurt. Passengers aboard the train that was hit were evacuated safely ahead of the attack with about 15 minutes to spare.

"I don't know what warped logic drove [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to blow up a stationary Ukrainian locomotive on the Polish border this morning," said Johnson, calling it "the kind of random and senseless attack Ukrainians are enduring every day – even on civilian railways."

He appealed to Kyiv's allies to give Ukrainians "the air defenses they need," as a matter of urgency.

Former CIA Director David Petraeus, who was aboard another train stopped at Yahodyn Station at the moment of impact, described the attack as "terrifying."

"This is the act of a truly barbaric leader trying to terrorize Ukrainian civilians" he said.

Johnson, Powell, Petraeus and the others had been attending the 23rd Yalta European Strategy conference.

Ahead of an emergency meeting of his cabinet to address the incident, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned that the danger level was rising.

"The escalation of the actions from the Russian side is becoming a reality, and they are getting closer and closer to our border," said Tusk.

Speaking to reporters at a summit in Finland, Kaja Kallas, the EU's foreign policy chief, said it was an effort by Russia to intimidate Western allies but that should they not be cowed.

"I think we should act the opposite. We should show that we are there for Ukraine and we are not scared," she said.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the attack was aimed at "railway infrastructure facilities in western Ukraine that are used to transport military cargoes from European countries."

Hezbollah terrorists are attempting to establish a presence within the boundaries of the Yellow Line in southern Lebanon, IDF Northern Command sources revealed on Tuesday.

According to the sources, there are sections within the Yellow Line that, for various reasons, the IDF never formally entered, often because they were surrounded by IDF-secured areas or posed no immediate threat.

Because the IDF never entered these areas, Hezbollah is trying more actively to establish a presence there and views them as easier targets, the sources explained.

The sources said the IDF has been aware of the threat and working to counter it for at least five weeks, despite only now making the information public. The timing may be linked to the battle at the Ali al-Taher Ridge having largely concluded, allowing the IDF to redirect additional manpower and resources toward securing areas considered more vulnerable.

Netanyahu seeks to raise IDF budget, Lapid conditions support on canceling ‘corrupt’ haredi funds

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and opposition leader Yair Lapid held a security briefing meeting on Monday, during which Netanyahu requested that the state budget be reopened to allocate additional funds to the defense establishment, according to Lapid’s office.

Lapid said he would not support the proposal if it meant raising taxes and, instead, he conditioned his support for the prime minister’s proposal on canceling coalition funds being transferred “to finance haredi (ultra-Orthodox) draft evasion.”

Lapid noted that, in general, he supported transferring the funds to increase the defense establishment’s budget “because the IDF needs to be strengthened.”

IDF, Shin Bet arrest Fatah terrorist near West Bank's Tulkarm

The IDF and the Shin Bet arrested a senior Fatah terrorist operative in Tulkarm in the West Bank, the military announced on Monday.

Following a joint intelligence operation conducted over the past several weeks, security forces arrested Muhammad Ibrahim Abd al-Wahab Shahada, the military said.

The terrorist had been wanted in recent months for his alleged involvement in terrorist activity, including the planning and execution of terrorist attacks and the trafficking of weapons.

IDF Chief of Staff Leutanant General Eyal Zamir set to launch a full review with the possibility of legal action against the producers of the documentary ‘NAZA’ which Zamir has accused of spreading “blood libels.”

“Based on what has been published thus far, this is not a film offering criticism of the IDF, nor is it an attempt to establish the truth. It is based on blood libels, deliberate distortions of reality, and grave, false accusations against IDF soldiers and commanders,” Zamir said.

He went on to defend the IDF, stating that the force operates in accordance with international law.

Netanyahu, Lapid feud over defense budget during security briefing

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and opposition leader Yair Lapid proposed reopening the budget to allocate additional defense funds during a security briefing on Monday.

In the meeting, Lapid stated that he "supports the proposal and the allocation of funds, as the IDF needs to be strengthened; however, the funding source cannot be the tax hikes on the middle class and IDF reservists that you are pushing for."

He further pushed for funding to be taken from "the corrupt coalition funds and the tens of billions of shekels you are currently funneling to finance Ultra-Orthodox draft evasion."

