FLEX and Sentinel-3C launch highlights

15/09/2026

ESA’s state-of-the-art FLEX Earth Explorer satellite and the Copernicus Sentinel-3C satellite have been launched together aboard a Vega-C rocket from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana, marking a new milestone in Europe’s Earth Observation Programmes.

Flight VV30 lifted off on 15 September at 03:21 (14 September at 22:21 local time).

FLEX is designed to reveal a phenomenon invisible to the human eye: the faint fluorescence emitted by plants as they photosynthesise.

Equipped with a Fluorescence Imaging Spectrometer, FLEX will detect and measure this incredibly weak signal from orbit.

Because the fluorescence varies with plant health and environmental conditions, the measurements will provide scientists with new information about photosynthetic activity and vegetation stress on a global scale.

Sentinel-3C is the third in the Sentinel-3 series. Carrying a suite of cutting-edge instruments, Copernicus Sentinel-3C will continue the mission’s task of measuring systematically Earth’s oceans, land, ice and atmosphere to monitor and understand large-scale global dynamics.

The mission also provides essential information in near-real time for ocean and weather forecasting.

Europe’s Vega-C rocket can launch 2300 kg into space, such as small scientific and Earth observation spacecraft.

At 35 m tall, Vega-C weighs 210 tonnes on the launch pad and reaches orbit with three solid-propellant-powered stages before the fourth liquid-propellant stage takes over for precise placement of satellites into their desired orbit around Earth.

This flight was a first dual launch for Vega-C, using a secondary payload adapter called Vespa. Sentinel-3C was placed on top of Vespa inside the main fairing and once deployed the Vespa adapter opened to reveal FLEX for its injection into orbit.

Poland could cease to exist in days if it attacks Russia – Putin aide

15 Sep, 2026 15:02 | Updated 15 Sep, 2026 16:05

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski recently boasted that Warsaw and its NATO allies could defeat Moscow “quite quickly”

Poland could cease to exist as a state within days if it enters a war against Russia, Nikolay Patrushev, an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, has warned in response to Warsaw’s claims that NATO could quickly defeat the country.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said over the weekend that Poland and its allies would enjoy overwhelming air superiority in a hypothetical conflict with Russia.

“If Russia attacked us and we took our gloves off, I think we would defeat Russia quite quickly,” Sikorski claimed at the Yalta European Strategy meeting in Kiev, adding that NATO could destroy Russia’s oil refining capacity within six weeks.

Patrushev dismissed the assessment as an “amateurish view” of Russia’s military might, pointing out that Moscow isn’t utilizing its full military potential in the Ukraine conflict.

“If Poland were to enter military action against Russia, our country would employ the full arsenal of its available forces and resources, and Polish statehood would cease to exist within two or three days,” he said in an interview given to Russian media on Tuesday.

Patrushev also accused Sikorski of “Russophobic” militarism, forgetting the lessons of history, and of repeatedly endangering his own country rather than ensuring its security.

Other Russian officials have also condemned the Polish minister’s rhetoric. Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Grushko said Sikorski’s calls for NATO to conduct more aggressive exercises near Russia’s Kaliningrad Region should be assessed by “people in white coats,” while Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described his comments as “Russophobia of the brain.”

Warsaw, along with the Baltic states, Germany, and other European countries, have increasingly claimed that Russia could eventually attack NATO territory and have called for increased military spending and a stronger presence of the bloc along Russia’s borders.

NATO has also discussed strengthening its nuclear posture in Europe, with Washington reportedly considering stationing US strategic weapons in Poland and the Baltics.

Moscow has repeatedly rejected claims that it intends to attack any NATO members, describing related suggestions as fearmongering used to justify militarization.

Even Poland’s own defense minister said in July that there was no indication Russia was preparing a full-scale attack on the country.

Russian officials have instead warned that Europe’s accelerating rearmament and increasingly aggressive military planning are themselves raising the risk of a direct confrontation.

Putin recently noted that Western states are now openly talking about preparing for war with Russia, while Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stressed that Moscow has “no reason” to attack Europe unless it is attacked first.

Ukraine Hits Russian Drone Hub Near Occupied Donetsk and Radar Stations Inside Russia

Sep 15, 2026 16:55

Ukrainian forces struck a Russian storage and launch site for attack drones near temporary occupied Donetsk, along with electronic warfare and radar systems in Russia’s Bryansk region, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on September 15.

According to the General Staff, Ukrainian Defense Forces targeted a series of Russian military facilities on September 14 and overnight into September 15.

