Because if the media aknowledged the fact that someone planned or tried to assasinate Trump, then they would have to talk about all the violent rhetoric being spewed by the left.
And they want to keep that going, so that's why they won't mention it.
if ever they did, they would blame Trump, said it was his fault for making people want to do things like this.