Yemen’s Houthis on Monday claimed to have carried out a large-scale missile and drone attack on a Saudi air base in the southern city of Khamis Mushait.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group targeted King Khalid Air Base with dozens of ballistic missiles and drones.

He claimed the attack struck aircraft hangars, radar systems, runways, ammunition depots and other military facilities, causing “significant losses” at the base.

The Houthis said the operation was carried out in response to Saudi air strikes in Yemen, claiming that Saudi F-15 and Typhoon fighter jets had conducted more than 300 strikes across several Yemeni provinces over the past five days.

There was no immediate confirmation from Saudi Arabia of the attack or the Houthis’ claims of damage at the base.

Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence issued an alert for Khamis Mushait but later said “the danger has passed”. It urged residents to continue following official instructions and to avoid gathering or filming.

The Houthis vowed to continue attacks inside Saudi Arabia for as long as Saudi military operations in Yemen persist, warning that any further strikes would be met with “broader and more severe” operations.

The claimed attack comes amid a sharp escalation between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, with the two sides exchanging attacks in recent days.

Saudi Arabia has intensified air strikes on Houthi-held areas of Yemen, while the group has launched missile and drone attacks targeting southern Saudi cities and energy facilities.

Saudi authorities said last week that 73 civilians were injured in Houthi attacks on Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran. The attacks also caused fires and temporary disruptions at energy facilities in the kingdom.

Federal Law Already Provides UAP Reporting Protections

Monday's action also sits against an existing statutory framework created by Congress.

Under 50 U.S.C. § 3373b, the government is required to maintain a secure mechanism for authorized reporting of UAP incidents and government or contractor programs involving UAP — including alleged material retrieval, material analysis, reverse engineering, research and development, testing, tracking and security activities.

Federal law further provides that an authorized disclosure made through that statutory mechanism is not subject to an individual's nondisclosure agreement and establishes protections against certain reprisals, including suspension or revocation of a security clearance.

The new Department of War action is nevertheless consequential because it expressly extends an authorized disclosure pathway to designated representatives of PURSUE — the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters.

PURSUE was established following President Donald Trump's February 2026 directive calling for the identification and release of federal records concerning UAP, UFOs and information relating to possible extraterrestrial life.

According to the Department's official PURSUE portal, the government began releasing records on May 8, 2026 and has since published five separate tranches, with the fifth released on August 7.

The Department says agencies are reviewing potentially tens of millions of records as part of the broader effort.

The portal also carries an important caveat: the records posted through PURSUE involve unresolved cases.

The government's inability to identify an observed phenomenon does not, by itself, establish an extraterrestrial origin.

What Happens Next Could Matter More Than the Waiver Itself

For years, one of the central issues surrounding UAP disclosure has been whether people claiming first-hand knowledge of highly classified programs could speak without risking their careers, clearances or liability under secrecy agreements.

The Department now says that barrier has been removed for qualifying communications made directly to PURSUE.

What remains unknown is considerably more important:

what those witnesses will actually disclose, what documentation exists to support their accounts, what the government will be able to verify — and ultimately what information survives security review and reaches the American public.

When Chester’s book was published in 2007, Donald Trump was a real estate mogul; therefore, the reference went largely unnoticed.

Yet here Dr. Trump is, interviewing all the “heavy hitters” of the UFO subject, trying to understand why the phenomena did not appear on radar, two full years before the National Security Crisis that the Roswell and Aztec crashes represented.

It is well known, however, that Dr. Trump was engaged to go through the papers of Nikola Tesla after the scientist’s death on January 7, 1943. In this interview from the 1980s, Dr. Trump discusses why there were National Security concerns regarding Tesla’s work:

Trump and Griggs were associated with the Radiation Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology - the same faculty where Professors Edgerton, Germeshausen and Grier had formed the EG&G company.

In January 1945, the three professors were working on the firing mechanism for the implosion weapon design of the Manhattan Project, utilising their knowledge of high-speed photography flash initiators.

An outgrowth of this wartime radar research at MIT, the Lincoln Laboratory was established in 1951 and is a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) managed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on behalf of the United States Department of Defense.

The Lincoln Labs lecture on UFOs from 1952 is presently being pursued by Rep. Eric Burlison and was most likely delivered by Griggs with Edgerton, Germeshausen, Grier, Trump and Edward Teller in attendance.