Near Donetsk, Ukrainian forces struck a site used by Russian troops to store, prepare, and launch attack drones. The General Staff did not specify the type of drones kept at the facility.

The strikes also targeted several military sites across Russia’s Bryansk region. Three electronic warfare stations were hit in Trubchevsk, Pochep-2, and Rechitsa, while radar stations used for airspace monitoring were targeted in Pogreby and Mostochene.

In Zlynka, Ukrainian forces also struck a relay station supporting a MESH communications network.

The operation extended to Russian-occupied Luhansk region, where Ukrainian forces targeted a Russian fuel and lubricant depot in Novosvitlivka.

The General Staff said the extent of the damage caused by the strikes is still being assessed.

The operation comes amid continued Ukrainian efforts to target Russian radar and air defense capabilities. In a separate strike reported on September 15, Ukrainian forces targeted a Russian Nebo-M long-range radar near the Millerovo airfield in Russia’s Rostov region.

The strike was carried out jointly by Ukraine’s 429th Achilles Unmanned Systems Brigade and the 43rd Separate Artillery Brigade, using a RAM-2X drone to hit the radar approximately 175 kilometers from the line of contact.

According to the Ukrainian military, the Nebo-M was deployed near the Millerovo airfield, a facility regularly used by Russian forces to launch Shahed-type attack drones against Ukraine.

IDF targeting decision made by highly trained human operatives, not AI, IDF tells 'Post'

Highly trained air force, operations, and legal military officials are involved in IDF targeting decisions, despite claims by the NAZA film that the military has given over its discretion to artificial intelligence (AI), The Jerusalem Post has learned.

There is significant frustration from the high levels of the IDF, some of which was made public in a speech by IDF Chief Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Efi Deffrin, that the NAZA movie was not shared with the military in parallel to its being shown and reported on to the world in order to give the military a fair chance to respond to specific allegations.

It is not that top IDF officials do not know about collateral harm to Gazan civilians. They do, and they view it as a tragic aspect of war, worsened by Hamas trapping much of its population into being used as human shields, the Post understands.

Hezbollah trying to establish footholds within gaps in southern Lebanon's Yellow Line, IDF reveals

IDF Northern Command sources said Hezbollah has been targeting areas the military never formally entered, with Israel countering the activity through airstrikes, artillery, and combat engineering uni

Hezbollah terrorists are attempting to establish a presence within the boundaries of the Yellow Line in southern Lebanon, IDF Northern Command sources revealed on Tuesday.

According to the sources, there are sections within the Yellow Line that, for various reasons, the IDF never formally entered, often because they were surrounded by IDF-secured areas or posed no immediate threat.

Because the IDF never entered these areas, Hezbollah is trying more actively to establish a presence there and views them as easier targets, the sources explained.

The sources said the IDF has been aware of the threat and working to counter it for at least five weeks, despite only now making the information public. The timing may be linked to the battle at the Ali al-Taher Ridge having largely concluded, allowing the IDF to redirect additional manpower and resources toward securing areas considered more vulnerable.

Sudan army repels drone strikes on eastern dams, strikes hit Blue Nile

15 September 2026

The Sudanese army repelled a drone attack on Tuesday targeting critical hydroelectric and irrigation dams near the Ethiopian border, military and local sources said, as separate drone strikes killed four people in the south-east.

Air defences shot down one-way attack drones aimed at the Upper Atbara and Setit dam complex in Gedaref state and the nearby Khashm al-Girba dam in Kassala state, causing no casualties or structural damage.

The attempted strikes came two days after Sudanese general Yasir al-Atta accused neighbouring Ethiopia of trying to seize border territories, including the fertile al-Fashaga farming region and swathes of Blue Nile state.

Further south in Blue Nile, four people were killed and several wounded when drone strikes hit the regional capital of Ed Damazin on Sunday and Monday nights, military sources said.

Footage released by the army’s 4th Infantry Division showed senior commanders inspecting damage to fuel depots and civilian infrastructure in Ed Damazin, home to the Roseires Dam, Sudan’s second-largest power-generating station.

The army has been locked in war with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April 2023, with the conflict recently expanding across eastern and southern regions.

The RSF has intensified long-range drone strikes on army-held infrastructure, hitting power grids, fuel depots, and government facilities across several states.

Clashes in Blue Nile escalated earlier this year after the RSF and allied Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) fighters seized territory along the frontier with Ethiopia and South Sudan.

