Two Russian oil refineries have halted processing after Ukrainian drone strikes

 

The Syzran refinery stopped operations after the September 15 strike. According to Reuters, the key AVT-6 unit was damaged, accounting for around 71% of the plant’s capacity. Another unit, AVT-5, is still under repair following an earlier strike. Full restoration could take at least a month.

 

The Saratov refinery has also halted processing again after another attack — before it had even fully recovered from the previous strike.

 

Together, the two facilities can process around 290,000 barrels of oil per day. Reuters notes that the new shutdowns could add further pressure to Russia’s domestic fuel market.

 

For Moscow, the math is getting unpleasant: one refinery is still being repaired from the last strike when the next one hits.