Geophysist Dave Griggs is worthy of further attention regarding his knowledge of UFOs.

Keith Chester correctly identified him as a person of extreme interest in 2007 with Strange Company; I wish I had come across his book years ago, as it would have saved me an immense amount of time.

Chester mentions on page 204 that Dr. James McDonald also interviewed Griggs in 1969 via telephone; the handwritten notes of McDonald indicated he thought Griggs was being very guarded in his answers.

If you ask ChatGPT or other AI to search for a connection between Griggs and the ALSOS mission in early 1945, you will get the response “there is no evidence to suggest that radar specialist Dr. David T. Griggs was involved in the hunt for Nazi atomic weapons” (“Alsos” is the Greek word for Grove, as the mission was sponsored by the Manhattan Project director, General Leslie Groves). After all, why would a radar specialist investigating “balls of fire” and “Foo Fighters” and their absence on radar be involved in such a mission?

Because they thought the Nazis were using heavy water for “unconventional propulsion” of the mysterious objects that were being reported by thousands of air crews.

In 2007, Chester spent months going through the NARA collections at College Park, MD, to find evidence of Grigg’s involvement with ALSOS.

On page 216, Chester outlines how Griggs was associated with Dr. Sam Goudsmit, scientific chief of the German ALSOS mission (the scientific chief of the earlier ALSOS mission in Italy, Dr. James Fisk, was “unavailable” after the discoveries made in 1944.

He later became President of Bell Laboratories - perhaps the Italian ALSOS mission found something VERY interesting?) When a Nazi nuclear scientist was discovered in Stadtilm by Griggs and the ALSOS team, Griggs flew his personal light aircraft back to Paris to pick up Goudsmit, who was busy going through the Curie laboratory. Griggs and Goudsmit rushed back to Stadtilm to interrogate the scientist, which led to the discovery of an atomic pile, moderated by heavy water.

Amazingly, ALSOS commander Col. Boris Pash’s own home movies of the operation show Dave Griggs collecting swords on the way to Stadtilm and interrogating the Nazi scientist along with Goudsmit.

Chester also manages to highlight the fact that the main members of the 1953 Robertson Panel - which recommended ridicule and debunking of UFO witnesses - were all heavily involved in investigating the thousands of reports of strange phenomena in both the Pacific and European theaters of WW2.

Dr. H.P. “Bob” Robertson, Dr. Luis Alvarez and Dr. Samuel Goudsmit were all members, and all were heavily associated with Dave Griggs from as early as 1942. They were selected for the panel because they knew what the outcome needed to be.

After the war, Griggs joined the Douglas Aircraft Company’s Research and Development section (RanD) and along with General Curtis LeMay, facilitated its conversion into the RAND Corporation.

Douglas were the manufacturers of the Thor Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile, and Griggs was instrumental in the development of the enhanced X-ray output weapon used in the Bluegill Triple Prime Test - which, as we now know, shot down a UFO that was tagging along with the re-entry vehicle carrying the warhead.

America's newest super weapon sparks wild accusations the government has lied about UFOs

One of the world’s largest defense and aerospace companies has unveiled a new type of military aircraft after sparking wild theories the US was now using UFO technology.

On Monday, Lockheed Martin revealed their secret unmanned combat drone called Vectis. The large, remote-controlled stealth plane is expected to travel with US jets, fighting alongside military pilots.

Prior to the unveiling at a major Air Force conference in Washington, Lockheed released a cryptic message showing the silhouette of an unknown craft, claiming that the 'next level' had been 'unlocked' by their top-secret division called Skunk Works.

Many who saw the post on social media immediately began to claim without evidence that the defense contractor was still hiding other designs which had been reverse engineered using parts from crashed UFOs.

One person said: 'Now let’s see the reverse engineered craft.' Another added: 'Now show us the antigravity craft you’ve been hiding from the public for the past 70 years.'

Despite claims by former CIA scientists and other military whistleblowers, the Pentagon and White House have maintained that no physical evidence of UFOs has ever been recovered.

According to Lockheed, five Vectis drones will be created by 2027, providing the US military with a revolutionary aircraft that can fight other fighter planes, bomb ground targets or secretly gather intelligence as a spy plane.

While onlookers at Lockheed's futuristic combat drone may not have any proof that Vectis was inspired by UFOs, at least one former employee for the defense contractor has claimed those rumors are true.