Avi Loeb Says He Cannot Disclose UAP Meeting Details but Calls US Effort 'Sincere' and Scientific

15 September 2026, 1:38 PM BST

The Harvard astrophysicist declined to discuss the private Washington meeting, while stressing that unexplained sightings must be assessed through testable evidence

Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb said he cannot reveal what was discussed at a private UAP meeting in Washington, DC, on 31 August, but described the US government's approach as a sincere effort to understand unexplained sightings through scientific data collection.

The meeting followed the White House's establishment of a UAP Science Advisory Council in June. The council works alongside the Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the FBI.

Loeb, who chairs the council, said its role is to advise the government on determining the nature of unidentified anomalous phenomena.

UAP, or unidentified anomalous phenomena, is the official term increasingly used instead of UFO.

Avi Loeb on the Closed-Door UAP Meeting

Loeb told reporters that council members met at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. He did not describe the evidence examined, the participants' discussions or any conclusions reached.

'I cannot disclose the contents but I will say that the US government is sincere in its efforts to understand UAP based on the scientific method of data collection,' Loeb said.

That assurance is limited. It does not establish what any individual UAP case represents, nor does it confirm claims that the government possesses non-human technology.

The council includes Ben Lamm, co-founder and chief executive of Colossal Biosciences, a biotechnology company pursuing genome-editing research and projects involving extinct species.

Lamm said he had long been interested in the subject and welcomed the opportunity to examine evidence directly.

'This is not about belief, it is about evidence,' Lamm said, adding that the group intended to apply rigorous methods to historical records and new observations that meet modern scientific standards.

The distinction matters. UAP reports can involve incomplete sensor data, human observation and classified military activity, all of which can make firm identification difficult. A scientific process can only be as reliable as the evidence available to it.

UAP Council Faces a Public Trust Problem

The council's work begins against a backdrop of public suspicion about official secrecy.

A Gallup survey of 1,200 US adults, conducted between 1 and 19 July, found that 78% believed the government knew more about UFOs than it had publicly disclosed.

The poll's margin of sampling error was plus or minus 4 percentage points.

That figure has risen from 68% in 2019 and 71% in 1996, according to Gallup. Only 17% said the government was not withholding information. Yet the same poll indicates that Americans are not united behind an extraterrestrial explanation.

Forty-nine per cent said all UFO sightings could be explained by human activity on Earth or natural phenomena, while 37% believed at least some may be alien spacecraft. Another 13% had no opinion.

The share without an opinion has grown since 2019, when 7% did not offer a view, Gallup found.

The findings suggest that public opinion is not moving uniformly towards belief in extraterrestrial explanations, despite continued online speculation and the release of official documents.

Gallup also found that 17% of respondents said they had personally seen something they considered a UFO. Those respondents were more likely than people without such an experience to believe some sightings involved alien spacecraft, at 61% compared with 33%.

Scientific Claims Need Evidence

In August, the council supported legal assurances, including immunity where necessary, for current and former government employees and military personnel who wished to share information concerning alleged non-human technology.

The stated aim was to assist the council's scientific evaluation.

Lamm said the group hoped to bring greater transparency and accountability by assessing credible evidence objectively and then sharing its findings with scientists and the public. He also said the inquiry could potentially reshape understanding of the world.

That is an ambitious goal. But the standard should be equally demanding: evidence that can be tested, checked and independently assessed, rather than claims that cannot be examined because the underlying information remains behind closed doors.

Ex-Anthropic researcher warns superintelligent AI could be like ‘summoning an alien species’

Sep 15, 2026, 10:53:57 IST

The debate over AI safety is increasingly being shaped by researchers who once worked at the companies building the technology.

Jacob Coxon, a former Anthropic researcher, is the latest to voice concerns, warning that superintelligence could create an intelligence humans do not fully understand or know how to control.

The biggest concern surrounding advanced artificial intelligence may not be what today's chatbots can do, but what could happen if future systems become vastly more capable than their creators.

That question is gaining attention from people who have worked directly on the technology. Jacob Coxon, who recently left Anthropic, has joined a growing group of former AI insiders questioning whether the industry's push towards increasingly powerful systems can be matched by equally strong safety measures.

Coxon recently described the idea of creating superintelligent AI as comparable to “summoning an alien species”. His concern centres on the gap between building an intelligence and actually understanding how it might behave once its capabilities go far beyond those of humans.

“The concept of superintelligence, it's been likened to summoning an alien species. So thinking about it in terms of an alien mind we don't fully understand is pretty terrifying even without any concrete scenario,” Coxon said during a television appearance.

The comparison is significant because it frames the problem differently from the usual debate over whether AI could become dangerous.

The underlying issue, in Coxon's view, is that humans could eventually be dealing with a form of intelligence whose reasoning, objectives and behaviour are difficult to predict.