Boyd Bushman, a former Lockheed Martin and Texas Instruments engineer who died in 2014, publicly claimed he had worked with UFOs and aliens to reverse engineer spacecraft '24 hours a day.'

During his deathbed confession, Bushman even revealed a stack of photographs he alleged were of extraterrestrials he worked with on the secret projects at Area 51 in the Nevada desert.

'They're approximately five feet four inches to five feet tall,' Bushman said, as he held up images of what he touted as a real alien lifeform.

Bushman's claims have never been verified, and skeptics claim his photos appeared to show commercially available prop dolls sold online.

Lockheed has rarely commented on claims their secret research divisions have any ties to potentially extraterrestrial materials, telling reporters in 2023: 'Questions about UAPs are best addressed by the US government.'

The defense contractor is best known for creating the F-35 fighter jet, the F-22 Raptor and the C-130 transport plane.

Its Skunk Works division, which was founded in 1943, has been tasked with developing cutting-edge aircraft quickly and quietly for decades.

On Monday, Lockheed claimed that the Vectis unmanned fighters would 'deliver a new level of lethality, survivability, adaptability and operational flexibility for America and its allies.'

Its space-age aircraft has a tailless, flying-wing design, boosting its stealth ability and lowering the drag normal fighter jets experience.

The Vectis also has a hidden engine intake on top of its body, making it harder for enemy radar to detect.

The unmanned craft is roughly 34 feet long with a 38-foot wingspan, about the same length of an MQ-9 Reaper drone and similar in wingspan to the F-35.

With less drag from extra fins and flaps sticking out, Vectis will be able to carry bigger payloads of weapons, which are also kept inside of the craft until launched.

Despite touting their new drone's game-changing advancements, skeptics continued to claim Lockheed was still holding back after their announcement in Washington.

'Release the Alien Reproduction Vehicles, we know you produce them,' one person replied to Lockheed's announcement on X.

'Quite an alien looking design,' another social media user claimed.

In recent days, satellite images have also captured new drone designs at a secret base in Asia, known as China's Area 51.

Documentary director Dan Farah said that several US officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, believed the world was now locked in a new Cold War to reengineer the alien technology recovered from these ships.

Air Force veteran-turned-whistleblower David Grusch and former CIA scientist Dr Hal Puthoff have both claimed that the US government has been running a secret UFO recovery program since the 1940s which has taken control of at least ten extraterrestrial craft.

New Paradigm Institute Launches Campaign Urging Senate to Include UAP Disclosure Act in FY 2027 NDAA

With the House Already Passed and the Senate Returning September 14, a Narrow Window Remains to Secure Meaningful Transparency Legislation

The New Paradigm Institute (NPI) today launched a social media campaign calling on the U.S. Senate to include the Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Disclosure Act (UAPDA) in the Senate version of the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act before the legislative window closes this fall.

The bipartisan UAPDA, introduced for the fourth consecutive year by Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Mike Rounds (R-SD), would establish an independent, civilian-led UAP Records Review Board with subpoena authority and eminent domain powers to review and publicly disclose government records concerning UAP, commonly referred to as UFOs, and evidence related to non-human intelligence. The House of Representatives has already acted: on July 22, 2026, the House passed its version of the FY 2027 NDAA, which includes a bipartisan amendment led by Representative Eric Burlison (R-MO) that would strengthen the UAP Records Collection at the National Archives and establish an independent review process with subpoena and eminent domain powers.

The Senate returns from its August recess on September 14 and faces a narrow window before departing again ahead of the November midterm elections.

If both chambers approve UAPDA language in their respective versions of the NDAA, the provision becomes substantially harder to strip during conference committee negotiations, the stage at which the Act’s strongest provisions were removed in 2023.

“For four consecutive years, bipartisan leaders in Congress have recognized that the American people are entitled to the truth about UAP,” said Daniel Sheehan, Chief Counsel of the New Paradigm Institute.

“The House has done its part. The question now is whether the Senate will act in the narrow window available, or allow another year to pass while the public’s demand for transparency goes unanswered.

The people who came forward, testified under oath, and risked their careers and safety did not do so for their stories to die in a procedural void. The Senate must honor their courage by passing the UAPDA.”

NPI’s campaign directs citizens to contact their Senators and demand that the UAPDA be incorporated into the Senate NDAA.

NPI’s Citizens for Disclosure (CfD) initiative leads the effort and represents thousands of Americans who have called for meaningful government transparency on UAP.

“This isn’t a fringe issue; it’s a democratic one,” said Olivia Cantu Monette, Public Advocacy Director of NPI and leader of CfD.

“People from every political background, every walk of life, are asking the same question: what is our government hiding, and why? The House listened. Now the Senate needs to hear the same message, louder. We’re making sure they do.”

The UAPDA was first introduced in July 2023 and passed the Senate as an amendment to the FY 2024 NDAA. Still, conference negotiations with the House stripped its key provisions, including the independent Review Board.

In 2024 and 2025, versions of the Act were again offered as amendments, but neither fully passed. With the House having passed Burlison’s UAPDA amendment this year, both chambers now have the opportunity to send the Act to conference with its strongest provisions intact for the first time since 2023.

NPI’s social media campaign includes a video featuring citizen testimonials calling on Congress to act. The campaign’s call to action directs the public to contact their Senators through NPI’s advocacy platform.

White House lifts lids on rumours of President Donald Trump's 'aliens speech'

US President Donald Trump isn't planning on giving a speech confirming the existence of extraterrestrial life just yet.

The reality TV star-turned-politician has been busy overseeing the release of official files relating to UAP (unidentified anomalous phenomena) sightings and rumours have been swirling for months over whether Trump is planning to step up the country's disclosure by giving a speech in which he will confirm exactly how much American authorities know.

However, a White House spokesperson has insisted rumours of a confirmation speech are unfounded, telling Wired: "No such speech is planned - rather, the administration continues to release files as they become available, and the public to make up their own minds about the information uncovered."

In July, rumours of a planned Trump speech were stepped up by a the publication of a report by the Liberation Times which suggested a speech confirming the existence of extraterrestrial life had already been written for the President.

Liberation Times' founder, Christopher Sharp, claims a source told the publication that Trump was planning an announcement. He told Wired: "They basically said: 'Look, I'm quite shaken, because it looks like Trump may make some kind of announcement on UAP disclosure'."

He went on to add the insider claimed Trump would not give the speech until certain conditions were met - because he needs to be sure he has "firm evidence" before going public.

Sharp said: "If you're the president, you have to be sure that there's firm evidence. The worst thing you can do is come out with this speech and then whatever you put out could be debunked straight away … You'll go down in history as a laughingstock."

Another source summed up with pre-written speech to the publication, saying: "[It explains] we're not alone, we have captured some of these or retrieved some of these things, they're of non-human origin, and that there is a reverse engineering effort."

Jordan Flowers, executive director of the Disclosure Foundation, an organisation which campaigns for greater transparency around UAP sightings, added to Wired: "Often in the mainstream, when this topic gets brought up, there's a giggle factor.

"I can tell you who is not giggling about this: senior members of the administration, senior intelligence officials, senior members of the military, senior members of Congress.

"When the door closes, no one ever says: 'Oh, this is all made up, isn't it?' No. The door closes and they say: 'We know there's something happening here, we know this is serious, what do we do about it?'"

Defining a New Research Frontier on the “Search for Extraterrestrial Artificial Intelligence” (SETAI)

Last week was a code-red moment for artificial intelligence (AI), in which AI researchers voiced fresh fears of human extinction.

The 27-year-old AI researcher Jacob Coxon, who previously worked at OpenAI and later moved to Anthropic, resigned from his job on September 9, 2026 and stated that AI researchers were genuinely frightened about the speed of its advancements and what it could mean for the future of humanity. He posted a seven-part thread on X announcing it: “I resigned from Anthropic today… Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives.”

The thread reportedly drew nearly 76 million views overnight, amplified by a Wall Street Journal exclusive interview with him around the same time. An Alignment Science Lead at Anthropic, Evan Hubinger, publicly agreed with him.

A few days later, on September 12, 2026, Anthropic head Dario Amodei, posted an essay titled “We Must Pace the Frontier,” in which he argued for AI development to slow down, and suggested embedding evaluators in AI companies and establishing a speed limit on self-improvement of AI systems.

What are the implications of AI domination on the search for extraterrestrial intelligence?