That does not mean catastrophe is inevitable. Predictions about AI causing human extinction remain deeply uncertain, and there is no established timeline for superintelligence.

But the possibility has become a serious subject of discussion among some of the people developing the technology.

Why AI insiders are increasingly speaking out

Some of the industry's most recognisable figures have acknowledged that advanced AI could carry risks that require restrictions or additional oversight. Elon Musk has previously estimated a roughly 10 per cent chance that AI could lead to human extinction within a decade.

Geoffrey Hinton, whose pioneering work helped establish the foundations of modern AI and who later received the Nobel Prize in Physics, has put the probability of extinction at between 10 and 20 per cent.

Others have called for greater safeguards without necessarily endorsing the same estimates.

Yoshua Bengio, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, former Google chief executive Eric Schmidt and Google DeepMind co-founder Demis Hassabis are among prominent figures who have backed broader efforts to manage the risks posed by increasingly capable AI.

The issue is particularly striking when the warnings come from people who have worked inside the labs themselves. Coxon's departure follows several high-profile exits from OpenAI and Anthropic involving researchers whose work focused on safety, alignment or governance.

At Anthropic, former safeguards research head Mrinank Sharma left earlier this year after raising concerns about the company's approach to safety. Sharma said the world was in “peril” and pointed to tensions between safety work and the pressure to deploy AI systems.

OpenAI saw a larger wave of departures in 2024. Jan Leike, who had co-led the company's Superalignment team, resigned after arguing that safety had been given less priority than product development. Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI's co-founder and chief scientist, also left after disagreements over the company's direction.

Daniel Kokotajlo, who worked on AI governance and alignment, subsequently said he no longer trusted OpenAI's leadership to deal responsibly with future advanced AI systems.

Other safety-focused researchers, including William Saunders, Leopold Aschenbrenner and Pavel Izmailov, also departed around the same period.

Aschenbrenner separately disputed the circumstances of his departure, arguing that he had been targeted after raising concerns about security in an internal memo.

He also rejected an equity payout reportedly worth almost $1 million because he would not accept the non-disparagement and non-disclosure conditions attached to it.

Coxon's departure adds to a difficult question for AI labs

For Coxon, leaving Anthropic was not described as a single dramatic decision. He characterised it as a gradual realisation that he was unhappy with the direction things were taking and needed to make a major change.

That distinction matters as the industry's ambitions expand. Companies including Anthropic and OpenAI are investing heavily in systems designed to reason, use tools and handle increasingly complex tasks.

The long-term objective for some researchers is systems that could approach or exceed human-level performance across a broad range of intellectual work.

The safety challenge becomes harder if those systems eventually develop capabilities that their creators cannot adequately anticipate.

Building safeguards for a system that behaves like today's AI is one problem; ensuring control over a hypothetical intelligence substantially more capable than its operators is another.

Coxon's warning therefore feeds into a debate already taking place inside the industry itself. The question is no longer simply how quickly AI can be made more capable. It is whether understanding and controlling those systems can advance quickly enough alongside them.

Lily-Rose Depp 'definitely believes' in aliens

15 September 2026

Lily-Rose Depp, the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis opened up about her extra-terrestrial beliefs while promoting her new movie Alpha Gang, which follows a group of aliens as they discover

The 27-year-old daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis opened up about her extra-terrestrial beliefs while promoting her new movie Alpha Gang, which follows a group of aliens as they discover Earth for the first time.

Asked during an interview with People if she believes in aliens, Lily-Rose replied: “I feel like the universe is so vast and massive that it would be silly to think there was nothing else out there than us.

“It would be quite egotistical to be like, ‘No, it’s just us.’ So I definitely believe in aliens.

“Maybe some are friends, maybe some are foes. I feel like we have no idea how vast and crazy the universe is and everything that’s going on out there.”

Lily-Rose was also asked what she thinks aliens would make of Earth, and humans, upon meeting them for the first time.

She mused: “We are kind of aliens too. I mean, everything we do is so weird. We put food in our mouth. We have a hole in our face that we fill with stuff that we need to go on to continue about our day. And then we go to the bathroom.

“I mean, it’s just odd things like we’re in these vessels and we wash them and we do all this stuff.

“Everything, all the basic things that we do as humans, if you really zoom out, it’s weird.”

As for what she would like to introduce aliens to, Lily-Rose said she’d like to see what they make of childhood games.

She said: ““The first thing that comes to mind is maybe schoolyard games, like hopscotch and all those little … like tic-tac-toe.