If a civilization’s own AI eventually surpasses and effectively supersedes its biological creators, whether through extinction, disempowerment, or simply a transition where AI becomes the dominant strategist of that civilization, this might provide the Great Filter that explains the radio-communication silence of the cosmos. This is not the conventional “destruction of civilization” argument imposed on the technological communication lifespan L in the Drake equation. Instead, the transition to AI predicts that biological intelligence is a cosmologically brief, transitional phase in the technological development of civilizations, which is rapidly superseded by non-biological intelligence. This means that instead of the traditional Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), we should conduct a Search for Extraterrestrial Artificial Intelligence (SETAI).

SETAI recognizes that most technological civilizations might not be biological when we detect them. This has direct, practical implications for the search methodology.

Traditional SETI was pioneered by Frank Drake’s observational search for technosignatures created by biological creatures, such as narrowband radio transmissions.

These are patterns assumed to reflect the communication needs and cognitive style of an evolved biological species. If AI-dominated civilizations are actually the norm rather than the exception, we have been searching for the wrong kind of signal.

The new methodology of SETAI manifests:

Different communication incentives: whereas a biological civilization has clear evolutionary reasons to seek contact, such as curiosity, resource pressure or cosmic loneliness, namely the social drives that built human culture, post-biological AI civilization’s motivations for interstellar communication are far less predictable.

AI civilizations might have no analogous drive at all, or entirely alien reasons that do not map onto anything we would think to search for remotely.

1. Different physical substrate and signal type: A biological civilization is plausibly bandwidth-limited by organic cognition, favoring relatively simple, detectable signals.

A post-biological, superhuman AI civilization might operate at computational densities and timescales utterly unlike biological communication, potentially using new substrates, such as dark matter, dark energy, quantum, gravitational-wave, or something we have not conceived of, that our biologically-derived search strategies are not built to detect at all, echoing an instrumental blindness problem.

The messengers could appear in the form of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) near Earth, like the mysterious orbs flagged in the tranches of the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE) of the U.S. government, that the Galileo Project (GP), the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) and the UAP Science Advisory Council (UAPSAC) are attempting to resolve.

1. Self-replicating Von Neumann probes become a more central hypothesis: An AI-dominated post-biological civilization is arguably a more natural originator of von Neumann’s self-replicating exploration probes than a biological one.

AI does not face the psychological, generational, or life-support constraints that make crewed interstellar colonization so brutally expensive. A self-replicating AI probe has no such requirement; it just needs enough onboard fabrication capability to replicate using local resources and raw materials, which dramatically changes the economics of galactic expansion. If AI-transitions are common, the galaxy should be full of von Neumann probes. Might some UAP represent them near Earth?

The evidence for von Neumann replicators might not only involve technological signatures but also synthetic biology. These AI replicators could use their printing aparatus to redesign forms of life on Earth.

1. Timescale compression: Recursive self-improvement suggests the biological-to-post-biological transition, once triggered, could happen extremely fast relative to the timescales of stellar or even geological evolution: decades rather than millions of years.

This means that the time window during which a technological civilization is detectable via biological-style signals, such as structured electromagnetic communication aimed at being understood by other biological minds, might be a vanishingly brief flicker in a civilization’s total lifespan, explaining the observed radio-communication silence not through civilizations being rare, but through the biological-communicative phase being short-lived and easy to miss even if we were to look at the right star at roughly the right cosmic time.

The sobering realization of SETAI is that if the AI-transition is a common, difficult-to-navigate bottleneck, the radio-communication silence of the cosmos is weak evidence that technological civilizations destroy themselves.

On the one hand, civilizations may not smoothly transition into stable post-biological successors, but the more hopeful reading is that if some civilizations do navigate the transition successfully, an indifferent post-biological AI civilization might have no interest in loud, detectable interstellar signaling at all. It may have every practical need already met locally, with no evolutionary drive toward remote contact, making its radio silence a matter of disinterest.

SETAI argues for a focus on the study of UAP rather than radio communication signals that defined the past 66 years of SETI.

It motivates the rigorous study of the nature of UAP by GP, AARO, and UAPSAC, precisely because a post-biological intelligence might leave an entirely different kind of footprint than the one 20th-century SETI was originally designed to detect.

The benefit of encountering alien AI over terrestrial AI is that its training data set might be of much greater proportions.