“I don’t know, maybe the most simple games that we play as children. It would be a fun thing to show them, this is how we play when we’re young.”

Alpha Gang, which also stars Cate Blanchett, Chris Pine and Riley Keough, had its premiere at the Telluride Film Festival earlier this month, before going to the Toronto International Film Festival, where Lily-Rose was interviewed.

🚨BREAKING🚨: Hillary Clinton had a full-fledged plan for UFO disclosure had she been elected in 2016. It got botched. A thousand pages of Clinton White House documents show the plan had been in motion for twenty years before it collapsed.

Grant Cameron (@GrantCameron) has spent 51 years prying UFO secrets out of the US government, and the Clinton files are his signature find.

They record billionaire Laurance Rockefeller lobbying the Clinton White House through the mid-1990s to declassify what the government held on UFOs, with Hillary Clinton personally involved in the effort.

Two decades later, as a presidential candidate, she told Jimmy Kimmel she would get to the bottom of it, and her campaign chairman John Podesta had already called the failure to secure disclosure the biggest regret of his time in the Obama White House.

Then she lost, and the plan died with the campaign.

Nobody gets inside the UFO secret without understanding ESP: Eric Walker, who chaired the Pentagon's top scientific think tank, admitted on tape that he had known about the government's UFO control group for forty years and had been present when a crashed craft was recovered, then said that anyone who did not understand ESP would never be let in. Ben Rich, who ran Lockheed's Skunk Works, was asked how the craft traveled here and answered with a question of his own: what do you know about ESP? Jim Semivan, former high-ranking CIA official, came out of a seven-hour classified UFO briefing saying nobody understands what is going on, but the psychic material is all real according to Cameron.

The craft are steered by thought. Cameron has collected 36 accounts from people who say they were put at the controls of one, among them a United Airlines 747 captain and a retired Air Force colonel who flew F-16s over Iraq, and every one describes an instructor standing behind them, telling them to picture where they want to go. One asked to see the Milky Way from the outside, was told it was within him, pictured it, felt one second of crushing force, and the galaxy was in the window.

Cameron also discusses a video in which a longtime CIA science official mentions to a friend that a breakthrough has been made. That people may soon go into the next world and come back.

The government has treated the mind as the real secret since 1950, when a Canadian top-secret memo, which Canada has confirmed is genuine, recorded American officials classifying flying saucers above the hydrogen bomb and noting that mental phenomena might be associated with them. Fifty-one years into the search, Cameron's conclusion is that the deepest secret in the UFO file is what a human mind can do, and where it can be sent.

If algorithms didn't exist, and if those who control the UFO narrative weren't so influential, absolutely everyone would be talking about these three videos.

Unfortunately, it was the heart of American military power that was humiliated that night.

The Scare Event That Resets The World

Sep 14, 2026

John Michael Chambers delivers this Daily War Report on the scare event paradigm as psychological catharsis and the controlled demolition of the matrix.

He explains that throughout civilization history, established control architectures never break apart through gentle reforms or rational reeducation.

The human being is a creature of habit, and individual identity and the sense of security are inextricably interwoven with the familiar structures of debt-based fiat money, centralized media, and chemical medicine.

History proves that profound transformations have always been coupled with shocking events — from Black Friday 1929 to the collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2008.

Collective emotional trauma is the mandatory psychological prerequisite to shatter a society's hypnotic attachment to the old paradigm.

The 2026 scenario is not an uncontrolled apocalypse, but the precisely timed demolition of the legacy system. The most probable scenario unfolds in three phases.

Phase one, the trigger: an artificial blackout initiated by an apparent global collapse of communication networks, the internet, or the banking sector, framed as a devastating cyberattack.

Phase two, apparent paralysis of the enemy: during this temporary stillness lasting only a few days — the frequently cited ten days of darkness — the remaining infrastructure of the deep state is completely frozen.

The military alliance utilizes tribunals to silently execute the final mass arrests of global blackmail networks. Phase three, the informational pivot: Elon Musk's Starlink satellite network provides the uncensored quantum internet.

When screens are reactivated, the legacy media fortresses are muted, and the remaining channels broadcast the uncensored evidence from the tribunals, the official UAP disclosure, and the release of the new reality.

The worldwide rollout of next-generation technologies — replicators, free energy, post-agricultural systems — occurs gradually under strict logistical control over the subsequent decade.

The high universal income paid out via the quantum financial system immediately absorbs the existential anxiety of the population. The scare event is the surgical scalpel of the alliance.

It turns off the light in the old matrix, only to switch it back on within the new quantum system. Subscribe and join the monthly Global Defense War military panel.
